William: ‘I want a PlayStation but Kate won’t let me’

Prince William

Prince William

Like many henpecked husbands, William has joked he lives in fear of his wife, avoiding buying things he wants – like the new PlayStation 4 – if he thinks Kate won’t approve.

William trialled the pricey new games console during a visit to the British Academy of Film and Television Arts in Piccadilly, London, and admitted he was keen to purchase one for Kensington Palace but wouldn’t risk upsetting his wife.

“I’d like to get one but I’m not sure how my wife would feel about it,” William said, before confessing to being an “enthusiastic but quite useless” gamer.

Kate would no doubt be keen to ensure William’s spare time was spent with new son Prince George, and not playing video games.

A massive cyst nearly killed my baby

Baby Yuta. Photography by Jimmy Pozarik.

Baby Yuta. Photography by Jimmy Pozarik.

“Yuta was breech (in a bottom-first, not head-first position),” Kyoko says. “The doctors tried to turn him around so I didn’t need a caesarean, and discovered the growth.”

Kyoko couldn’t believe the diagnosis, “I was like … whaaat? My son has what?! The ultrasound looked perfect, and I couldn’t believe he could be sick.”

To avoid a complicated natural delivery, Kyoko underwent a caesarean section and baby Yuta was delivered on Christmas Eve, 2011.

“I was allowed to give him a kiss, and pose for a photo, before he was whisked away by the doctors and nurses,” she says. “It felt surreal, as it was very different from the birth of my first baby two years earlier.”

On Christmas Day, while most of us were busy unwrapping presents and over-eating, little Yuta underwent complex surgery to remove the huge growth.

“I found out many months later that Yuta’s cyst was the biggest the doctors had seen in a decade: it was the size of a grapefruit,” Kyoko says.

“He had 14 centimetres of his intestine removed, and a hole in his stomach repaired where the cyst had been.”

The surgery was a success, but there would be a slow road of repair and rehabilitation ahead for Kyoko’s newborn baby.

Yuta spent the next three months in The Sydney Children’s Hospital, where his parents and sister, Emi, dutifully visited every day.

“Looking at my son, all covered in tubes, I felt devastated that there was nothing I could provide for him,” Kyoko says. “All I wanted to do was to help him get better.”

“The only thing I could do was express my breast milk for him – so several times a day, every day I would pump it for him, just to make myself feel like a mother.”

When admired for her persistence, Kyoko smiles, proudly explaining, “I finally got to nurse him myself when he was four months old, and he fed until he was one-and-a-half.”

It was a long hospital stay for baby Yuta and his family, but Kyoko says she was extremely well supported by the staff and the other families being treated at The Sydney Children’s Hospital.

“It was like having another family, to be honest. I obviously enjoyed seeing my son everyday – and marking his progress – but I was always keen to see the other children and their parents, too.”

For Kyoko and her husband this support was vital, as their extended family live in their native country Japan.

“I never worried about my parents being far away until my son got sick,” Kyoko says. “Suddenly I realised how important it is to have family nearby.”

“The hospital became our second home, we felt nurtured, and I felt safe leaving my son with them.”

After a myriad of blood tests, scans and check-ups with paediatricians and other specialists, baby Yuta finally went home in March 2012.

“We felt so blessed and so thankful to finally take him home,” Kyoko says. “I was worried about losing the support of the hospital, but they have continued to be there for us.”

Two and a half years on, and Yuta is your typical toddler.

“He is very determined, and his favourite word is ‘no’,” Kyoko says. “You wouldn’t know that he had been through anything, he has enormous energy and is always running us off our feet.

“We just feel lucky he was diagnosed so quickly, and looked after so well.”

Taylor Swift talks ex-boyfriends

Taylor Swift talks ex-boyfriends

Sassy American country star Taylor Swift is known for dishing the dirt on her past relationships through her lyrics.

Now, she has revealed the criteria for getting a mention in one of her famous songs, and how her ex-boyfriends have reacted to playing muse.

