What’s happened to Meg Ryan?

Meg Ryan has stepped out looking suspiciously wrinkle-free for her 51 years.

She was spotted on the red carpet in Sicily on Thursday with some seriously plump lips and heavy eye make-up.

Meg was in town for the Italian film festival and wore a simple long sleeve black top and a flared mid length skirt.

Kim and Kanye name their child North West

Kim and Kanye name their child North West

It looks like Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have decided on a baby name.

The pair have named their daughter North West a source confirmed to People.

E News have also confirmed the name via a source.

“They will call her Nori for short,” the source said. “She has black straight hair! Lots of it! Looks like a good mix of both of them [Kanye and Kim] but more like Kim. She’s adorable!

“Kanye is so in love with her. He won’t leave her side.”

Earlier this week it was widely reported that the pair had named their child Kaidence Donda West after a nurse claimed she had heard Kardashian family members mention the name numerous times .

While neither the Kardashian nor West families have commented on the child’s name, Kim has spoken for the first time about how it feels to be a mother, telling Ryan Seacrest via email on Tuesday that she is doing well. “Can’t believe it. So crazy!” she told the radio host.

One has won! Queen delighted as her horse wins at Ascot

One has won! Queen delighted as her horse wins at Ascot

The Queen celebrating her win.

Queen Elizabeth is usually the picture of poise but even she couldn’t resist jumping for joy when her horse won at Royal Ascot yesterday.

The 87-year-old monarch was ecstatic when her thoroughbred filly Estimate won the prestigious Gold Cup by a length.

As Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie leapt about the royal box shrieking, the Queen was slightly more reserved, clapping her hands and grinning at her racing manager John Warren.

It was a rare show of genuine delight from the Queen, who usually looks rather more grumpy than jubilant, something which can be excused given her advanced age and punishing work schedule.

It is the first time a reigning monarch’s horse has won the Gold Cup in its 207-year history.

The Queen had been scheduled to present the trophy to the winner, but her son Prince Andrew had to step in and do the honours, as she couldn’t exactly present a prize to herself.

She couldn’t stop smiling as she walked down to the parade ring to inspect the horse and accept her cup.

“It’s amazing, this is her passion, every year she strives to have winners and to have the big one at Royal Ascot means so much to her and to everyone involved in racing,” the Queen’s grandson Peter Phillips said.

“A win like this is truly, truly special.”

Deadly virus hits the nation’s capital

Deadly virus danger declining in NSW

A boy hospitalised with enterovirus 71 during Vietnam's outbreak of the deadly virus.

Hospitals in Australia’s capital have been ordered to establish an enhanced surveillance program following the outbreak of a dangerous childhood virus in NSW.

A nasty strain of enterovirus 71 (EV71) is believed to have killed four young children and put more than 100 in hospital with complications like meningitis and encephalitis (brain swelling) in NSW.

Related: More children hospitalised with killer virus

ACT Health told aww.com.au an EV71 advisory had been issued to the territory’s GP practices and hospital clinics and that it was sharing information with NSW Health.

“Enhanced surveillance is being undertaken at hospitals for EV71, however there has been no indication of an increase in serious cases in the ACT,” a spokesperson said.

“One advisory was sent to GP practices and hospital clinics. As there is no indication of an increase in the ACT no further advisories or alerts are required at this time.”

EV71 usually causes mild symptoms but can in rare cases, most often among under-twos, cause severe neurological symptoms.

A new strain, which has been circulating and causing deaths in Asia in recent years, is currently dominant for the first time in Australia.

Because it is not a notifiable disease, ACT Health said it could not provide figures on EV71 infections.

World Health Organisation Report: One in three women are victims of domestic violence

Report: One in three women are victims of domestic violence

Shocking statistics have emerged about the rate of women affected by domestic violence across the world.

According to the World Health Organisation, more than one third of all women are victims of domestic violence with Asia being the worst affected.

In high income countries including Australia the figure is almost one in four.

By gathering figures provided by 81 countries, WHO has found rates of abuse against women which the organisation describes as a “shocking phenomenon”.

“These to me are shocking statistics,” Flavia Bustreo, heads WHO family, women’s and children’s health division.

“It’s also shocking that this phenomenon cuts across the entire world.”

Asia was found to have the highest prevalence of domestic abuse, where data from Bangladesh, East Timor, India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and Thailand where 37.7 per cent of women were affected.

The Middle East and Sub-Saharan Africa were almost as bad where prevalence averaged 37 and 36.6 per cent respectively.

The study also linked rates of violence to impacts on women’s health, the report saying violence leaves scars long after bruises disappear and broken bones heal.

“These data really show the tremendous toll violence has on the health of women,” said Claudia Garcia-Moren, a WHO specialist on gender, reproductive rights, sexual health and adolescence.

Women who experienced abuse were found to be far more likely to contract a range of sexually transmitted diseases and were twice as likely to suffer from depression and develop an alcohol problem compared to those who did not have a violent partner.

Children of abusive relationships were also found to suffer, being more likely to become abusers or victims in adulthood.

Women who suffered abuse were more likely to have an unwanted pregnancy, an abortion, or an underweight baby.

Duchess Kate to have natural birth where Wills was born

Duchess Kate to have natural birth where Wills was born

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, has chosen to give birth naturally in the same suite where Diana gave birth to princes William and Harry.

Palace sources have revealed that the royal mum-to-be is certainly not too posh to push, choosing to have her baby naturally at the Lindo Wing at St Mary’s in Paddington, West London. They also say that Kate and Prince William do not know the sex of the baby.

The 31-year-old Duchess, who’s expecting to give birth in mid-July, is sticking to tradition by choosing the private wing, which usually caters to complex or multiple births and could cost up to $16,000.

The wing has a number of deluxe suites, each with dedicated kitchen staff on hand. Catherine has also decided to use royal surgeon-gynaecologists Marcus Setchell and Alan Farthing to help deliver her baby. Dr Setchell will take control of Catherine’s delivery, assisted by Dr Farthing. Dr Setchell has been a royal surgeon-gynaecologist for 18 years and delivered two babies for Sophie, Countess of Wessex – Lady Louise Windsor, nine, and Viscount Severn, four.

When the third-in-line to the throne is born, a royal salute of 41 guns will be fired to mark the occasion.

A palace spokesman has said there is “still some discussion” about where Catherine and the royal baby will live following the birth. But previous reports have hinted that Catherine will reside with her parents at their $8 million Berkshire mansion for around six weeks when William returns to work. During that time, the finishing touches will be made to the couple’s new apartment at Kensington Palace.
