*Big Brother*’s Bradley: ‘What I’ve learned about women’

Big Brother's Bradley: 'What I’ve learned about women'

Big Brother’s Bradley shares his lessons in love with Shari Nementzik.

Q: Which BB girl would you date outside of the house?

A: I could see myself hooking up with Estelle outside the house, there is the possibility of that. Apart from her I can’t see myself with any of the other girls outside the house.

Q: Describe your dream girl.

A: My dream girl basically has to have three things. She has to be attractive because I’m shallow. She has to have a sense of humour and she has to enjoy The Dark Knight movie.

Q: What have you learned about women from your time in the house?

A: I’ve learnt many things about girls. I’ve learned that the majority of girls do not have as much as a sense of humour as men do. I’ve learned that sometimes it is best not to talk to a girl if they seem to be in a bad mood and you should also not ask a girl how old she is or comment on her age.

Kate-flation: Duchess makes clothes more expensive

Kate-flation: Duchess makes clothes more expensive

Catherine's engagement dress, favourite heels and clutch have rocketed in price.

The Duchess of Cambridge has been praised for her thrifty fashion choices — so it’s ironic that she is driving up the prices of her favourite items.

Several of Catherine’s wardrobe essentials cost up to 30 percent more since being given the royal seal of approval, a phenomenon dubbed “Kate-flation”.

The duchess’s ubiquitous nude LK Bennett sledge shoes were on sale for $265 before Catherine wore them, but will now set shoppers back $300.

Another favourite, an LK Bennett clutch bag, cost $215 this time last year, but now retails for $245.

But it’s Catherine’s blue Issa engagement dress that has seen the most astonishing rise. The blue silk wrap dress cost $590 when the duchess bought it to wear for her momentous announcement, but now sells for $760, a rise of more than $150.

LK Bennett has denied it increased its prices to capitalise on Catherine’s royal influence, with a spokesperson insisting rising costs has forced them to put up the prices of certain items.

Meet the real ‘Siri’

Meet the real 'Siri'

Karen Jacobsen is in your iPhone as the voice of Siri and in your car as the GPS Girl

Allow me to introduce you to someone. Actually, you may not need an introduction — you know this woman — in fact you’ve probably spent a fair bit of time together.

You’ve had weekends away together, she’s given you guidance and advice and helped you out of some sticky situations. She the one you trust to read your emails and text messages, and you might even rely on her to wake you up in the morning.

Your say: Blackberry or iPhone?

But it’s not all sunshine and light in this relationship. I can almost guarantee you’ve yelled at her as well.

Her name is Karen Jacobsen, and if the name doesn’t sound familiar, the voice definitely will. Meet the GPS Girl, or, “Siri”.

Knows as the GPS Girl™, Karen’s recordings are resident in 50 million cars around the world as the female voice of four major GPS brands, and the Australian voice of Siri, being carried around in more than 37 million iPhones worldwide.

As well as being in your car telling you where to go and answering your questions on the iPhone, the now New Yorker, originally from Mackay in Queensland, is the voice taking messages when your friends don’t answer their Vodafone mobiles, and you may have even spent some time listening to her while on hold to Centrelink among other call centre services.

And yes, sometimes she gets recognised.

“It’s the GPS voice that people are familiar with,” she says.

“I have people turning around in the supermarket because they think I’m a friend, and then they apologise when they don’t recognise me.”

But the real apologies are laid on when they discover where they’ve heard Karen’s familiar voice before.

“It’s easy to get angry with your GPS and people are constantly apologising for yelling at me or calling me horrible names. People really have a relationship with their GPS,” she says.

“I even met a woman who said to me ‘I’m sorry I strangled you’ the other day – she got her GPS tangled in a cable and it ended up getting stuck, she was so embarrassed!

“I just think it’s funny.”

After the shock wears off and the “I’m sorrys” are offloaded, then of course come the requests.

“I’m not quite yet sick of saying ‘you have reached your destination’ when people ask me to, and then they ask me things they would ask Siri.”

Though Karen takes directions from a Tom-Tom from time to time, she is yet to join the iPhone revolution and employ her own voice’s services as a digital assistant.

“It would be a bit weird,” she says, giggling.

If Karen wasn’t a voice over artist she’d be a performer.

“I was always going to be some kind of show girl, and I did spend some time singing professionally,” she says.