Taylor, 22, has been linked to a host of young, handsome Hollywood men, includingTwilighthottie Taylor Lautner,High School Musical’sZac Efron, sexy bad boy John Mayer, and most recentlyOne Directionheartthrob Harry Styles.

But let it be known, Taylor has a two date rule. If you’ve been on two or fewer dates with the pop princess then you don’t warrant a mention in one of her songs.

“I only write songs about crazy love,” Taylor toldVulture.com.

“If I go on two dates with a guy and we don’t click, I’m not writing a song about that. It didn’t matter in the emotional grand scheme of things. There’s a lot that goes on in daily life that isn’t really worth turning into a verse and a chorus.”

The leggy songstress isn’t shy about opening up through her music, and despite copping continued criticism for oversharing, she has remained true to herself and her storytelling schtick. Every album including her last, Red, is packed with stories about her exes.

“I heard from the guy that most ofRedis about,” she said.

“He was like, ‘I just listened to the album, and that was a really bittersweet experience for me. It was like going through a photo album.’ That was nice. Nicer than, like, the ranting, crazy emails I got from this one dude.

“It’s a lot more mature way of looking at a love that was wonderful until it was terrible, and both people got hurt from it – but one of those people happened to be a songwriter. So what are you going to do? Did you not Wikipedia me before you called me up?”

While she is unapologetic for now, will this emotional young talent still be writing about her ex-lovers when she is in her 40s?

“When I’m 40 and nobody wants to see me in a sparkly dress anymore, I’ll be like, cool, I’ll just go in the studio and write songs for kids. It’s looking like a good pension plan.”

She may be one of the world’s leading plus-size models but you won’t see a piece especially designed for curvier women in Robyn Lawley’s latest campaign as the face of French lingerie brand Chantelle Paris.

The 24-year-old Aussie model, who has rejected the “plus-size” label being applied to her size 16 body, proves you don’t have to be a certain size to look sexy in lacy lingerie.

The designers have described the collection as “giving women a unique style and femininity, a very Parisian confidence, whatever their bust size”.

Lawley is an advocate for positive body image and is no stranger to baring her body, having previously modelled for lingerie brands and her own swimwear label.

Taylor Swift’s catwalk catfight

Taylor Swift's catwalk catfight

Just moments after making her Victoria’s Secret catwalk debut, singer Taylor Swift copped a dissing from fellow Victoria’s Secret darling, Aussie model Jessica Hart.

The 23-year-old singer hadn’t even had time to kick off her heels before Jess declared she “didn’t fit” with the show.

“I think, you know what, God bless her heart. I think she’s great. But, I don’t know, to me, she didn’t fit. I don’t know if I should say that,” Jess toldWomen’s Wear Daily.

And despite her ‘reservations’ about saying what she did, when asked if Taylor could pull off being a Victoria’s Secret model, 27-year-old Jessica replied flatly, “No.”

“I think what you find is that for a lot of us, we’ve been working for 14, 15 years – what it takes to make it here comes from experience and confidence and knowing how to be confident with yourself. I think that comes with age. It’s definitely the benchmark of all jobs.”

The famously leggy Miss Swift showcased her signature pins twice in Wednesday’s top American fashion event, wearing a teeny-tiny Union Jack mini dress and a sparkly silver number.

The country pop sensation sang her hitI Knew You Were Trouble, which though said to be written about her One Direction ex Harry Styles, could have been directed at her modelling rival Jessica.

But the show did nothing to dampen Taylor’s reputation, with numerous celebrity tweets flowing in to applaud the star for her runway prowess.

“@taylorswift13 @lilyaldridge @VictoriaSecret Taylor I am now convinced you are secretly a Vicki’s secret model. Look at you!” tweeted Paramore singer Hayley Williams.

The tweet-fest also included one from Victoria’s Secret model Lily Aldridge, who shared the catwalk with Taylor that night.

“Runway love fest with @taylorswift13 #vsfashionshow,” Lily tweeted.

For what it’s worth Taylor, we thought you looked every part the supermodel.
