Suri and Shiloh’s nannies tell all!

Suri and Shiloh's nannies tell all!

Superstar babies Suri Cruise and Shiloh Jolie-Pitt have grown into little girls whose personalities are worlds apart.

Born to showbiz royalty just one month apart in 2006, four-year-olds Suri Cruise and Shiloh Jolie-Pitt have turned out to be polar opposites, from the hair on their heads to the shoes on their feet!

And who would know that better than the nannies who care for these privileged tots? Now insiders from the TomKat and Brangelina camps reveal all the private details about their pampered, but very different, young charges to Woman’s Day.

Taking care of tomboy Shiloh can be a tough gig for Brad and Ange’s nannies. Although she’s a sweet girl with a heart of gold, they say her mischievous side often gets the better of her – with encouragement from big brothers Pax, 7, and Maddox, 9.

“Once, they tricked a nanny into sitting on a chair covered with wet paint!” says an insider. “Shiloh was falling over laughing.”

Zahara, 5, has born the brunt of Shiloh’s pranks, too. “Shi was playing cowboys and Indians and cut the heads off a bunch of Zahara’s dolls!” says a source. “When one of the nannies found them, [Shiloh] said it was an unprotected village, so she had to scalp them.”

Baby number 2 for Katie Holmes

Baby number 2 for Katie Holmes

Tiredness, flat shoes, baggy clothes, all the signs are there, and she couldn’t be happier about welcoming a new baby..

Could Katie Holmes be giving husband Tom Cruise the best Christmas present of all – a baby? With all the evidence lined up, it certainly seems likely.

The actress has fuelled speculation in Hollywood that she’s pregnant with her second child by stepping out with all the tell-tale signs of a mum-to-be – the flat shoes, bags and blankets carefully placed to hide her tummy and, more importantly, the noticeable baby bump.

After tongues began wagging in August, Katie – who has been filming the new movie Jack And Jill with funnyman and fellow parent Adam Sandler – has had an undeniable glow as she approaches her 32nd birthday on December 18.

And as she left the lavish Allure Of The Seas cruise liner in Florida with four-year-old Suri in tow, the brunette beauty seemed more conscious than ever of covering up. Having filmed scenes on board the mammoth ship for the film, which tells the tale of a man whose twin sister arrives for Thanksgiving then refuses to leave, a smiling Katie kept a tight grip on Suri’s hand as they disembarked.

Her loose-fitting dress and big cardigan ignited whispers among onlookers, but when she donned a fitted red dress between takes on set that seemed to reveal a bump it really got tongues wagging. Combined with her tired out look while shopping in West Hollywood last week, it seems clear the star has some exciting news.

Growing up in the spotlight: Suri VS Shiloh

They are the most recognisable children in the world, born into the famous Pitt and Cruise families. But are Shiloh Pitt and Suri Cruise really all that similar?

From an early age Katie Homes kept a watchful eye of her daughter Suri.

Similarly, Shiloh has was kept out of the spotlight from a young age and protected by mum Angelina Jolie.

Suri is often photographed out and about with dad Tom Cruise, but seems to spend most of her time with mum. The pair are often snapped while out shopping or on films sets together.

Shiloh on the other hand often spends a lot of quality time with dad Brad Pitt. The pair often spend one on one time together away from Shiloh’s 5 siblings.

Jet setting between movie sets and holiday destinations and owning expensive outfits seems to go with the territory for Suri Cruise.

Shiloh has also been treated to the high life since she was a youngster, but it doesn’t seem that expensive clothes are really her thing.

While Suri looks all grown up in her metallic pink flats, summer dress and bright orange nail polish whilst out shopping with mum and sister Isabella…

…Shiloh looks like a playful kid poking her tongue out at passersby while walking through the airport with mum Ange and three of her young siblings.

While Suri dressed up in mini high heels, a gold bag and pretty headband…

…Shiloh chooses a more tom boy look with boots, a backpack and sword.

Although she is at the park, Suri still can’t be persuaded to wear pants. The tiny tot is all about fashion and often tells mum Katie Holmes what she should wear. “Tom and I went to the Met ball a couple of years ago, and I had this beautiful red gown and these royal-blue shoes that I wasn’t planning on wearing, but Suri made me put them on and so I was like, ‘Okay, I trust you,” Katie said. Suri also the owner of a $850 purse.

While you can’t get Suri out of dresses, Shiloh won’t wear a dress! The youngster picks pants and boots over dresses and high heels and has been labelled a tom boy by mum Ange who says Shiloh “likes to dress like a boy. She wants to be a boy. So we had to cut her hair. She likes to wear boys’ everything.”

William and Kate: News from the palace

William and Kate: News from the palace

William is determined his bride won’t struggle the way his mother Diana did when she married into ‘the Firm’.

When Kate Middleton stepped through the door of Clarence House on Tuesday, November 16, as a newly engaged royal fiancee, she wasn’t exactly entering a whole new world. Prince William had made certain her preparation to become a princess started more than a year ago.

Mindful of the way an unprepared Princess Diana was thrown into court life, carrying out official duties even before her wedding, William wants Kate to have a much easier transition into her royal role than his mother did.

He has decided she will not be involved in any public engagements ithout him for a considerable time, and that she will spend most of her days at their secluded farmhouse in Anglesey, Wales, where she can quietly adjust to her new position.

Perhaps more than anyone else, William understands the pressures on a new princess and is anxious to shield Kate as much as possible from the world’s scrutiny while she learns the ropes.

He also long ago gave her a clear idea of what her future would be like, “in case she wanted to back out”, as he put it. Weekends at Prince Charles’s private residences, Highgrove in Gloucestershire and Birkhall at Balmoral, as well as attending the odd party at Windsor Castle, has given her a lot of insight into the way the House of Windsor works.

