First look at cheesy new William and Kate movie

First glimpse of cheesy new William and Kate movie

Prince William and Catherine

You were glued to the royal wedding coverage and couldn’t switch off the William and Kate Lifetime telemovie (even when ‘William’ started singing karaoke) — now you can relive the royal love story in another cheesy made-for-TV movie.

Hallmark’s William & Kate: A Royal Love Story will air in the US later this month and the first trailer has been released.

In pictures: Love is in the heir for William and Kate

Part fact and (sizeable) part fiction, the film delves into William’s emotional decision to give Kate his mother Princess Diana’s beloved engagement ring.

“It’s a psychological story of the memory of the mother, in this case Princess Diana, and her legacy,” the film’s director Linda Yellen told Associated Press.

“It’s a very personal story. In a way, it’s my tribute to her as well as a tribute to the young couple.”

Your say: Will you watch the new Prince William and Kate Middleton telemovie?

Liz Hurley’s ‘evil’ Shane Warne fitness regime

Liz Hurley's 'evil' Shane Warne weight loss regime

Shane Warne and Liz Hurley in South Africa last month.

Liz Hurley has detailed the “secret evil regime” she used to whip Shane Warne into shape.

Shane has undergone a dramatic makeover since he started getting serious with Liz earlier this year.

In pictures: The changing face of Shane Warne

He has lost a substantial amount of weight, unveiled a new wrinkle-free face and has even been photographed wearing what appears to be makeup.

Shane and Liz have strenuously denied she played any part in his transformation, but Liz has now “admitted” she was the catalyst in a series of tongue-in-cheek Twitter posts.

“I’ve decided to take full responsibility for SW’s remarkable weight loss and will be publishing my secret, possibly evil, regime shortly,” Liz tweeted.

She then sent a series of messages to Shane detailing the many ways she planned to torture him in the coming days.

“I’m about to eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich — you may watch me as you slowly spoon up your thin and tasteless gruel,” she wrote.

“Then I’ll sit on your back and make you do 200 one armed press ups… And perhaps pin you down and re-tattoo your eyeliner.”

Shane quickly replied: “Not the whip again if I have a chip! Standing on my back with those eight inch heels whilst you make me do 200 push-ups hurts.

“Will you please be kind or hold my hand when you re-tattoo my eyeliner. I have always had a fear of needles — hate them!”

He later added: “Confession time — I had a bread roll today. Sorry! Please don’t hurt me or punish me and make me sleep in spare room!”

Your say: Do you think Liz Hurley is the reason Shane Warne has changed his appearance so much?

Crown Princess Mary’s family day out

Crown Princess Mary's family day out

Crown Princess Mary and Crown Prince Frederik with their four children.

Royal portrait shoots are usually a very stuffy affair, complete with stiff poses, starched collars and perfectly-coiffed hair.

But the Danish royal family dispensed with formality last week, posing for a series on casual photographs in the grounds of their summer estate Grasten Castle.

Braith Anasta finally admits engagement to Jodi Gordon

Braith Anasta finally admits engagement to Jodi Gordon

Braith Anasta and Jodi Gordon.

Despite weeks of furious denials, rugby player Braith Anasta and actress Jodi Gordon are, in fact, engaged. And they’re not afraid to put a hefty price tag on the story.

Braith and Jodi were reportedly paid $140,000 to share their engagement news in New Idea’s current issue. They discussed the proposal and their romance in the interview and unveiled Jodi’s custom-made diamond engagement ring for the first time.

“I just asked Jodi to spend the rest of her life with me and grow old together. I wanted to get it right because it’s a once-in-a-lifetime thing,” Anasta excitedly told the magazine.

“We’ve become best friends who can lean on each other in any situation. And that to me means everything.”

The couple also discussed their first date, claiming it was love at first sight for both of them.

“We knew pretty much straight away that we were meant to be with each other,” the sports star said.

Braith proposed to Jodi in the garden of their new $1.9 million Clovelly home last month. He popped the question with a cheap ring so Jodi could design one she really liked at a later date.

Engagement rumours began in June, when Woman’s Day published a story saying Jodi had been seen leaving a Sydney jewellery store.

Braith and Jodi strenuously denied the claims, saying the article was “total speculation”. Their agent on the other hand, reportedly refused to deny the rumour.

Instead, Woman’s Day editor Fiona Connolly says the agent tried to broker a $100,000 deal for details of the engagement.

Braith and Jodi aren’t the only high-profile couple to deny rumours about their personal life, only for them to be proven true shortly afterwards. Glenn McGrath and his wife Sara Leonardi publicly rubbished New Idea’s claims they were planning a second wedding earlier this year. Weeks later, the couple confirmed the ceremony on their Twitter pages.

Your say: Do you think Braith Anasta and Jodi Gordon should have sold their engagement story after weeks of strenuously denying the rumours were true?

Wine can prevent sunburn

Wine prevents sunburn

Want to avoid painful and unsightly sunburn this summer? Drink more wine.

A new Spanish study has found that white and red wine may protect skin cells from ultra-violet radiation.

Researchers from the University of Barcelona and the Spanish National Research Council reported that flavonoids found in grapes halt the chemical reaction that causes sun damage in skin cells.

The study, which was published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, found that the grape flavonoids decreased the body’s production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), which oxidises lipids and DNA molecules releasing enzymes that kill skin cells.

When grape flavonoids are present, less ROS is produced, resulting in less oxidisation and fewer skin-killing enzymes.

