That squeaky-clean feel:

When washing your hair, leave the shampoo in for one or two minutes before rinsing. This will help to dissolve and remove excess oils and dirt. Rinse until the water runs completely clear and your hair feels squeaky clean.

Care for fine hair:

If your hair is fine, using too many styling products will make it heavy and limp. Make sure you rinse out any conditioner completely, then finish with a burst of cold water to smooth the hair shaft.

Hide that grey:

If you have brown or dark hair and are just discovering a few grey hairs, use your mascara to hide them before a night out. Simply brush the wand lightly over the area, leave to dry and comb through.

Rinse with oomph:

Make your scalp tingle by using fizzy mineral water as a final rinse. It may be a little bit expensive, but it feels wonderful. It could even give some body and lift to baby-fine hair.

Add shine to your shampoo:

To restore shine and close the hair cuticle after shampooing, rinse the hair with a mixture of vinegar and strained lemon juice diluted with cold water.

Avoid a dye disaster:

When you need to tone down a semi-permanent hair colour or remove a colour rinse, try washing your hair with an anti-dandruff shampoo, which will strip out colour pigments. Always follow this with a rich conditioner.

Calming the curl:

To smooth fly-away hair, dab a tiny amount of sorbolene cream on your hands and rub it between your palms. Smooth them over your hair to calm any static or unruly ends without leaving your hair greasy.

Concentrate on conditioner:

A concentrated conditioning treatment applied to the hair and covered with plastic kitchen wrap for 20 minutes will help to strengthen and protect your hair.

Holiday solutions:

Always keep your empty film canisters. They make great containers to fill with shampoo and conditioner if you’re going away for a few days.
