Nigella Lawson’s husband Charles Saatchi announces dirvoce

Nigella Lawson's husband Charles Saatchi announces dirvoce

Charles Saatchi has begun divorce proceedings against his wife of 10 years Nigella Lawson just weeks after he was pictured with his hands around her throat and tweaking her nose.

The multi-millionaire art collector has decided to divorce his wife because she didn’t come to his defence when the images made world headlines. He said he had made the decision without consulting Nigella.

“I am sorry to announce that Nigella Lawson and I are getting divorced,” he told The Mail On Sunday.

“I feel that I have clearly been a disappointment to Nigella during the last year or so, and I am disappointed that she was advised to make no public comment to explain that I abhor violence of any kind against women, and have never abused her physically in any way.”

In the wake of last month’s incident, Nigella moved out of the family home with her 17-year-old son Bruno.

Throughout the aftermath of the images being release, Nigella has refused to comment.

Charles, who has commented numerous times on the incident, says that on the same day the pictures were published, he was ordered by his wife’s PR advisor Mark Hutchinson to apologise for the assault and admit he was “ashamed”.

But Charles refused and instead said to his wife his wife: “Are you crazy, you know that’s not the truth.”

Nigella told her husband, “I think we have no choice,” which sparked an argument. Charles then told Nigella to “pack her bags and go”.

Charles continues to maintain that his actions were not violent and says in his statement that Nigella has previously acted the same way towards him.

“This is heartbreaking for both of us as our love was very deep, but in the last year we have become estranged and drifted apart… The row photographed at Scott’s restaurant could equally have been Nigella grasping my neck to hold my attention – as indeed she has done in the past.”

She’s always denied having breast implants, but Victoria Beckham’s bust has changed dramatically during her 16 years in the spotlight.

Singer Jewel to play June Carter Cash in biopic

You may remember her from a few pop hits back in the 90’s but now Jewel steps into the limelight again. Here she talks to Emily Brooks about fame, motherhood and taking her two-year-old son on tour.
Jewel

You may remember her from a few pop hits back in the 90’s but now Jewel steps into the limelight again, this time as June Carter Cash in the Lifetime biopic, Ring of Fire. Here she talks to Emily Brooks about fame, motherhood and taking her two-year-old son on tour.

When Jewel was asked to play June Carter Cash she certainly hesitated. Playing the iconic American country singer with such little acting experience, and so much personal respect, was a lot to consider. In the end, the tribute the biopic made to June’s legacy left Jewel with one answer; yes.

“I saw it as a time to tell June’s story”, says the singer whose role has been compared to Reese Witherspoon’s Oscar winning performance in the 2005 film, Walk the Line. Despite many critics labelling Reese a hard act to follow, Jewel doesn’t believe she’s in competition with the Oscar winner, suggesting Ring of Fire tells June’s story while Walk the Line saw her merely a supporting act.

“To categorise June as just the wife of Johnny is such a disservice to such an amazing talent and amazing life”, she tells The Weekly.

“So I just took this as if you saw Walk the Line and you want to know more about June”.

Ring of Fire tells June’s story, beginning in the 1930’s when, at the age of ten, she was singing country music with The Carter Family, soon flourishing into a solo singing and comedic act. This took her around the American countryside and into the arms a couple of men, lastly Johnny Cash. Viewers watch June battle through her first two marriages but after the first 30 minutes of the film when the two meet backstage for a second time and Johnny says “I’m gonna marry you one day”, to which June retorts, “Well I just can’t wait”, you know how the plot will progress.

Jewel’s introduction to music wasn’t so different from June’s, only a few decades later. The singer who’s sold over 27 million albums, started singing at the age of eight with her father and when she ended up jobless, it was a talent which ended up saving her.

“I ended up homeless when I was 18 because I refused to have sex with the boss when he propositioned me, so he refused to give me my pay check. I couldn’t pay my rent so I started singing for money”, says Jewel who looking back, explains she wouldn’t change a thing.

“I think I even thanked him on my first record.”

Despite her debut album in 1995 making its way up the charts, Jewel didn’t rush into another one and hasn’t done so throughout her entire career. The singer has taken years between albums and projects, which is another reason taking on June Carter Cash’s role was a huge decision for Jewel. Her humbling background is the reason.

“When that first record did take off, I thought you don’t have to put pressure on yourself, following it up, you don’t have to be the biggest thing ever and do these massive tours. And I thought if I save my money, I never have to work again, and how extraordinary is that. Why not enjoy that sense of liberation instead of putting more pressure on yourself”, she tells The Weekly.

“I would never have a six-figure mortgage or a private plane, which would mean that I never had to profit from my music again. I wouldn’t have to have another hit, and it gave me the freedom to experiment, and it gave me the freedom to be a human. It gave me the freedom to follow my heart and the freedom to stop and fall in love”.

After ten years together, Jewel wed professional rodeo cowboy, Ty Murray in 2008. The two now live on their ranch in Stephenville, Texas with their two-year-old son, Kase.

“For me, that’s what feels like winning, that’s what success is for me, but I totally understand that other people might scratch their heads and think that she blew her opportunity to make more millions touring,” she says.

The singer has just released her greatest hits album and is currently touring the U.S in small bouts; this time with a companion, much smaller than the regular groupie.

“I decided to do it like I’ve always done it except bring my son along and on paper that looks really good; we’d play all day and I’d put him to bed at 7pm and put makeup on and go on stage,” Jewel tells The Weekly.

“But going to bed on rock’n’roll hours and waking up on mummy hours is quite the challenge.”