Study leader Marta Cascante said she hoped her team’s findings would be used to create better sun-protecting products.

Zara and Mike’s fairy tale wedding

Zara and Mike's fairy tale wedding

Our veteran royal reporter Judy Wade was there to share in the happy day.

Three months ago, as she was driven to Prince William and Kate Middleton’s grand royal wedding, Zara Phillips gazed in horror at the crowds and formal procession, and vowed, “I’m not having all this fuss!” And she got her wish on July 30, when she married England rugby captain Mike Tindall in a charming but very private ceremony in Edinburgh, a world away from the pomp and pageantry of her cousin’s nuptials.

In stark contrast to any other wedding in recent Windsor history, Zara, 30, and Mike, 32, invited only the immediate royal family. Most of the 400 guests were close friends from the worlds of rugby and horse-riding. Of course, Zara, the Queen’s eldest and rumoured favourite granddaughter, has always been a rebel royal, famously shocking her family with tongue and tummy piercings.

But as she arrived a stylish seven minutes late at Canongate Kirk on the arm of her proud father, Mark Phillips, the champion equestrienne looked every inch the traditional eye-mistingly gorgeous bride in her timeless ivory silk gown, designed by the Queen’s favourite couturier Stewart Parvin. In the simple, 45-minute Church of Scotland ceremony, Zara vowed, “I now take you, Michael, to be my husband. In the presence of God and before these witnesses, I promise to be a loving, faithful and loyal wife to you, so long as we both shall live.”

Then, with a skirl of the bagpipes, the newlyweds walked out into the Edinburgh sunshine and kissed in the doorway of the church, much to the delight of gathered royal fans, who also let out a loud cheer when Wills and Kate emerged from the church on their way to the reception. Held at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the Queen’s official residence in Scotland, which had been turned into a temporary nightclub for the occasion, it was a chance for Zara and Mike to let down their hair among their nearest and dearest.

MasterChef Kate’s bombshell: I don’t want to be a chef

MasterChef Kate's bombshell: I don't want to be a chef

Kitchen whiz Kate Bracks is ditching the bright lights to spend time with her kids and live her B&B dream.

Before setting foot in the MasterChef studio to compete in the show’s final episode, Kate Bracks knew she was already a winner, blessed with three beautiful children and a loving husband to cheer her on. And now the pressure test of the MasterChef finale is behind her, the modest mum from Orange is making the surprising admission that her dearest dream is to abandon a lucrative career in cooking and return to her former anonymous life in the peaceful valleys of central west New South Wales.

Despite the delicate dishes she spent hours slaving over, and the “techniques and skills” she acquired along the way, Kate says she doesn’t want to run a restaurant or star in her own show. She wants to run a sleepy B&B. “I have an underlying dream of owning a bed-and-breakfast,” Kate reveals. “I look at what [past winners] Adam Liaw and Julie Goodwin have done before me and I know plans change, so I’m open to whatever is coming, but still, deep down, is the desire to own a B&B.

That’s my gift, that’s my skill and that’s something I can make work with the family. The idea of a cookbook freaks me out.” Kate, 36, famously puts her family ahead of her industry ambitions, so her vision of a tiny hotel consisting of “small cottages set on land near Orange, amongst rolling hills, at the luxury end of things” is the perfect solution to the modern dilemma of juggling motherhood with the satisfaction of succeeding in business.

“I’m much more interested in people than food. I want people to come and stay with me and feel nurtured and pampered,” Kate smiles. “There would be options for food…of enjoying a meal at night around a communal table.”

Bondi vet Lisa: I couldn’t marry without my boys

Bondi vet Lisa: I couldn't marry without my boys

With her two pooches beside her, Lisa Chimes marries her long-term boyfriend Brad Nissen.

There was no way Bondi Vet star Dr Lisa Chimes was walking down the aisle on her wedding day without her two biggest fans – her cavalier-cross-poodles Nelson and Lucas. So it’s a good job they were suitably dressed for Mum’s big day.

“The lady who altered my bridesmaids’ dresses also made up the boys’ suits,” says Lisa, 27, who married her boyfriend of 10 years, Brad Nissen, also 27, in Melbourne recently. “I know… I’m crazy, right? They had little tuxes – a white shirt and bowtie, and their charcoal bit of material that matches the groomsmen – and the florist, Katie Marx, made them corsages to wear. Just gorgeous!” Both Nelson and Lucas were clearly thrilled to be with Lisa on the biggest day of her life. With tails wagging, they sat patiently as she fitted them into their outfits.

“Nelson is an absolute angel – if I put anything on him he’s fine,” says Lisa, smiling at her docile six-year-old pet. “Lucas is a bit younger, he’s almost two, so he’s a bit more of a troublemaker. We did practice runs with the tuxes on and he spent the whole time chewing his little bowtie.” It’s rare to meet a bride so relaxed in the run-up to her wedding – and rarer still to meet one who was more concerned with what her dogs were wearing than with her own outfit.

“With my dress – and the designer won’t be too happy to hear about this – it was lying there on the bed a few days before the wedding and the dogs decided to lie on it!” a laid-back Lisa laughs, showing us her gorgeous grey Collette Dinnigan wedding frock. “But you know what? That’s OK… they’re just as important.”Brad was equally enthusiastic about the unusual groomsmen. “The dogs were always going to be a part of the wedding – it was never up for discussion,” Lisa laughs. “They’re our surrogate children, so there’s no way they were going to miss this.”
