Prince Harry deletes Facebook account after nude scandal

Prince Harry deletes Facebook account after nude scandal

Prince Harry

Prince Harry has deleted his Facebook account amid fears more private photos of him could be leaked by his unsuspecting friends.

The 27-year-old royal is a huge fan of the social networking site, and has been using it for four years under the pseudonym Spike Wells.

Harry used the site to keep in touch with his 400 online ‘friends’, post photos of his holidays and write cryptic comments about his party-hard lifestyle.

He was updating his Facebook profile as recently as last week.

But after naked photos of the prince partying in Las Vegas were leaked to the press on Wednesday, Harry was advised to delete the account.

His private secretary Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton — who is heading a royal enquiry into the ill-fated Las Vegas jaunt — began damage control by telling the Prince to delete any private social networking accounts.

Harry’s friends Tom ‘Skippy’ Inskip and Arthur Landon and a royal protection officer — all three of whom accompanied the Prince to Vegas — have also deleted their accounts.

The Scotland Yard protection officer in question has frequently posted pictures of Harry on his account, referring to him in captions as “Spike”.

While neither Harry, nor his three accomplices posted pictures from Las Vegas on Facebook, Arthur Landon uploaded some questionable images from a recent trip to Necker Island.

Harry, Arthur and other friends partied for a week on Richard Branson’s luxurious private island immediately before they headed to Vegas.

Arthur posted a series of images from that holiday, including one of his suitcase which contained a gas mask, a storm trooper costume and what appeared to be a purple bong — a device used to smoke drugs.

Another image appeared to show Prince Harry passed out on the sand with the caption: “The perfect start”.

Harry is not the only royal to use Facebook under a pseudonym — his brother William created an account using the name “Wills Wombat Wales”, which he used until his true identity was uncovered and he was forced to quit.

Grandmother gives birth to her own grandson

Grandmother gives birth to her own grandson

Angel Hebert’s little son Madden is just like any other healthy two-week-old baby. The story of how he was born, however, is anything but ordinary.

Angel’s 49-year-old mother, Linda Sirois, from Maine in the US, gave birth to her own grandson after Angel was told it was too dangerous for her to go through with a pregnancy, due to a heart condition.

Linda had long suspected her daughter may have problems due to her condition, and for years had told Angel that if she was unable to carry a child, she would be a surrogate for her.

‘It was all pretty simple as far as I was concerned,” Linda told the Portland Press Herald.

“I just saw it as I was babysitting for a few months.”

Angel, 25, and her 29-year-old husband, Brian, were told last year by doctors that it was unsafe for Angel to give birth.

“It was pretty disappointing and we were pretty upset about it,” Angel said “But we kind of had an idea that it was a possibility and, all along, my mother was saying, ‘I’m here and I can carry for you.’ I guess we didn’t really take her seriously.”

Angel says after getting the bad news from doctors, she called her mum to ask if her offer to be a surrogate was still on the table, and Linda immediately began calling fertility clinics.

After finding one that would help them, Linda was successfully implanted with her daughter’s egg, which had been fertilised with her husband’s sperm.

From there, everything ran smoothly, with Linda saying it was the easiest of all of her pregnancies with no morning sickness or complications.

Baby Madden Hebert was born on August 13 via C-section, with Angel standing by her mother’s side.

Linda says it is not unusual for a grandmother to be a surrogate for her own grandchild.

“I just saw it as I was babysitting for a few months,” she said. “It was their child all along. It was just a room for rent.”

How much does it cost to raise celebrity tot Suri Cruise? According to leaked divorce settlement documents, by the time she turns 18, her dad Tom Cruise will have paid a total of $4.8 million.

The leaked divorce documents, published on TMZ, reveal that Tom will fork out $384,000 a year in child support as well as medical and educational costs.

Lisa McCune’s love triangle

Lisa McCune's love triangle

Much-loved star Lisa McCune shocks friends and fans alike as she divides her time between hot new love Teddy and husband Tim.

Lisa McCune spent last Tuesday morning hand-in-hand with her husband Tim Disney in Melbourne before flying back to Sydney and straight into the arms of her South Pacific co-star Teddy Tahu Rhodes. The two performed to a sell-out crowd at Sydney Opera House that night, just hours after Lisa was spotted at her children’s private school holding hands with Tim after a weekend together.

The couple’s united front at their children’s school in an upmarket Melbourne suburb did little to stop speculation about their marriage after Woman’s Day sensationally revealed Lisa’s steamy relationship with Teddy last week. Lisa and Tim arrived together, with Tim clutching Lisa’s hand as they walked their children, Archer, 11, Oliver, 8, and Remy, 7, into school. Both kept their sunglasses on but were smiling and appeared comfortable in each other’s company.

Just hours later Lisa looked more than comfortable when she took to the stage with Teddy in South Pacific, in which they play lovers and even share a passionate kiss as part of their performance. “The chemistry was simply electric,” says one female fan, who watched Teddy, 46, and Lisa, 41, perform on Tuesday night, just a day after the scandal broke. “It’s strange but riveting watching them, knowing about the affair. I wouldn’t want to be her husband right now!”