Natalie and Mark’s wacky Wonka wedding!

Natalie and Mark's wacky Wonka wedding!

Oompa-Loompas and lollies galore were just the ticket for these sweet lovers.

As Mark Brian stood nervously waiting for his bride, the guests barely batted an eyelid at his unusually dapper purple frock coat and impressive top hat.

Instead, they were busily sampling the oozing chocolate fountains dotted around the garden and tucking into the lollipops and prettily wrapped sweets dangling from the surrounding trees.

With a giant bubble machine helping to recreate a scene straight from the 1971 film Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory, childhood sweethearts Mark and Natalie Whiteight tied the knot in a lavish celebration – complete with Oompa-Loompas – themed on their favourite story.

All it took was a little imagination, says Mark, 30, and Natalie, 32, who are both big fans of the 1960s Roald Dahl book Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, on which the film is based. And when you add the fact that Mark’s family are in the chocolate business, well, a Wonka theme seemed only natural.

“We wanted a really chilled-out wedding,” Natalie explains. “Mark’s family own a chocolate factory, and when we stumbled across a website where we could hire ‘small men’, we thought, ‘What a coincidence – let’s buy some Oompa-Loompas!’”

James Blunt gears up for Aussie tour

James Blunt gears up for Aussie tour

Looking out over the gorgeous harbour on a perfect Sydney day, UK singer James Blunt can’t help but confess his love for Australia.

“I love it here. I think it’s the most amazing place,” he says. “You can tell anyone who lives here is a lucky person.”

The singer, who calls the sun-kissed island of Ibiza home, stopped off in Australia recently on a whirlwind promotional tour for his new album Some Kind of Trouble.

The 36-year-old, who says he was never trying to be a famous musician, but “was just trying to make albums that he loved” will be back on Aussie shores in May 2011 as part of his third world tour.

Known for his hits ‘Beautiful’ and ‘Goodbye My Lover’, Blunt says his new album was put together differently to the first two chart-topping albums.

“Previously I have written the album first and then gone in and recorded it, which is easy to do if you just have an acoustic guitar and you go in and record it. Both of my first albums have been more melancholic,” he says.

This album however, saw Blunt work more spontaneously with the producer to come up with most of the songs.

“We didn’t realise we were making an album. At the time I just met him, it was supposed to be for a beer, he was playing his piano and I walked in and picked up an electric guitar and wrote a song called ‘Dangerous’,” Blunt says.

“It was really upbeat and energetic. I loved it and I said, ‘You know what, if I can I am going to come back tomorrow and record this demo.’ And I did and it sounded great and I said, ‘What if I come in a third day and record another?’ And I did and days turned into weeks which turned into months and we made more demos and we produced those tracks and got the finished product.”

A final product which Blunt is really proud of.

“I love it, that’s why I am putting it out. I am really excited about it and I had a lot of fun making it and now is that really exciting time where you see whether other people like it too,” he says.

Fortunately for Blunt it seems he will have similar success with his third album as he did with his first two. Stay the Night has jumped up the ARIA singles chart from spot 42 to 14 in a week, while his album Some Kind of Trouble is at the number eight spot on the ARIA album chart.

So why does he like this album so much?

“I have different highlights. I love ‘Turn Me On’, which is the final track on the album. The record label didn’t want it on the album. They battled that but it’s my album,” he says.

“I think they thought it wasn’t in the same theme as the music I have done before, but I wrote it and recorded it in seven hours and its really spontaneous and gritty and it sounds great.”

Happy wife, happy life

Thinkstock

Have you ever asked yourself, “What makes me happy?” Your answer might be your good health, seeing your family healthy or liking what you see in the mirror. But these answers differ greatly from those identified by Canadian and US researchers who claim that your happiness, or lack thereof, might rest in your spouses’ hands.

The University of British Columbia, University of Washington and Pennsylvania State University study of more than 6000 people used data collected over more than 50 years. The researcher found that, particularly in long-term married couples, the happiness of both parties ebbed and flowed almost in unison, MSNBC reported.

“What we saw over a long period of time,” University of British Columbia lead researcher Professor Christiane Hoppmann said, “is that if one spouse changed in terms of increasing happiness, the other spouse’s happiness would go up. And if there was a dip in happiness, this dip would also affect the respective spouse.”

The researchers filtered data from the Seattle Longitudinal Study to examine specific results from married couples and then compared how happy they were.

While this research seemed to show that happiness in married couples is linked to the spouse, researchers are now wondering if this is a good or a bad thing.

“We can’t tell if one spouse lifts up the other when there’s trouble or whether one spouse drags the other down. It could be both,” Professor Hoppmann said.

*My Last Duchess*

MY LAST DUCHESS BY DAISY GOODWIN, HEADLINE REVIEW, $29.99.

This stylish historical novel, set at the turn of the 19th century, gives us beautiful clothes and lavish jewels … a British duke in need of a rich wife … and a lively American heiress with a mother ambitious for her to “marry well”.

And so Cora Cash, the toast of New York, is launched onto the trans-Atlantic “marriage market” where her fortune is seen as fair exchange for the title of Ivo, Duke of Wareham. Yet is the duke after more than Cora’s millions? And now she has the ring, can she win his heart? In short – will love triumph over money? It’s a great subject – Edith Wharton and Henry James were similarly intrigued by the meeting of wealthy Americans and aristocratic English – and Daisy Goodwin (chair of judges for the 2010 Orange Prize) has delivered us the full period drama, which anyone with even the slightest taste for ripped bodices and gilded drawing rooms – I raise my hand on both – will be bound to enjoy.
