It’s easy to assume that Candice Warner, one half of Australia’s sporting golden couple with husband David Warner, spends her life surrounded by beautiful and expensive things from clothes, to jewellery and makeup.
But the down-to-earth mum admits that with three kids under 10 in the house – Ivy Mae, seven, Indi Rae, six, and Isla Rose, three – luxury goods just aren’t worth the hassle.
“As a mother you can’t be wearing expensive things all the time, because it gets trashed with vegemite, or chocolate, or whatever,” she tells Now To Love.
“Yes, I have nice things, but that’s for special occasions. Day to day, I’m all about what’s practical, what’s affordable.”
It’s a philosophy she applies to beauty too, admitting that she would feel “embarrassed” to wear a $300 beauty product to pick up her girls from school.
With such a hectic schedule and David away playing cricket most of the time, keeping things “very basic and minimal” is vital for Candice.
Like any busy mum, she has to juggle everything from work commitments and media events with parenting duties, like getting the kids fed and into bed at a reasonable time.

But no matter how busy or chaotic her day gets, she always makes time for her morning and night skincare routines – and they’re surprisingly simple.

“I do it morning and night and that’s something that’s come from my mum. From a very early age, she was always big on skin and looking after your skin,” Candice explains.
Now she’s passing her mother’s lessons on to her own daughter, who have already started copying bits of her skincare routine in the mornings.
They wash their faces together in the shower then slap on some sunscreen just like mum and dad David, who is constantly covered in protective zinc on the cricket pitch.
Candice adds: “It’s only a little simple routine, but it it’s getting them educated so that it comes second nature [to use sunscreen] because we live in Australia, our environment is so harsh, so it is very important that we look after our skin from a really early age.”
At 37, the mum-of-three is just as focused on repairing sun damage as she is on preventing it and that’s where her favourite L’Oreal Paris Revitalift Retinol + Niacinamide Pressed-Cream comes in.
Formulated with retinol and niacinamide, two cult favourite ingredients, the product promises to minimise wrinkles and even skin tone, something Candice admits she struggles with.
“Because I do spend so much time in the sun … I’ve got uneven skin and the two things that I’ve noticed the most using it is that my skin’s brighter and it’s a lot smoother,” she says.
But has David noticed the difference?
“David doesn’t notice a lot at times – unless I dramatically cut my hair off or dye my hair! But I felt the difference, that’s the main thing,” Candice laughs.
“And as a busy mum, if you can look in the mirror and go, ‘I’m actually looking okay today’, it goes a long way for how you you’re feeling … it’s important to do something for ourselves.”