“But these voiceover opportunities have opened up a whole lot of windows and taken me on a path I hadn’t considered.”

Inspired by her stint in voicing directions, Karen has been doing the rounds on the public speaking circuit giving “directions for life” and has recently released a self-help book entitled “The GPS Girl’s Road Map for Your Future.”

“I believe you can recalculate in life at any time, just like you can when you’re driving a car,” she says.

And she’s picked up a few other practical life lessons on her journey – something we can all learn from.

“Be kind to Siri, she’s there to help,” says the digital PA’s voice.

And now that we’ve put a face to the vocals, perhaps you’ll think twice before attempting to strangle the GPS as well.

Your say: Do you have a strong relationship with your GPS or Siri?

Nicole Kidman has climbed the A-list higher than many actresses would dare to dream, and has a blockbuster career that has won her millions of fans from around the world. Yet nothing intrigues people more than her fascinating – and mysterious – personal life.

It’s something the 45-year-old mum-of-four has kept close to her chest, until now. In a candid interview, Nicole has finally lifted the lid on much-speculated, never-confirmed details about her life, including her marriage with ex-husband Tom Cruise and her struggle to have children.

Now happily married to country rocker Keith Urban, Nicole made no secret of the fact that she was relieved when she divorced devout Scientologist Tom in 2001, famously cheering as she left the California divorce office. “I got married really fast and really young. But I don’t regret that because it got me [adopted children] Bella and Connor, and I did have a fantastic marriage for a long period,” Nicole tells Who magazine.

She doesn’t hide the fact that the split threw her life into turmoil. “I had to dig deep and fight my way through the depression,” the actress reveals. Bec snaps: I’ve had enough

Bec snaps: I've had enough

The cracks show in Bec and Lleyton Hewitt’s seven-year marriage.

Bec Hewitt may be contemplating life as a single mum, with her tennis-star husband Lleyton crushing her dreams of more children and refusing her plea to move back to Australia. The former Home And Away star, 29, gave up her TV career for life on the road with Lleyton, 31. Now she is at her lowest ebb in years as she battles tense times within their seven-year marriage.

Worried friends say the romance in the glamour couple’s relationship has faded and they are at loggerheads over a cluster of personal issues, including Lleyton’s refusal to have more children. He and Bec already have three kids – Mia, 6, Cruz, 3, and Ava, who turns 2 on October 19. “Being the content mother of a large brood of kids has been Bec’s dream from childhood and she’s never been secretive about wanting to have more siblings for Mia, Cruz and Ava,” confides a friend, who praises Bec as “the best wife and mum” and reveals she’s livid at the way she is being denied her dream.

“They [Bec and Lleyton] were once proud to boast they’d never had a cross word, but they’re arguing about this all the time and things are getting worse. “Right now you can’t imagine these two gushing over each other and kissing in public the way they used to – they’re both too annoyed,” the friend adds. “To be fair, Lleyton has always been open about hating the chaos of travelling with a big entourage.

He often pats Bec on the back by saying he doesn’t know how she’s managed over the years, raising the kids in hotel rooms and rented houses or holding the fort at home as a single mum. “He has always maintained they would stop at three children, while Bec always assumed she’d be able to talk him round.” Bec is said to have been devastated by rumours earlier this year that she was pregnant.

The world’s luckiest woman spills the beans on Spanx, Fifty Shades Of Grey and what she gets up to with her heart-throb hubby.

She’s married to one of the sexiest men on the planet, but Deborra-lee Furness is just like the rest of us when it comes to surviving a blah day. “It’s OK for a chick to wear Spanx,” Deb revealed on Network Ten’s Can Of Worms. “I wouldn’t leave home without one!”

Deb also admitted she wished she could have a superpower, saying, “[I want to] eat whatever I want and lose weight.” Hugh Jackman’s wife of 16 years didn’t hold back when faced with tough questions host Chrissie Swan threw at her. When asked whether she’s done a nudie run, Deb didn’t even blush.

“When I first started dating my husband he used to get off the tram [because] he was doing a theatrical show,” she remembers. “And the first night he came home I went to meet him at the tram stop and I just (mimics flashing breasts) – he nearly died.”

Mum to Oscar, 12, and Ava, 7, Deb also weighed in on the best-selling book Fifty Shades Of Grey. “It is complete fantasy, it is not reality,” she says. “Men have had porn forever and enjoyed it and women are doing the same thing.”

