Charlotte Dawson: “My home is completely trashed!”

Charlotte Dawson: “My home is completely trashed!”

A distraught Charlotte Dawson has returned home from Bali to find her Sydney apartment “completely trashed”.

Charlotte, 47, was recharging her batteries during a healing holiday in Indonesia when her glamorous waterside apartment was wrecked during a wild, alcohol-fuelled party thrown by her housesitter.

“I am mortified,” Charlotte reveals in an exclusive interview with Woman’s Day. “I am not insured; I will have to replace all my outdoor furniture. There are holes in my wall, footprints up them, my plants are ruined.”

Before departing Sydney at Christmas, she handed over her house keys to a 21-year-old London-based model, who is also called Charlotte Dawson, the daughter of the late comedian Les Dawson. The sitter slept in Charlotte’s own bedroom.

The new friends were all smiles and hugs when photographed at Woolloomooloo Finger Wharf, the luxury spot where Charlotte rents her apartment.

But the bond, which began when the two celebrities met on Twitter, appears to be all over after Charlotte returned from her holiday yesterday to find her home in tatters.

“It’s a mess,” Charlotte tells her Twitter followers. “My fault – it’s the other Charlotte Dawson from the UK. Met her on twitter & let her housesit while I was away. I let a girl house sit & she threw some kind of massive party.”

Charlotte, who last week quit as a judge on Australia’s Next Top Model, says she has learned a valuable lesson about trust following the incident.

Seventy party-goers, including South Sydney Rabbitohs star George Burgess, hit the apartment on December 31 and danced late into the morning to a DJ. Strangers were being recruited from up and down the wharf to come to the party. There were media reports the following day of police being called.

Charlotte has returned from Bali to clean up the mess.

“My apartment is completely trashed,” she tweeted. “Throwing out rug, towels, linen. Floors irreparable.”

A team of cleaners were hired to fix damage caused to the $2 million apartment, which is being put up for auction next week.

The American Apparel store on Manhattan’s Lower East Side revealed its Valentine’s Day lingerie display overnight, complete with a trio of mannequins with prominent pubic hair.

A spokesman for the youth retailer said the window was created to challenge society’s view that pubic hair is dirty and disgusting.

“American Apparel is a company that celebrates natural beauty and this window display continues that celebration,” spokesman Ryan Holiday told Gothamist.com.

“We created it to invite passers-by to explore the idea of what is ‘sexy’ and reconsider their comfort with the natural female form.

“This is the same idea behind banning Photoshop in our advertisements. So far the window has received positive feedback.”

Your say: What do you think about the display? Is it too much, or should more stores start showing women in their natural state?

Miranda Kerr has scored another global beauty campaign, replacing Heidi Klum as the face of Clean Scalp & Hair.

The Australian supermodel was yesterday unveiled as the hair care brand’s new ambassador, showing off her shiny locks in a range of new advertising images.

“We are excited to have Miranda join the Clear Scalp & Hair brand,” the brand’s senior marketing director Jennifer Healy said. “Miranda is a global beauty and fashion icon and women nationwide want to know the secret behind her amazing hair.”

The former Victoria’s Secret angel seems equally excited about her new role and credits the brand’s treatments for keeping her lush locks in tip-top shape.

“I use them weekly,” she said. “With my work, my hair is continuously being heat-styled, so this is a great way to keep it resilient and healthy.”

Miranda, who will appear in Clear Scalp & Hair’s US advertising campaign later this month, admits that her road to healthy hair has had its fair share of twists and tangles.

“I had a perm once when I was a teenager and had straight bangs,” she revealed to People magazine. “It wasn’t my greatest look, put it that way.”

Sarah Jessica Parker launches ‘comfy’ shoe line

We coveted her shoe collection on Sex and the City, now Sarah Jessica Parker is selling her own "comfortable" range in collaboration with Manolo Blahnik.

