Commercial surrogacy is illegal for those living in Queensland. But that wasn’t going to stop hopeful parents Kylie and Cameron Young from getting the family they desperately wanted.

“I’m not bothered by the law,” says Kylie, 39, defiantly. “I’m not worried that we broke it.”

Kylie and husband Cameron, also 39, tried for 11 years before finally being blessed with adorable twins Stella and Luke via an egg donor and a Thai surrogate on June 7.

To say they’re thrilled is an understatement. “Surrogacy was our last resort,” admits Cameron. “We were on adoption waiting lists in China but that could have taken another three or four years.”

The couple began trying to fall pregnant as soon as they married and attempted eight IVF cycles before Kylie had a complete hysterectomy at just 32 years old because of severe endometriosis.

Michael Douglas has revealed he lied about his cancer diagnosis because he was worried it would damage the publicity for his latest film.

The 69-year-old actor told the world he had throat cancer when he actually had tongue cancer.

He said his surgeon told him to mislead the press and his fans to hide the fact the he might have to have his tongue and part of his jaw removed, effectively ending his acting career.

“This was right before I had to go on a big tour for Wall Street so we kinda said there’s no way we can cancel the tour and say we don’t feel well,” Douglas said.

“You gotta tell them, so you know, I said you just gotta come out and just tell them I’ve got cancer and that’s that.

“But, the surgeon said let’s just say it’s throat cancer. I said ‘okay, you don’t want to say it’s tongue cancer, why’s that?’ and he said ‘well, if you really wanna know why, if we do have to have surgery it’s not gonna be pretty.

“You’ll lose part of your jaw and your tongue and all of that stuff. So I said, ‘okay sure’.”

Douglas made the surprising admission while speaking to fellow actor Samuel L Jackson during a Male Cancer Awareness Week special on UK daytime TV show This Morning.

He also spoke of the day in August 2010 when a specialist in Montreal diagnosed him with stage-four cancer.

“I will never forget it the look on his face when he pushed my tongue down,” Douglas said. “It kind of all rushes over you, you get a little numb, very numb.”

“I said ‘Stage four?’… And that’s where I got a little scared.”

Douglas said his children, Dylan, 13, and Carys, 10, were very supportive during his treatment and weren’t too worried or scared.

“The kids were great,” he said. “They saw me have the radiation. I found the more they knew the better it was, what scares you is not knowing.”

Douglas said he now has a “95 per cent chance” his cancer won’t return and urged other men to be vigilant with their own health to avoid going through what he had been through.

“Guys, you look at your body every day, you know every mole and everything that’s there,” he said.

“If you see something that looks a little strange or you feel a bump somewhere, check it out. Please. I made that mistake and I don’t want to see you do it.”

The Academy Award winner had to be in top shape for the film in which she plays a bio-medical scientist on her first mission into space alongside co-star George Clooney.

Gravity has broken box office records already raking in more than $58 million since its US release last week.

The Queen is to receive a record pay rise of 22 per cent over the next two years, boosting her annual income to $64 million.

The pay rise comes as the monarch has apparently fallen on hard times, down to her “last million”, according to a report.

The Queen’s income is linked to profits from the Crown Estate, a wealthy portfolio of farming land, building and property, ranging from Ascot racecourse to London’s Regent Street.

The Crown Estate is owned by the reigning monarch, but all profits have gone straight in the government’s coffers since the early 1800s.

The National Audit Office, which for the first time has been allowed to examine all aspects of the Queen’s funding as Head of State, found the royal family’s funding had undergone “significant reductions” in the past twenty years.

The report revealed slashing grants for royal travel by 76 per cent and maintenance budgets for palaces including Buckingham Palace and Windsor castle cut by 60 per cent, has forced Her Majesty to dip in to her savings leaving only £1 million — approximately $1.69 million — in the Royal Household’s reserves, the Daily Mail reports.

The NAO, an independent body which scrutinises public spending, says the palace’s need to draw on reserves is of serious concern.