Delta and Darren back on!

Delta and Darren back on!

Despite rumours of a split, The Voice stars are very much an item.

Their clandestine romance reportedly fizzled as quickly as it began on the set of The Voice, but it seems Delta Goodrem and TV host Darren McMullen are back together.

Dressed in shorts and sunnies, the couple looked more like extras from a romantic comedy than celebs as they got hot and heavy playing golf in LA last week. Ever the gentleman, Darren was only too happy to help Delta with her technique, embracing her from behind and guiding her swing.

After a flirty round, the pair stopped for a sneaky kiss in the car park – the first time they’ve been busted making out in public. Despite being photographed hanging out in LA since The Voice wrapped, both Delta and Darren have refused to comment on their romance. “He’s a really close friend of mine,” Delta said in August.

“I really enjoy his company, but we’re friends, just friends. I’ve learned from my past relationships I’d like to keep things to myself. I’m learning as I go.” But friends say things are very much on between the couple. “He makes her laugh and she loves talking to him, and they are definitely having fun,” a friend of Delta’s tells Woman’s Day.

Ashton tells Demi: You have to let me go

Ashton tells Demi: You have to let me go

With marriage to Mila on the horizon, the actor begs his ex for a divorce.

It was the conversation with Demi Moore that Ashton Kutcher couldn’t put off any longer, even though he knew it would break his fragile estranged wife’s heart all over again. As the actor’s relationship with Mila Kunis heats up, those close to Ashton – who was busted cheating on Demi with a 22-year-old on their sixth wedding anniversary last year – say he’s planning to propose to his new love at Christmas.

But first he has to finalise his divorce from Demi who, despite their rocky relationship, was said to be still desperately in love with Ashton and clinging to the hope they’ll one day reconcile. “Ashton has been trying to take things slowly with Demi because he’s mindful of the state she’s in,” a source tells Woman’s Day exclusively.

“It has been difficult for him because he still cares deeply about her and feels terrible about what happened. But it’s time to move on with his life – he’s a changed man with Mila and is crazy in love with her.” According to Heat magazine, Ashton, 34, is preparing to whisk Mila to Bali, where they holidayed earlier this year, and pop the question. The proposal won’t come a moment too soon for his former That ’70s Show co-star.

“They’re moving fast, but neither of them has ever been so happy,” a source tells Heat. “Mila says she’s been waiting for a man like Ashton all her life and wants nothing more than to marry him.” And it appears Demi has finally accepted that there’s nothing she can do to win back her husband, agreeing in an emotional heart-to-heart to divorce Ashton and leave him free to marry 29-year-old Mila.

Nicole Kidman refuses racist script

Nicole Kidman and Connor Cruise

Nicole Kidman has definitely stepped out of her comfort zone in her role in controversial new film The Paperboy, participating in risqué sex scenes and posing nearly nude to promote the film, but she drew the line at using the ‘N’ word.

The 45-year-old actress and mother enthusiastically accepted the role of a trashy, bleach-blonde woman in the dark film set in the 1960s, but she did request that racial slurs be removed from the script out of respect for her adopted African American son, Connor.

“I just didn’t feel it was right for the character,” she explained.

“I have a son who is African American. I just didn’t feel like it was right. What I try to do as an actor is fulfil a director’s vision. I have opinions, but at the same time I’m not there to stop him from anything. I’ve really tried to do that in every film. I never want to pull them off their vision.”

Director Lee Daniels revealed he welcomed Kidman’s request, excusing her from using the offensive word after she had been so willing to cooperate in other controversial scenes.

“I asked her to use the ‘N’ word,” Daniels said in a press conference.

“I could feel the racial tension was there in the town. She said, ‘I won’t do it’. I told my producer, then he mapped it out — ‘Lee, day one she is on a washing machine, day two she is urinating on (co-star) Zac Efron, day three she’s having telepathic sex… I think you can forgive her.”

Wife to Keith Urban and mother of adopted children Isabella, Connor, and daughters Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, Nicole has her hands full with family, but has revealed she wants to take on more challenging roles in the future.

“I just wanted to push myself to do something I haven’t done before. I want to feel challenged, ripped open, to bring discomfort to myself and it’s really hard to find those roles and people who will do it with you,” she said.

“But at this point in my life I don’t want to be scared. I’m going to push through.”

Nicole is currently in Nice, France filming a Grace Kelly biopic.
