Brynne Edelsten divorces Geoffrey Edelsten

Brynne Edelsten has ended her four-year marriage to flamboyant disgraced doctor Geoffrey Edelsten.

Brynne – who is 40 years younger than her 70-year-old husband – told friends she was unable to forgive Geoffrey for an alleged infidelity that happened 18 months ago, Fairfax Media reports.

The brash blonde’s publicist John Scott confirmed the couple split six weeks ago and were still negotiating a financial settlement.

Months of marriage counselling reportedly failed to save the relationship. Geoffrey is in the US, where he has filed for bankruptcy, while Brynne remains in the couple’s lavish Melbourne penthouse.

She is not planning to return to her native America, where she was working as a cocktail waitress when she met Geoffrey.

“She has built a life here and she doesn’t really want to go back,” Scott says.

Brynne and Geoffrey’s marriage hit trouble in March 2012, when he flew a woman he met on an online dating site to Miami for a lavish three-day getaway.

The woman claimed he showered her with gifts during the weekend away, including a Louis Vuitton handbag, a Michael Kors watch and expensive hotel spa treatments.

Nigella Lawson ‘didn’t cheat on dying husband’

Nigella Lawson's friends have denied Charles Saatchi's explosive claims she cheated on her dying husband with him.
Nigella Lawson and John Diamond.

In his latest attack on his ex-wife, Saatchi released a statement on Friday claiming Nigella started a sexual relationship with him months before her first husband – one of Saatchi’s closest friends – died of cancer.

“Nigella and I began our relationship during the last six months of her husband John Diamond’s life, rather than after his death as she stated in court,” Saatchi said.

“Looking back at that time, I very deeply regret that this betrayal of John occurred.”

But Nigella’s friends have leapt to her defence, insisting there was no “betrayal” because John gave Nigella and Saatchi his blessing.

“When he knew he didn’t have long left, he gave his approval to Saatchi,” a friend told the Sunday People.

“He was very keen on his young children having a father figure so actively encourage Nigella to date Saatchi.”

Nigella’s team insist the relationship did not become sexual until after John died in 2001. Her supporters insist any suggestion Nigella “betrayed” John are nothing but “a wicked attempt to smear her”.

“Saatchi has been doing his worst for months to damage Nigella because he can’t bear it that she walked out on him,” a friend said. “Why can’t he just get on with his life and let her get on with hers.”

John met Saatchi in a Knightsbridge restaurant in 1997. They became fast friends and John soon brought Saatchi home to meet his wife Nigella. Saatchi was a frequent visitor during John’s four-year convalescence, and became close to Nigella as John’s health declined.

Prince William and Kate Middleton looking for new nanny for Australian tour

Prince William and Kate are reportedly discreetly looking for a new nanny to accompany them on their upcoming Australian tour.
Prince William, Kate Middleton, and Prince George

The royal couple are planning to bring Prince George Down Under in April but might have to leave him at home in London if they can’t find suitable childcare arrangements.

The couple’s current nanny Jessie Webb – who looked after William when he was a child – is 71 and couldn’t cope with the rigours of a tour alone.

“It took a lot of persuading to get Jessie to take the job in the first place, but she loves William and wanted to help out,” an insider told the Daily Mail.

“I can’t imagine that she will want to be travelling around the world at her age. If she does, she will need an assistant.”

Jessie came out of retirement to take charge of George when he was born but was only planning to work part-time for three months.

George is now six months old and Jessie is still caring for him, with no end to her contract in sight.

William and Kate will travel to Australia and New Zealand in April. They will bring nannies, their press team, Kate’s personal hairdresser Amanda Cook Tucker, a private secretary and possibly a dresser or lady’s maid.

The trip will be George’s first overseas tour, mirroring his father William’s 1983 trip to Australia when he was the same age.

The truth behind Bec’s shock new look

The truth behind Bec's shock new look

Her dishevelled looks and out-of-character no-show at Lleyton’s final signals bad news.

When Bec Hewitt sat in the stands to watch her husband Lleyton Hewitt work his way towards the final in the Brisbane International, all eyes were – as usual – on her. But this time it was for different reasons.

The usually glam and tanned former soap star looked gaunt and drawn, nervously playing with her phone and fidgeting throughout her husband’s match.

Then when Bec wasn’t in the crowd to see Lleyton beat Roger Federer to take out the final, speculation was rife as to why the 30-year-old blonde was missing – with those in the know on the tennis circuit all speculating the couple must have had an argument for Bec to miss out on such an important event in her famous husband’s career.

Others whispered she might be pregnant with their fourth child and, as such, couldn’t bear another day of blistering summer heat courtside at the Queensland Tennis Centre.

See the exclusive pictures and read more about why bec missed Lleyton’s big match in this week’s issue of Woman’s Day, on sale Monday, January 13, 2014.
