Camilla spills: Baby will be born ‘by the end of the week’

Camilla spills: Baby will be born 'by the end of the week'

Camilla

The Duchess of Cornwall has given the strongest indication yet that the birth of the royal baby is imminent, letting slip that she expects the newest royal by “the end of the week”.

Camilla told well-wishers in Cornwall that she and Charles were on high alert and waiting for William to call and let them know Kate was in labour.

“We are all just waiting by the telephone,” Camilla said. “We are hopeful that by the end of the week he or she will be here.”

It will be Charles’ first grandchild.

Kensington Palace has refused to reveal Kate’s exact due date, only saying she was due in “mid-July”.

Sources pinpointed the due date as July 13, meaning Kate is now several days overdue, which is not unusual for a first baby.

The Duchess has been staying with her parents in Berkshire but William has the next few days off so she will be returning to their cottage in the grounds of Kensington Palace to spend time with him.

The palace is just a few minutes’ drive from St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, where Kate is due to give birth.

Prince Harry: Friends say Cressida is ‘the one’

Prince Harry and on again - off again love interest Cressida

Prince Harry and his current love interest, Cressida Bonas.

They’ve been dating for just over a year and Prince Harry and Cressida Bonas are already talking about marriage.

Friends say the party prince, 28, is convinced the blonde dancer, 24, is “the one” and isn’t afraid to let anyone see how “head over heels” in love with her he is.

“They are definitely more in love than ever,” an insider told E! News. “I would not be surprised if she’s the one he marries.

“They are very affectionate with one another when they are with their friends. They kiss and cuddle and just seem head over heels for one another. They both have the same sense of fun and adventure. They’re on the same wavelength. They are so compatible.”

Harry’s cousin Princess Eugenie introduced him to Cressida, a close friend of hers, in May 2012. They hit it off and started dating in July.

Since then they’ve been spotted kissing on the ski slopes in Verbier, partying at Glastonbury and attending society weddings.

Cressida is from an aristocratic family too. Her mother is 1960s IT girl Lady Mary-Gaye Georgiana Lorna Curzon and her half-sister Isabella Anstruther-Gough-Calthorpe married Harry’s friend Sam Branson in March.

“Cressida is really smart, very naturally pretty and just a really cool girl to hang out with,” the source said. “It’s hard for Harry to date as there are so many opportunities out there, but Cressida is someone he knows he can trust as she is already in his circle.”

Prince Charles is “hopeful” royal baby will be born soon

It seems Prince Charles is eagerly awaiting news of the royal baby’s birth, just like the rest of the world!

Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William are expecting their first child any day now and it seems the royal family are excitedly waiting for news.

Prince Charles has spoken out about the arrival saying he is “hopeful” his first grandchild will be born soon.

His wife Camilla, the duchess of Cornwall however was more forth coming saying that the birth will happen sooner rather than later.

“We are all just waiting by the telephone,” she said during a visit to Little Harbour children’s hospice at Porthpean.

“We are hopeful that by the end of the week he or she will be here.”

The pair joked with waiting crowds of people during their annual summer tour of the southwest English county and neighbouring Devon.

While William and Catherine’s private office at Kensington Palace has refused to confirm her due date, Catherine did let slip earlier this year that she was due mid-July.

The world’s media have been camped outside the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital for a fortnight awaiting the arrival.

Dear Kate: What you need to know about being a mum

What did you do to bring on labour?

Mum-to-be Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, in London last month.

No matter how much you read and how many classes you attend, nothing can prepare you for the birth of your first child. Zoe Arnold offers some wise words for the world’s most famous mother-to-be Kate.

Dearest Duchess,

It’s probably not decorous for one of your subjects to be offering advice, but I thought I’d write a few lines to you as you wait for your little Royal Sproglet to arrive.

Some tips, from one Mum to another:

1. Puuuuuuush!

There’s no sugar coating it … labour is just that: hard, hard work. How to survive it? Do whatever you want. If you want to go drug-free, good for you. If you want every painkiller in the Commonwealth, I’m sure they’ll be available. Don’t worry about being patient with Wills, it’s highly likely he won’t be able to say the right thing, and you need to focus on you and the heir.

2. Be ugly.

You always look so immaculate, like a perfectly polished English rose. Aside from your obligatory photo in front of oh, a million cameras from around the world … go home, slip on your trackies and just stop caring. We all know you’ll look fab in no time at all: take this time for the baby, and forget about keeping up appearances.

