Fact: Duchess Catherine has the world’s most photographed blow-dry. So much so that even when she stepped out with her yet-to-be-named third baby just hours after giving birth on April 23, we couldn’t help but notice how tressed to impressed the Duchess appeared…
So, when the hairstylist entrusted with her royal tresses reveals the exact products she uses to style the 36-year-old’s hair, we take note (then add all to cart!).
While packing for the royal tour of Sweden and Norway earlier this year, Kate’s hairstylist, Amanda Cook Tucker, took to her private Instagram account to share a brief snapshot of the Duchess’s preferred hair products. The British hairstylist, who has been working with the royal since 2012, captioned the shot of the meticulously laid out products: “Think that’s everything! #worktrip #packing.”
It’s a rare glimpse into the Duchess’s grooming regime that we are likely to never see again, as since posting, Amanda has removed her social media account.
So what does it take to get her hair perfectly preened? Hold your breath:
13 brushes
Six combs
Three hair tongs
Two hairdryers
Seven hair products
Eagle-eyed reporters at People have noted that the majority of the hair products are inexpensive such as cult favourite Elnett’s Supreme Hold Hairspray.
Duchess Catherine’s hair products
To save you from squinting and eye-strain, we’ve found all the products in the Duchess’s hair kit as pictured above.
Also in Kate’s kit is a mousse and texturising spray from Charles Worthington’s Volume & Bounce range (aha! The key to Kate’s incredibly bouncy locks!).
The Duchess’s hairstylist cleverly packs a fragrance-free hairspray for when all the layering of hair products gets a little heady. Amanda’s choice Essential Maximum Hold Unperfumed Hairspray, is a UK pharmacy favourite.
To tame frizz and fly-aways while increasing lustrous shine, the Duchess’s uses Kiel’s Silk Groom Serum. Another product appears to be from silicone-free range Living Proof.
Who is Duchess Catherine’s hairstylist?
So, who is the woman behind the one of the most glorious heads of hair? Here’s everything you need to know about Amanda Cook Tucker…
She was Prince George’s second visitor in hospital when he was born! While the first person to greet the little newborn (aside from his mum and dad) was Sir Marcus Setchell, the now-retired gynecologist to the Royal Household, Amanda was next to welcome him to the world. The hairstylist was famously photographed entering the Lindo Wing (before grandparents Carole and Michael Middleton mind you).
She’s been part of the royal family entourage for years. Amanda has been working with Duchess Catherine since 2012, but she has been cutting Prince William and Prince Harry’s hair since they were little boys. It’s possibly she cuts Prince George and Princess Charlotte’s hair too.
She earns the big bucks! It’s been reported that back in 2012 Amanda was earning $530 a day.
Amanda (known as ‘Mandy’ to her friends) cuts and styles Kate’s hair in her Kensington Palace home. Not only does she travel with the Duchess, Amanda visits the Duchess at her home to trim her lengths in private.