“As part of its long-term planning the Household may need to consider whether the Reserve is adequate to meet unexpected costs,” the report said.

The report also showed the monarch’s 436 staff cost her $32 million a year, but anyone earning more than $35,000 had their pay frozen since 2011 as part of the household cost cutting measures.

Royal Household jobs are famously low-paid, but still extremely coveted by British job seekers.

Earlier this year an advertisement for palace maid angered some, paying just over minimum wage and less than a third of what housekeepers in other government branches earn.

The royal family were also found to have spent more than $7.6 million on travel in the past year, which is a 30 per cent real term reduction in travel costs over the past decade, after royals were instructed to opt for scheduled flights over private jets.

Do online weight loss programs really work?

Online weight loss programs are popular and often expensive. Are they worth it?

Online subscription-based weight loss programs promising body transformations in a matter of weeks have been slammed as money-making scams.

Web-based weight loss regimens were put to the test by Choice magazine, which decided many of the most popular programs were a rip off.

The advising nutritionist on one diet-based program was found not to be a registered dietician, while another was said to completely go against the principles of healthy eating.

Promising its followers a “kickin’ beach body in just 12 weeks!”, the Ashy Bines Bikini Body Challenge — whose before and after photos you might recognise from your facebook feed — was declared a “money-making scam” by the consumer watchdog, and fell into the “fad diet” category.

Another online program SureSlim, costing $497 for six weeks was found to go “against the fundamental principles of eating a healthy, balanced diet”, and slammed as a “crash diet”.

The report tested five weight loss programs and found Michelle Bridges 12 Week Body Transformation, which includes detailed eating plans, shopping lists, and an exercise regime, to be one of the best.

Weight Watchers was also credited for its flexibility in terms of lifestyle and following sensible eating guidelines.

Jude Law’s lookalike son has landed a major modelling campaign at the age of 16.

Rafferty, Jude’s son with his ex-wife Sadie Frost, is the new face of men’s tailoring label Tiger of Sweden.

His first ad for the brand is a short film entitledA Different Cut, in which he models a selection of shirts, suit, rings and earrings.

Six other “London creatives” star in the film, which introduces Rafferty as “the rebel”.

“To be above the cut, you’ve got to think a little different,” he says in the clip.

It’s not Rafferty’s first foray into the world of fashion — he was shot alongside Pixie Geldof for the June 2012 issue of BritishVogue.

Jude and Sadie married in 1997 and had three children, Rafferty, Iris, 13, and Rudy, 11. They divorced in October 2003.

Jude has subsequently had another daughter, Sophia, after a short fling with US model Samantha Burke in 2008.

The curvaceous comedienne loves her fuller figure and is convinced it’s the reason she has had so much success in the notoriously competitive US market.

“I think most girls who are encouraged to come to LA and become actresses are usually the prettiest girls in their hometown of Iowa or wherever,” Rebel told In Touch magazine.

“One of the reasons my agents signed me is because I’m not like any other girl here. It has made things easier for me, because I’m distinctive.”

Now that she’s found fame, Rebel is determined to use her celebrity to boost the body image of girls who are used to being told they aren’t thin or pretty enough.

She has vowed she will never slim down because someone needs to be in the spotlight showing the world what real women look like.

“I want to inspire girls who don’t think they’re cool or pretty,” she said. “To do that, I need to put out a realistic version of what it’s like to be a girl who looks like me.

“Sometimes that means getting broken up with by a dude who says, ‘You’re too fat.’ That way, when my character wins, it’s gratifying.”

The post originally fetched a number of comments, both positive and negative, about the hot new pair, who have reportedly had their eye on each other for more than a year after meeting at the 2012 Brownlow Medal awards.

Although there were rumours of a romance at the time, the pair chose to keep their relationship out of the public eye.

Buddy, who recently signed a nine-year $10 million deal with the Swans after leaving premiership team Hawthorn, was said to be swayed by Jesinta to make the move to Sydney.