Sarah Jessica Parker has made her onscreen shoe obsession a real-life reality, launching her own footwear collection in collaboration with Carrie’s favourite heel designer Manolo Blahnik.

The Sex and the City star has created an affordable high-end shoe collection aptly named SJP.

“[As an actress], I’ve spent so much time in shoes. I really feel like I have an advantage,” she told reporters.

But while Carrie Bradshaw tottered around New York in all manner of ridiculous heels, Parker insists all the footwear in her collection is practical and comfortable as well as stylish.

“These heels are high, but not like you’re on stilts,” she says. “There’s nothing sexy about not being able to walk.”

The Italian-made shoe line will feature pumps, booties, flats, sandals and bags but the mother-of-three says the most important thing the collection aims to deliver is timeless quality.

“I didn’t want to do anything that says, ‘Oh, these shoes are 2014.’ I want my shoes to be a part of the world for a long time to come,” she says.

Here’s a sneak peak of the SJP collection that was featured in O magazine.

Sarah Jessica Parker always puts her most fashionable foot forward at every red carpet event.

“We want to offer something different, something that hasn’t been available so far,” Parker said of the SJP collection.

According to the star, it was important to include a variety of colours and heel heights.

While no strappy sandal would have been too outlandish for Sex and the City’s Carrie Bradshaw, SJP wanted her line to be more practical and timeless.

The chic Italian-made range will feature everything from flats and pumps to espadrilles and bags.

One of the pairs in the range will reportedly be named “The Carrie” in an effort to pay homage to her famous onscreen character.

“I really tried to give women beautiful silhouettes and colours and excellent quality for their money,” says SJP.

“These heels are high, but not like you’re on stilts,” says Parker.

When considering Parker’s icon status, there is no doubt the women of New York, who try to emulate the Carrie lifestyle, will flock to pick up some SJP pumps.

Bags, like this cherry red number, will be included in the collection.

From day to evening, SJP accessories will cover all bases.

Timeless, classic and elegant: The SJP collection will certainly turn the most fashionable of heads.

The most bizarre gifts given to the Queen

What do you get the woman who has everything? A chocolate replica of her favourite state coach covered in 24-carat gold, apparently.
Queen Elizabeth

That’s just one of the weird and wonderful gifts the Queen received last year in the course of her duties.

The palace published a full list of all official presents received by the royal family in 2013 overnight and it makes for very interesting reading.

Princess Anne was given some of the most unusual items, including a portrait of her riding a moose, a book entitled Your Arms Remind Me Of Pork Luncheon Meat, a garden gnome and a knitted hat with horse ears attached to it.

A portrait of Princess Anne riding a moose by Canadian Charles Patcher.

The Queen received a jewelled ostrich egg with her photo on it, a portrait of herself burned into a tree trunk and an Oyster card to use on London’s public transport system.

Harry was one of the luckiest royals, receiving many gifts he would actually find quite useful, including a brown leather flying jacket, personalised Nike trainers, a bottle of whisky and an engraved hip flask.

The customised Nike trainers Prince Harry received while in the US.

Charles was not so fortunate, accepting a ceramic figurine of himself with Postman Pat, a pair of sleeveless jackets and 18 bottles of women’s perfume.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge did not receive any official gifts as they did not travel overseas in 2013 due to Kate’s pregnancy.

Twins on the way for Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky!

Picture: Getty/Splash

Chris Hemsworth and his wife Elsa Pataky got double the surprise when they confirmed rumours recently!

Chris, 30, and Elsa, 37, announced they were expecting in November 2013 and now the couple’s representative has confirmed they will add twins to their family later this year.

Already parents to 20-month-old daughter India Rose, the loved-up pair couldn’t have looked happier on the Golden Globes red carpet as they posed together and showed off Elsa’s baby bump for the first time.

“You have to make an effort and try to stay together as much as you can,” Pataky told People in May about putting her family first.

“If we start splitting and doing other things, it’s not going to last. We try and keep it as normal as much as we can — like a typical family.”
