Video shows amazing Photoshop transformation

An amazing Photoshop transformation.

A still from the shocking video posted online.

The clip, posted on GlobalDemocracy.com, shows a blonde model arriving at a photo shoot bare-faced and with un-styled hair.

The studio’s lighting is then switched on, making the model look slimmer, before a hair and makeup artist works her magic, adding lashings of cosmetics and a hairpiece, dramatically altering the model’s appearance.

The photo is then taken but the transformation is far from complete.

In the retouching suite, the model’s eyes are made bigger, her nose smaller and her lips fuller.

The airbrush then attacks her body, drastically slimming her stomach, arms, bottom and thighs and lengthening her legs and neck.

Her skin-tone is then evened out to make it appear flawless, resulting in an image that bares almost no resemblance to the real life model who posed for it.

The video quickly went viral, being shared hundreds of thousands of times by users around the world.

Many users commented that the clip perfectly highlights how Photoshop is setting unrealistic beauty standards no real woman could ever live up to.

“Without all the fakery, most “gorgeous stars” are no different to the girls in your local pub,” one wrote.

While another added: “Why even have a model in the first place if you are just going to transform her into something else? Just create one on the computer.”

Prince Charles admits to starting smoking at age 11

Prince Charles

Prince Charles

The once-mischievous heir to the throne told a respiratory nurse he had indulged in the habit as a youngster, but “a few cigarettes behind a chicken coop” were enough to lead him to quit.

At an event celebrating the work of nurses held at Clarence House, the Prince of Wales asked a group of respiratory nurse whether they worked with a lot of smokers.

“I gave up at 11 when I had a few cigarettes behind a chicken coop,” he jokingly told one nurse, who believed his remarks to be tongue-in-cheek.

It’s not the first time the Prince has made light of his early habit, sharing the same story with a group of school children in 1999.

“The good thing is to give them up when you are young,” he told the group of Slovenian pupils who erupted in laughter.

Charles’s son Prince Harry appears not to have taken his father’s advice — the rebellious Prince has long been a casual smoker. The Duchess of Cornwall, Charles’s wife, was once a heavy smoker but it said to have given up years ago.

Prince Charles, who is patron of more than 30 healthcare organisations, made his remarks at the Nursing Times Awards, recognising the pivotal role nurses play in healthcare.

“In general, quite apart from the medical expertise that nursing staff provide on a daily and nightly basis, the reassurance and simple human kindness that they can also dispense is, I believe, vital and must surely impact positively on the recovery of individuals,” he wrote in Nursing Times magazine leading up to the awards.

“Human kindness, reassurance and sympathy are age-old qualities, yet they are as important today as they have ever been.”

Princess Mary on her royal visit to Sydney

Earlier this year she was voted the world’s most stylish royal and with a little help from a mixture of Australian and Danish designers, Crown Princess Mary didn’t let her style status slip on her homecoming trip to Sydney.

Always polished and sophisticated, the Australian native wore a palette of neutral colours with some torquise, blue and metallic thrown in — a combination that was both reflective of the nation’s landscape, and complimentary to Mary’s delicate skin tone.

Local name Colette Dinnigan scored a couple of spots in Mary’s suitcase alongside international labels like Valentino.

Nicole opens up on “intoxicating” romance with Tom

Nicole Kidman opens up on “intoxicating” relationship with Tom Cruise

In recent years, Nicole Kidman has had no trouble opening up the ex-files and she’s at it again.

The actress has once again discussed her failed marriage to Tom Cruise, saying, in the December issue of Vanity Fair, that it was an “intoxicating” relationship in the public eye and a very romantic time of her life.

Nicole, who said she was “so young” when she married Tom, compared their relationship to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s romance.

“There’s something about that sort of existence. That is you really focus on each other and you’re in that bubble, it’s very intoxicating because it’s just the two of you,” she said.

