The Duchess of Cambridge broke the news the world had been waiting to hear yesterday, announcing that she was pregnant with her first child.
But the joyful announcement also saw her admitted to hospital suffering from acute morning sickness.
Kate is “continuing to feel better” after spending a second day in King Edward VII hospital, London suffering from the rare condition hyperemesis gravidarum, where vomiting can be so severe it’s hard to retain food or liquid.
Prince William, who has been by his wife’s side since sharing the news of her pregnancy, thanked well-wishers on behalf of Kate for their support.
“The Duchess of Cambridge is continuing to feel better,” the pair said through a statement from St James’s Palace.
“She and the Duke are immensely grateful for the good wishes they have received.
“She will remain in hospital at present and will continue to be treated for Hyperemesis Gravidarum.”
Kate is expected to remain in hospital for the next few days and has been ordered to rest.
It is understood that Kate’s pregnancy is not yet past the 12-week point, but the pair were forced to make an early announcement due to Kate’s condition.
While all the members of the Middleton family and the royal family was delighted with the baby news, they were only told not long before Kate was admitted to hospital.
A royal spokesman said that the royal couple became aware of the pregnancy only “recently” themselves.