Teddy, who is known as the “Brad Pitt of the opera world”, is understood to have separated from his second wife of just three years, US mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard, who moves between New York and London and is raising their two-year-old son Teo.

Tom Cruise’s new heartache

Tom Cruise's new heartache

Still reeling from his shock divorce, a gaunt-looking Tom Cruise is shattered by news of his friend’s death.

Just when Tom Cruise thought life couldn’t get any harder, he was forced to contend with two heartbreaking events in the same week. The actor – who has been looking increasingly gaunt and tired since Katie Holmes announced her intention to divorce him – is said to have lost 6kg from his already lean frame within three weeks.

Not only did his divorce from Katie, 33, officially go through last week, but Tom was also devastated by the news that his good friend Tony Scott, 68, plunged to his death from an LA suspension bridge just two days after they met up to scout film locations for a sequel to their 1986 blockbuster Top Gun.

Tom, 50, who also co-starred with his ex-wife Nicole Kidman in Tony’s 1990 racing hit Days Of Thunder, issued an emotional statement soon after hearing the news. “Tony was my dear friend and I will really miss him,” Tom says. “He was a creative visionary whose mark on film is immeasurable. My deepest sorrow and thoughts are with his family at this time.”

It’s no wonder this is the loneliest time in Tom’s life. With his divorce signed off by a judge last Wednesday and his beloved daughter Suri, 6, spending most of her time with her mother, it’s believed Tom is struggling to grasp just how his life spiralled out of control so quickly.

Will the Queen step down?

Will the Queen step down?

With her husband’s health failing, the buzz is that HM will abdicate – and bypass Prince Charles for Wills!

It’s been a massive year for Queen Elizabeth. She’s experienced the highs of her Diamond Jubilee celebrations and watched her country bask in the glory of the Olympic Games. But behind the scenes, it’s believed there’s only one thing on her mind – the deteriorating health of her husband, Prince Philip. As he was rushed to hospital for the third time in eight months, it’s believed murmurings have begun behind Palace walls for a succession plan – one that is likely to sensationally see Prince William take the throne over his father, Prince Charles.

“The Queen is a tremendously strong-willed woman but she is not keen to face public life without Prince Philip beside her,” royal expert Bill Coles tells Woman’s Day. “Now that he’s been in hospital for another extended stay, she recognises that, at the age of 91, he can’t keep up with her. The Queen is determined to be there for Prince Philip. He’s the love of her life.”

Our sources have revealed that when British Prime Minister David Cameron was informed the Queen, 86, was considering stepping down, he addressed the matter in their weekly meeting. “He hopes to convince the Queen to appoint William as her successor,” says our exclusive source from inside the British Conservative Party. “The Prime Minister offered his opinion that were Prince William to succeed the Queen he would be ‘a vibrant monarch and one that would unite his country behind him’.

“There is considerable concern that Prince Charles is less likeable and that the prospect of his wife Camilla becoming queen would be deeply unpopular with much of Britain.” It’s believed the Prime Minister’s subtle hints were not taken kindly by the sharp monarch. “He didn’t get a warm response from the Queen, who would only say, ‘I believe William has the makings of an extraordinary king – when his time comes.’”

Posh and Becks: We’re adopting!

Posh and Becks: We're adopting!

David’s fears for his wife’s health see them ramp up their search for a baby.

It was the worst-kept secret in Hollywood — even David and Victoria Beckham themselves couldn’t keep from hinting that they’re planning to add a fifth child to their famous brood. But this time we won’t be on Posh bump watch. Friends have confirmed in a world-exclusive to Woman’s Day that the couple are deep in the planning stages of adopting! “They were seriously thinking about it in the months before Victoria fell pregnant with Harper,” says our insider, who adds that Posh and Becks were looking at opportunities to adopt a little girl from Africa.

David couldn’t be happier with the idea of baby number five. “If we’re lucky enough, we hope to have one more,” he revealed in a TV interview earlier this year. And our insider says he’s been keen on adoption for years — “but Victoria always resisted because she quite enjoys being pregnant and thought she’d have no trouble having more kids.” But now it’s thought that Victoria, 38 – who last month teasingly told US magazine Glamour she’d “never say never” to another baby – has decided to give up her long-held dream to give birth to the fifth and final member of her brood.

Sources say she could have been warned by doctors not to attempt a fifth caesarean section, with Brooklyn, 13, Romeo, 9, Cruz, 7, and Harper, 13 months, all believed to have been born under the surgical procedure. “Most women can safely have up to three C-sections. Each repeat C-section is generally more complicated than the last,” explains obstetrician/gynaecologist Dr Roger W. Harms, who says the surgery weakens the uterine wall, which could affect future pregnancies.

“The surgical risks must be weighed carefully against the desire for subsequent pregnancies,” Dr Harms says. “Posh felt a family of seven would be perfect and liked the idea of calling it quits by the time she reached 40,” explains the close Beckham insider. “But now David worries that a fifth pregnancy could damage her health, and she too is not sure she wants to put her body through that again — especially because she works so hard to lose weight, and has a busy career.”