“And there’s only one other person that’s going through it. So it brings you very close and it’s deeply romantic. I’m sure Brad and Angelina have that – because there’s nobody else that understands it except that person who’s sleeping right next to you.”

But her current husband Keith Urban has nothing to worry about. Nicole goes on to say he’s her “great love”. And you know, with no disrespect to what I had with Tom, I’ve met my great love now,” she said.

“And I really did not know if that was going to happen. I wanted it, but I didn’t want it for a while, because I didn’t want to jump from one relationship to another. I had a lot of time alone, which was really, really good, because I was a child, really, when I got married. And I needed to grow up.”

Meanwhile, Keith has opened up to Ellen Degeneres about how the pair deal with being apart for long periods of time – by sexting each other!

“Maybe one cool, kind of… you know… a year, one of those kinds of texts,” he said coyly on her TV show when asked about how they stay in touch.

“What kind of text? What do you mean?” Ellen asked. “Nice sex texting,” Keith admitted. “I’m a little red right now.”

Will and Jada living apart

Will and Jada living apart

Will and Jada together in New York in April this year.

Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith have always had an unconventional relationship, but are the long-time couple really over this time?

Prompting rumours of marriage trouble and a trial separation, the pair have not seen each other in more than two months, and Jada has reportedly moved into her brother Caleeb Pinkett‘s home.

“Will and I can both do whatever we want because we trust each other to do so,” Jada said recently of their relationship.

“This does not mean we have an open relationship. It means we have a grown one.”

Will is currently filming Focus in New Orleans and has been there since mid-September. He plans to be there for another month Radar Online reported.

Meanwhile, Jada visited Paris earlier this month with her daughter Willow and her mother, Adrienne Banfield Jones.

She recently spoke at a charity event in Baltimore, giving the crowd some insight into her relationship.

“When you are going through a storm with your spouse… stop thinking about what you ‘believe’ a husband or wife should be,” she told the audience.

“I thought success would make me happy… It does not.”

The pair, who have been married for 15 years, have faced split rumours before.

In 2011 their relationship was said to be on rocky ground due to Jada’s close friendship with her co-star Marc Anthony, who dismissed the rumours as “laughable”.

Earlier this year Jada addressed the ongoing split speculation, telling Gala magazine: “These rumors are completely untrue. I travel a lot because of my work, just like Will does.

“But our lifestyle hasn’t changed. Before we had the kids, we were already far away from each other quite often because of separate projects.”

When contacted for comment on the couple’s marital issues, Will’s mother, Carolyn Smith, told Radar Online, “Isn’t that personal? Thank you for your concern.”

University tells women the key to getting a good job is tight clothing

How to ace that job interview

The offending image that was emailed out to Californian university students.

The Career Centre at the University of California Irvine sparked controversy on Monday when it sent out an email entitled “How to Ace That Job Interview”.

While the words contained in the message body were inoffensive, one of the pictures used left many female students outraged.

The image showed an Asian woman “before” and “after” an apparent job interview makeover.

The “after” image advises job-seeking women to don a full face of makeup, a “feminine top”, a tailored skirt and “leg-lengthening” heels to give themselves the best chance of getting a job.

Trousers, flat shoes, a bare face and a “boxy button-up” shirt are all frowned upon and presented as the quickest way to ensure you don’t succeed.

Countless appalled students forwarded the email to feminist blog Jezebel, who quickly discovered the university had stolen the image from a Boston blogger named Jean.

Jean had created the image two years ago for her blog Extra Petite – which gives fashion advice to short women working in corporate environments – after a reader wrote in to ask for tips on how to gain confidence and feel “less like a kid” in the office.

Jean was horrified her image has been misappropriated by the university and felt her message was completely lost in the email.

She says she was not trying to say pants and flat shoes should be banned, but rather that all clothes should fit properly.

“To illustrate my point, I used the only two pieces I could scrounge up at home that did not fit, which happened to be an old button up blouse and pants,” she told Jezebel.

