The most dramatic hair transformations at the 2017 Met Gala

Too far or just far enough?
Hair transformations 2017 Met Gala

The 2017 Met Gala red carpet is officially done and dusted and naturally, the fashion was something else. While some celebrities copped out and merely touched on the theme (Comme des Garçons, the fashion label of designer Rei Kawakubo), others went the whole shebang – makeup, hair, you name it.

For that, we applaud them. Now, in no particular order here’s who made our Tuesday morning that little extra-special thanks to their hair creativity.

1. Grace Hartzel

You may not be too (if at all) familiar with Grace but she’s a high-fashion model who actually looks very normal and very striking under all that face paint and ringlets. But she made our list for going all out for this year’s theme.

2. Zendaya

The Disney singer and actress took a page out of Halle Berry’s Oscars look book and ditched her sleek long hair in favour of volume, volume and more volume. Turn it up, Zen.

3. Rose Byrne

Honourable mention goes to Aussie actress Rose Byrne who also upped the ante by getting friendly with a curling wand and a can of hairspray, creating a look reminiscent of the ’20s flapper era.

4. Cara Delevingne

Doesn’t get much more dramatic than a shaved head spray-painted silver now does it? Trust Cara to do something this wild.

5. Matt Smith

He plays Prince Philip in the highly addictive show The Crown but Matt Smith couldn’t look further removed from his character when he hit the red carpet, swapping the peroxide for a bottle of black hair dye. Dashing.

6. Kate Hudson

Meanwhile, Kate went the opposite – bleaching her hair so blonde that it was basically white.

7. Kylie Jenner

Kylie also joined in the peroxide party, although knowing her extensive wig collection it’s highly likely her hair will be back to long and black before the after-party even kicks off.