A bub for West Tiger’s star Beau Ryan

A bub for West Tiger's star Beau Ryan

NRL Footy Show star Beau Ryan is to wed long-time love Kara and become a dad.

Walking down the aisle seven months pregnant may not be the way Kara Orrell pictured herself marrying the man of her dreams. But her soon-to-be hubby, Wests Tigers star player Beau Ryan, reckons she’ll be the most stunning bride he’s ever seen.

“I find the baby bump is a very sexy thing,” says The Footy Show regular, who will marry Kara at the end of the 2012 NRL season, and can’t wait to be a dad. “I’m big on family. If I could have a million kids, I would, but we’ll probably settle on two or three.” Falling in love at first sight eight years ago, when they were still teenagers, the devoted couple had always planned to start a family, but they thought they’d have a year or two of being husband and wife before the responsibility of parenthood.

“It does seem like everything is happening at once,” says Kara, 27, who decided she’d give her body a rest from contraception pre-wedding and was pregnant within a month. “It was a surprise, but it’s not like we’re complaining. Everything is perfect. We already feel like we’re married anyway.” Falling pregnant may have been a cinch for the pair, but Beau, 27, struggled when it came to proposing while they were on their dream holiday in the US last October.

With a stunning solitaire diamond engagement ring in his pocket and his sweetheart on his arm, he thought New York’s Central Park was the perfect place to pop the question. But, while Kara had no idea what he was up to, she wasn’t making things easy for her nervous Beau.

Church wants women to ‘submit’ to their husbands

Should women have to "submit" to their husbands?

The Anglican church in Sydney has changed wedding vows so that women promise to "submit" to their husbands

Women traditionally promise to “obey” their husbands when undertaking marriage vows, but the Anglican diocese in Sydney has decided a woman must now pledge to “submit” when she gets married.

The new wedding vows have been branded sexist by commentators, who say the change in wording is a step backwards for the church.

Olympics outrage: Female athletes fly economy, men fly business

The diocese, which also opposes the full ordination of women and supports an exclusively male leadership doctrine, has denied sexism in the new vows written by the liturgical panel of church’s Sydney diocese.

The panel’s chairman, Bishop of South Sydney Robert Forsyth, spoke out in defence of the change saying the choice of the word ‘submit’ has biblical groundings.

“The Bible never said women must obey their husbands but Paul and Peter did say submit, which I think is a much more responsive, nuanced word,” he said.

“I can see why, if you just came upon this, not having read the New Testament about Christ loving the church, the church responding to him, it would look rather odd, just like the word ‘obey’ would look rather odd.”

His explanation has not satisfied critics. Muriel Porter, a Melbourne academic who writes on Anglican Church issues told the Sydney Morning Herald she was horrified at the use of the word which had connotations of slavery.

“It is a very dangerous concept, especially in terms of society’s propensity for domestic violence,” she said.

The new vows have yet to be approved by the church, but are already being used in in some Sydney parishes.

Bottle feeding ‘like AIDS’, expectant mothers told

Bottle feeding 'like AIDS', expectant mothers told

A leading breastfeeding advocate has sparked outrage by telling expectant mothers that baby formula was “like AIDS”.

The shocking statement was made during an Australian Breastfeeding Association class that an undercover Sunday Mail journalist attended after a pregnant woman called the paper to complain about a previous class.

Couples were also told baby formula killed a child “every 30 seconds” and should be avoided at all costs.

Related: I breastfed my son until he was three

“Formula is a little bit like AIDS,” the instructor — a celebrated member of the association — told the class.

“Nobody actually dies from AIDS; what happens is AIDS destroys your immune system and then you just die of anything and that’s what happens with formula. It provides no antibodies.

“Every 30 seconds a baby dies from infections due to a lack of breastfeeding and the use of bottles, artificial milks and other risky products. Every 30 seconds.”

Medical professionals have furiously rebuked the claims, saying that while breastfeeding is “optimal”, formula feeding is 100 percent safe.

“We highly support breastfeeding,” Royal Australasian College of Physicians spokesperson Susan Moloney said.

“It is the optimal form of nutrition for any human infant. But in the cases where it isn’t able to be done, formula feeding is safe in Australia.”

Parents have also attacked the statement, accusing breastfeeding advocates of “scaremongering”.

“Not all people can, or want to, breastfeed and while there are other options around why should they?” Brisbane father Tim Groves wrote.

“If formula was that bad for infants don’t you think it would have been removed from the market by now? Leave the raising of children to the parents and stop the scaremongering campaign.”

Ipswich mother Dianne Ward agreed, calling for an end to breastfeeding advocates who make mothers feel like “failures” if they can’t breastfeed.

“What a horrible thing to tell an expectant or new mum,” she wrote. “I am a firm believer in breastfeeding, but there are some mums who can’t breastfeed.

“They should not be made to feel like a failure because it happens.”

The Australian Breastfeeding Association has launched an investigation into the comments, with its president Rachel Fuller branding the statements “inappropriate”.
