Let’s face it, the best thing about any awards show isn’t the actual awards themselves – it’s watching all the beautiful dresses and glam looks sashay down the red carpet.
While we’re so here for the outfits, we’re also obsessed with the hair and makeup looks.
So we’ve rounded up our favourite beauty looks from the 2019 Golden Globe Awards and found out how those expert glam teams achieved them.

Lady Gaga
Gaga’s makeup artist Sarah Tanno and hairstylist Frederic Aspiras took inspiration for their looks from their client’s beautiful blue Valentino gown.
“It all started when we saw the dress on her,” Tanno told Allure.
“The color of the Valentino gown was the most beautiful shade of periwinkle [and] she loved the idea of incorporating the colour of the dress into her hair and makeup; she wanted to feel like Lady Gaga,” she said.
All of Gaga’s makeup was by Marc Jacobs Beauty, which Australian customers can get at Sephora.
Tanno used three different eye products to create that beautiful smokey, shimmery eye look, as well as the brand’s famous Velvet Noir mascara and a high-shine nude gloss to offset the dramatic eyes.
Aspiras also dyed Gaga’s hair blue to match the dress.
“Gaga wanted to feel like herself at the Golden Globes,” he told Allure. “[We were] inspired by the magnificent color of the dress, so we choose to use a similar tone for the hair, too.”
We think they absolutely nailed the brief!

Camilla Belle
In a world full of boring nudes and grey smokey eyes, actress Camilla Belle’s bold eye look was a standout at the Globes.
Her makeup artist Hung Vanngo used all Chanel skincare and makeup products on his client, but we know you really want to find out what that eyeshadow shade is.
Chanel makes fabulous small eyeshadow palettes – you get four shades in a cute little black compact. This particular product is called the Les 4 Ombres Multi-Effect Quadra Eyeshadow in the shade “Spendeur et Audace”.
Who says you can’t wear bright green eyeshadow to the office?
Emmy Rossum
The Shameless star looked absolutely beautiful, wearing lots of pale pink eyeshadow and blush to match her fluffy pink dress.
Many beauty trend forecasters predict 2019 will be the return of shameless blush, and Emmy is leading the way!
The key is to apply it to the apples of your cheeks, sweeping it high onto your temples to avoid the clown look.
Penelope Cruz
Penelope Cruz is a longtime client of British makeup guru Charlotte Tilbury, who did her makeup for the Globes today.
“My magic makeup look for Penelope Cruz was all about flawless, poreless filtered skin, dolce vita peachy, bronzy golden eyes to mesmerize, and pillowy, pink lips,” Charlotte wrote on Instagram.
This is the perfect kind of wearable smokey eye, which any of us can easily recreate at home with any shimmery bronze shade and a matte brown shade to create more of an evening look.
Lucy Liu
Lucy Liu is another star proving how versatile blush can be.
For the Golden Globes this year, Lucy’s makeup artist applied blush high up on her cheeks, even on her temples.
This helps lift the face and create a more modern, youthful look.
Emily Blunt
Emily Blunt went for a low-key, undone beauty look on the red carpet today and we’re loving it.
Her makeup artist used a sweep of pale grey-blue shimmer eyeshadow to match her dress, but kept the lashes, brows and skin very natural.
The star of the show was her beautiful messy, braided up-do.
This is so easy to recreate at home – just create two braids and pin them up using bobby pins.
Make sure you leave a few pieces of hair at the front to frame the face.

Dakota Fanning
Well, well, well. Dakota Fanning has had quite the glow-up!
She looked very grown up on the red carpet today in a stunning Giorgio Armani gown.
Dakota let the gown – and her lips – do the talking, sticking to a simple makeup look and a bold red lip.