Jewel is currently taking a break from touring, holidaying in Colorado with her family. Now, with a husband, a son and a career reaching almost two decades, Jewel counts herself lucky but explains it didn’t come easily as an 18 year-old on the streets.

“I knew statistically that I should probably end up on drugs and very unhappy, and I wanted to beat the laws, and that doesn’t happen by accident, that happens by planning”, she says.

“I wanted my life to be happy more than I wanted to be famous.”

Kate’s cousin spills: Duchess having a girl called Elizabeth

What did you do to bring on labour?

Mum-to-be Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, in London last month.

The Duchess of Cambridge’s Australian cousin says Kate is having a girl who will be named Elizabeth “in the next few days”.

Despite having never met Kate — who is her first cousin once removed (Lillian and Kate’s mother Carole have the same grandmother) — Lillian has spoken extensively about the next heir to the British throne.

“I think it is going to happen in the next few days, anywhere between two in the afternoon and just before 12 at night,” she told the Daily Telegraph.

“It is going to be a girl. It will weigh under five pounds (2.26kg). I don’t think (they will) pick a peculiar name. I’ve got a feeling they will call her Elizabeth.”

Lillian thinks Kate will be a great mother because she has the same way with children William’s mother Princess Diana was famous for.

“I think she will make a marvellous mother. I don’t know; it is something in her face – and she has got that attitude with children when you watch her on the television,” she said.

“No she doesn’t (seem like a regular royal). She just acts natural. Nothing has gone to her head. She is a very lovely person. I could sit and listen to her for hours. I used to love Diana.”

Beyonce and Jay-Z spend $8k on Kim and Kanye’s baby

Beyonce and Jay-Z spend $8k on Kim and Kanye’s baby

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s baby girl North was always going to be spoilt rotten, but superstars Jay-Z and Beyonce have given her a good head-start.

The pair dropped in to visit the new parents at Kim’s mum Kris Jenner’s Beverly Hills home bearing more than $8000 worth of gifts.

Among them were personalised Christian Dior baby booties and a three-piece sterling silver Elsa Peretti Padova baby set from Tiffany’s with North’s name engraved on each item.

“Kanye is one of Jay-Z’s closest friends, so he wanted to get the best gift. They’ve had a girl themselves, so they know the right type of present,” a source close to the couple says.

The pair also took their one-year-old daughter Blue Ivy to meet baby North, nicknamed Nori by her parents.

“She’s old enough now to be really interested in babies,” the source says.

And while Kim and Beyonce seemed to get off to a rocky start, it looks like they’re on the way to being the best of friends.

“Any bad blood between the ladies has all been brushed under the carpet now Kim’s a mum,” says the source. “Beyonce was even sharing weight-loss tips with her.”

Fifteen things you didn’t know about the royal baby

Why William and Kate got back together

William and Kate are expecting their first child, but it could arrive earlier than anticipated.

As the world eagerly awaits news the Duchess of Cambridge has gone into labour, we uncover 15 little-known facts surrounding the birth of the baby of the decade.

1. KATE’S PUSH PRESENT: Some wealthy men buy their wives a diamond ring as a “push present” when they give birth — William has reportedly bought Kate a luxury villa on the exclusive Caribbean island of Mustique, where the couple have enjoyed many luxurious beach holidays.

2. EXTRA HOLY WATER: Ordinary tap water will not suffice when the baby is baptised — the Archbishop of London ships water directly from the River Jordan for all royal baptisms.

3. DESIGNER DUDS: Whatever the gender, the Baby of Cambridge will be decked out in designer gear from the very beginning — its christening gown will be custom-made by the Queen’s designer Angela Kelly and will be a replica of the dress worn by Queen Victoria’s daughter Victoria.

4. HYPNOBIRTH?: Kate is reportedly opting for a hypno-birth, a drug-free technique that focuses on meditation, breathing exercises and visualisation techniques to reduce pain and anxiety.

5. 22ND CENTURY KING OR QUEEN: If the baby lives to be as old as Queen Elizabeth (87) it will become the first monarch of the 22nd century.

6. ANOTHER GINGER? Although the baby will likely have Kate’s dark hair, bookmakers are offering 7/1 odds it will have ginger locks like Uncle Harry.

7. OFFICIAL ANNOUNCMENT: The birth will not be announced in a press release or televised address but with a special notice posted on a wooden easel by the front gates of Buckingham Palace, continuing the tradition started when William was born in 1982.

8. YOGA MUM: Kate has reportedly become a yoga devotee during her pregnancy. The Duchess took up the hobby to increase her flexibility in preparation for the birth and to help her regain her figure afterwards.

9. BABY BONUS: The birth of the baby is expected to boost the global economy by more than $425 million.

10. MONARCH MAKING HISTORY: The Queen will also be making history when she meets the new arrival — the last monarch to meet a great-grandchild in direct line to the throne was Queen Victoria.

11. NO NANNY: Breaking with royal tradition, Kate has shunned hired help and will be relying on her mother Carole Middleton to assist her in the first weeks after the child’s birth. She will be the first royal woman to get by without a fulltime nanny in generations.

12. PRINCE OF WALES: If the baby is a boy, he may have the same title as his grandfather Prince Charles. The Prince of Wales is traditionally given to the male heir to the throne. It is not known what title a female heir would inherit.

13. BALMORAL BREAK: The Queen has invited William, Kate and baby to Balmoral for a week of rest and recuperation after the birth.

14. WHAT’S IN A NAME?: The favourite name for a girl is Alexandra, for a boy, George.

15. COMMON GROUND: The baby will be the first heir in more than 300 years to have a commoner for a mother.