“I used flats to emphasise my point about fit because too-long pants dragging on the floor is not professional. It very well could’ve been an ill-fitting dress, skirt, etc., but the principal of looking neat and tidy remains the same.”

“It’s harder for that to come through when the image is taken out of context, as my post explains that what fits well and what generates confidence is not the same for different individual and different body types.”

Robyn Lawley: Why I hate the dangerous ‘thigh gap’ trend

Robyn Lawley: Why I hate the dangerous 'thigh gap' trend

Plus size model Robyn Lawley has addressed the disturbing "thigh gap" trend.

Robyn Lawley has weighed in on young women’s desire for a “thigh gap” – a disturbing social media trend encouraging users to be unhealthily thin.

The 24-year-old Australian model expressed her disgust writing about the proliferation of the trend, which encourages women to pursue a “thigh gap”, defined as the space between one’s thighs.

“Everywhere online, users are posting aspirational pictures, used as inspiration for weight loss and dieting,” she writes on the Daily Beast, going on to quote shocking messages from Pinterest users who have succumbed to the trend.

“I want the thigh gap. Right now, I could start a fire between my thighs,” she quotes one girl as saying.

“No goal was ever achieved without a thigh gap.”

Lawley, who has become a role model for young women spreading her positive body image message, says that while the trend is new to social media, in the modelling industry she has been inundated by images of the “thigh gap” since the age of 12.

“Staring down at my own thighs, I can safely say that has never been the case for me,” the size 16 model writes.

Lawley describes how surprised and appalled she was to find herself on a pro-thigh gap Facebook page recently when an image of herself bending forward, so a space could be seen between her legs, was posted as inspiration for young women wanting to be thin.

She found the experience “degrading and humiliating”, and has described the online trend as just another “tool of manipulation” to keep women from loving their body.

“I want the opposite: I want my thighs to be bigger and stronger. I want to run faster and swim longer,” she says.

“I suppose we all just want different things, but women have enough pressure as it is without the added burden of achieving a ‘thigh gap’.”

Nigella Lawson dismisses new “truth” claims

Nigella Lawson dismisses new “truth” claims

Nigella Lawson leaving her sisters flat in London and the photos published in People on Sunday.

Domestic goddess Nigella Lawson is refusing to cooperate with Vanity Fair as they delve into the “real” reasons for her split from husband Charles Saatchi.

The magazine is set to reveal “the truth” behind the 53-year-old celebrity chef’s divorce from the 70-year-old art dealer in the wake of photographs that showed him with his hands around her throat at a London restaurant back in June.

Vanity Fair reporter Kevin Goldman has flown to London to interview the former couple’s friends and associates, but Nigella has said she will not take part in the article.

“No stone has been unturned, Vanity Fair wanted to get to the bottom of such an abrupt breakup and why the end of the marriage was agreed so quickly,” a source told the UK’s Daily Mail newspaper.

“Kevin has spoken to a lot of associates of both Nigella and Charles.”

Meanwhile, Saatchi is threatening to sue his ex-wife for $800,000 in a court case to “reveal the truth” about the break-up.

While Saatchi accepted a caution from police at the time of the incident, his friends say he’s presently unable to explain the real story behind the pictures due to legal reasons.

But he has now warned Nigella’s lawyers that he’ll sue her to clear his name unless she voluntarily comes clean.

“Charles has been painted as the villain in all this – millions of people are convinced he was assaulting Nigella,” a source close to Saatchi says.

“But there are very genuine reasons for why he was holding on to her. She has never given a public account of what was happening.”

While Nigella has maintained her silence about the split, a source close to her says Saatchi’s allegations are untrue.

“The seriously defamatory claims are, of course, denied,” the source said.

Nigella is the second public figure of late to refuse to work with Vanity Fair.

Oscar-winner Gwyneth Paltrow has also refused to work with the publication, which is now about to publish tell-all article about the actress.