3. Breast is best …

… but bloody hard work! If you’re going down this path, be prepared for it to be a challenge. For many Mums, getting their baby to suckle is like taming a beast: I’m talking cracked and leaky nipples, enormous boobs, and random milk flow. It can take a couple of months for your supply to be regular — so be patient, and make sure Wills, Pippa and your Ma are supporting your choice.

4. Waaaaah!

Get someone to show you how to swaddle the Royal Infant correctly. It’s a must. And be prepared to let HRH scream. The order of events should be something like this: boob, burp, bed. Sounds simple? It will be one day …

5. Have a cry.

Like the billions of women who have birthed before you, your hormones are going to be totally freaking crazy. Simple gestures, like the delivery of flowers to your door, will set you off. It’s okay, and the emotions will stop being so overwhelming. And if they don’t, make sure you talk to someone about it.

6. Relevance deprivation.

We love you Kate. Your hair, your smile, your perfect wardrobe … you have a million best friends-in-waiting the world over. But, you’re about to become #2. Be prepared to feel a little less important. You’re pushing out the third in line to the throne, and soon everyone is only going to ask you about the baby. It’s nice that people care … but sometimes you’ll want to remind people that you’re a person beyond the young Prince/ss.

7. Soak it in.

In 2009, I was exactly as you are now: overdue and eagerly awaiting the birth of my first child. My little Princess is turning 4 this weekend. Incidentally, she’d be tickled pink to share her birthday with your wee bairn, and meantime I am stunned that she is graduating from toddler-hood and becoming a proper little girl. Time flies, no doubt especially when you’re running the monarchy. Soak it in, Duchess, and enjoy the ride! Regards,

Your Loyal Subject etc.

Zoe Arnold.

Princess Charlene breaks her silence: I was not a runaway bride

Princess Charlene breaks her silence: I was not a runaway bride

Princess Charlene

Princess Charlene has broken her silence on rumours she tried to run away in the lead-up to her 2011 wedding, branding the gossip “categorical lies”.

In a rare interview, the 35-year-old former Olympic swimmer finally spoke out about reports she was caught trying to flee Monaco and her soon-to-be husband Prince Albert several times in the days before her lavish nuptials.

She told the UK’s Times Weekend magazine there was absolutely no truth to the “runaway bride” rumours, and insisted her tears during her wedding ceremony were those of joy, not sorrow.

“Everything was just so overwhelming and there were all the mixed emotions because of the rumours, and obviously the tension built up and I burst into tears [immediately after the ceremony,” Charlene said.

“And then I burst into tears some more because I was thinking ‘Oh no, now the whole world has seen me cry’.”

Far from regretting her multi-day wedding extravaganza, Charlene said it was the best day of her life, and an event she often thinks back on with “wonder”.

“It was such a wonderful three days,” she said. “Even months afterwards I would get flashbacks and think, ‘Oh my goodness, did I really have the Eagles playing at my wedding?’

“I think back and wonder how we managed to pull it off. There was a lot going on. It was beautiful; it was sentimental, showing my most intimate moment to the world.”

Albert and Charlene’s nuptials were one of three high-profile royal weddings in 2011. The other two couples — Prince William and Kate and Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall — are now expecting their first children.

Albert and Charlene are yet to announce a pregnancy and she says they are in no rush to start a family of their own.

“Look, I’m not going to put myself under any pressure,” she said. “I just got married. I’m just settling into this enormous place and getting used to having huge responsibilities.

“You know, we travel a lot, so it’s going to take time. But as I said, I’m not going to put myself under any pressure. It will happen; it will happen.”

Charlene is currently holidaying in Portofino, Italy, with friends while Albert remains in Monaco.

Pregnancy doesn’t stop royal Zara from saddling up

Images of three-months-pregnant Zara competing at the Brightling Park International Horse Trials in the UK over the weekend have roused worldwide concern.

As we await the arrival of William and Kate’s first-born, Zara Phillips and her rugby union-playing husband Mike Tindall last week confirmed that they too are expecting their first baby.

Not only does the UK’s National Health Service advise mothers-to-be to avoid horse-riding, Zara, 32, fell off her horse only weeks ago. And in 2008, the Queen’s granddaughter and Olympic silver medallist suffered another fall, breaking her collarbone in an accident that killed her horse.

Despite this and doctors’ advice against equestrian sports during pregnancy, Zara’s spokeswoman confirmed the royal will still ride.

“Zara is following all medical advice from her doctors. She is being sensible about this and listening to what the doctors are telling her,” the spokeswoman said.

“She couldn’t be happier about this baby and would never put her pregnancy in jeopardy.”

Horse-riding is a strong family tradition in Zara’s family with her mother, Princess Anne, riding up until six weeks before Zara’s birth.
