Nicole Kidman

With that fire-red mane of hair, Nicole burst into film fame in BMX Bandits(1983). Here, she poses for the debut of the film in front of the Harbour Bridge in Sydney where she grew up.

Nicole won over Hollywood hunk Tom Cruise hook, line and sinker while starring as his doctor/love interest in the racetrack romance Days of Thunder (1990). They married the same year after a whirlwind courtship – their 10 year marriage was one of the longer-lasting in Hollywood.

They may look happy in love, but after 10 years and two adopted children, Nicole and Tom decided to call it a day. While their marriage seemed rock-solid, the sudden split was a shock to everyone. Later, it was discovered that two failed pregnancies and Tom’s devotion to Scientology led to the couple’s demise.

Nicole received much acclaim for her role as the sultry courtesan Satine in the 2001 film, Moulin Rouge. She received her first Academy Award nomination for Baz Lurhmann’s stylish and quirky musical.

Nicole was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actress for her role in this 2001 film. While this thriller did not bring her golden glory, her chance was soon to come.

Kylie was launched into the media spotlight in the late 1980s through her role on popular soap opera Neighbours as the fresh-faced, girl-next-door, Charlene.

Pictured with Neighbours co-star Jason Donovan, the couple spurred huge media interest over their on and off-screen love affair, which continued well into the ’90s.

Light Years (2000) was influenced by 1970s disco and lent itself to the type of music that Kylie does best. It generated rave reviews with hit singles such as Spinning Around and Fever, and contributed to one of the biggest career come-backs the music industry has ever seen.

Dashing Frenchman, Oliver Martinez was a rock for Kylie when she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005, barely leaving the singer’s side throughout her battle with the disease. However, the pair separated in 2007.

Kylie gave a very candid interview about her cancer ordeal in London in 2007 with British TV presenter and good friend, Cat Deeley. She later appeared on The Ellen Degeneres Show in the United States and spoke on the common problem of cancer misdiagnosis.

Showgirl – The Homecoming Tour was the comeback tour for the brave and devoted Kylie Minogue following her cancellation of the Australian and Asian legs of the original tour. She’d been forced to cancel as a result of her illness.
