Queen bans Kate’s short skirts for Aussie trip

Queen bans Kate's short skirts for Aussie trip

The Queen is giving the Duchess of Cambridge an Australian makeover for her trip Down Under, asking her to ditch her short skirts in favour of longer hemlines and royal tiaras.

Kate, Prince William and six-month-old Prince George will be making their highly anticipated trip to Oz in April for their first royal tour of Australia and New Zealand.

As well as travelling with her family, Kate will be accompanied by a team of people to dress her in daily couture outfits, with up to four outfit changes per day to meet the Queen’s high standards.

Kate will be travelling with an entourage that includes her hairdresser, Amanda Cook Tucker, and the Queen’s own personal dresser, Angela Kelly, who has dressed the Queen for the past 20 years.

“Angela has been asked to start selecting jewels ahead of the trip,” a royal source told UK newspaper The Mail On Sunday.

“She knows most of the pieces in the Queen’s private collection. Her understanding is crucial because this trip will be about Kate appearing more royal than ever – you can expect to see a lot more tiaras, and the Queen will be watching closely.”

The 32-year-old new mother will also be carrying some breathtakingly expensive jewels, including tiaras, royal stones from the Queen’s personal collection and a set of Indian gems, known as the Cambridge Jewels, which have been passed down through royal women, from the Queen Mother to Princess Diana.

The Queen has hand-selected sentimental pieces for Kate to wear from her own personal collection, including her mother’s diamond and ruby hibiscus brooch that was given to her as a gift from Australia in 1958, and her own golden wattle brooch, which she received on her Coronation Tour of Australia in 1954.

Kate has also contacted such labels as Alexander McQueen and Alice Temperley to ask them to design her Australian gowns and day dresses.

“Kate is going to need someone to help her get ready,” designer David Emanuel, who oversaw Diana’s wardrobe, told The Mail On Sunday.

“Even a modern-day royal needs help with dressing. Kate is going to be scrutinised from head to toe.

“We take for granted how good she looks but it’s a lot of work. You need to think about the national colours of the country, its flag and emblems, and how to reflect that in the clothes you wear.”

Kate gives Prince Harry relationship advice

Kate gives Prince Harry relationship advice

A new relationship is blooming in the British royal family with Prince Harry turning to his sister-in-law, Kate, for relationship advice.

The Duchess of Cambridge has conducted herself like a natural royal since marrying Prince William in 2011 and is passing on her prowess to Will’s younger, cheekier brother.

Prince Harry is renowned for his public slips-ups and his relationship with dancer Cressida Bonas is closely followed by the UK’s ruthless press.

As the in-law sibling relationship grows, Harry has turned to Kate in response to growing speculation his relationship with Cressida, 24, is on the skids.

“Kate knows all too well how damaging false reports can be,” a source told UK magazine Look. “So she urged them to show the world they were still going strong before the story snowballed.”

Harry and Cressida have been dating for over 18 months with many speculating their relationship will lead them down the aisle.

However, it is well documented how Harry’s English sweetheart shies away from life in the public eye and is overwhelmed at the idea of marrying into the royal family.

Meanwhile, 32-year-old Kate has showed absolute poise and humility throughout her courtship with Prince William during their break-up, reunion, engagement, royal wedding and birth of their son, Prince George.

Despite Harry being born into the royal family, it is Kate who has become the person he turns to for advice.

In a new move thought to be encouraged by the Duchess, the 29-year-old Prince wrapped up his position as a combat Apache pilot, instead taking a more low-profile job in London.

Handsome Harry is now responsible for organising ceremonial events and supports wounded servicemen.

“He would have never come back to London if it wasn’t for Kate,” adds the source. “He always said absence makes the heart grow fonder, but as time went on, he realised that wasn’t true. He wants to be closer to Cressy and give this relationship a shot.”

Ian Thorpe back in rehab for depression

Ian Thorpe

Ian Thorpe was found in a confused state.

Police have said emergency services were called at about 3am “after concerns were raised for a man seen near a vehicle”.

Upon arriving at the scene police spoke to Thorpe, who was sitting in a vehicle in the street, and he was then taken to hospital for assessment.

“No official complaint has been made and no further police action is anticipated,” police said.

Thorpe’s manager James Erskine said the swimmer’s “dazed and confused” state was the result of a combination of antidepressants and painkiller he has been taking for a shoulder injury.

“There was no alcohol involved, he hadn’t been drinking or anything like that,” Erskine said. “He became disorientated and he tried to get into what he thought was a friend’s car, but it wasn’t his friend’s car at all.

“It looked the same and I think it was the same make, same colour, and obviously somebody saw it or the owner of the car saw it [and] called the police.

“The police came; they were fantastic, they realised it was Ian Thorpe and they called an ambulance.

“The hospital then suggested – or more than suggested, I think – that he should go into rehab for depression and that’s what’s happened.”

Thorpe, who has been living in Switzerland for the past 18 months, had been staying with at his parents’ home in Panania over Christmas.

This comes after Thorpe left hospital care early on Friday, having been under medical supervision since Wednesday night for depression and alcohol abuse.

Thorpe’s manager James Erskine refuted claims that he had spent time in alcohol rehabilitation and claimed he was in hospital for a shoulder operation.

Queen Elizabeth told to boost Royal Family income

British politicians have told Queen Elizabeth II's household accountants that they need to boost the royal family's income.
The Delhi Durbar Tiara

British politicians have told Queen Elizabeth II’s household accountants that they need to boost the royal family’s income.

Suggestions have included more tours, leasing of the Royal Family’s properties and making its facilities available for commercial events.

We’ve seen some stunning exhibitions of royal heirlooms, palaces and gardens in recent years. The Queen’s finest gems were put on display for the first time to mark her Diamond Jubilee, and whole new sections of Kensington Palace were unveiled following a £12 million refurbishment.

Hopefully the Public Accounts Committee has these types of initiatives in mind, in order to put some of the Royal assets to work.

May we suggest some?

Rebecca Judd welcomes baby girl

Rebecca Judd and her husband AFL footballer Chris Judd have welcomed their second child, a baby girl.
Rebecca Judd and daughter Billie.

Billie Kate Judd was born just after midday on Saturday, weighing in at 7lbs 4ozs (3.3kgs). She arrived a week ahead of her official due date, with Rebecca sharing the couple’s happy news via Instagram, with a picture of Billie’s birth card, simply captioned “Princess Time”.

Rebecca announced the birth with this shot.

A second photo of Rebecca and Billie, both dressed in grey, was added to the proud parents’ Instagram accounts later that night.

The new arrival joins the couple’s first child, son Oscar, who was born in July 2011.

The model and lifestyle blogger, who recently celebrated her 31st birthday, has been sharing poolside pictures of her bump with friends and fans in a series of bikini snaps as her due date approached. Pictured in one shot wearing a green bikini and fedora hat, Rebecca wrote on Instagram, “Wouldn’t mind sharing my birthday with bub #getoutplease.”

Rebecca had revealed to readers of her lifestyle blog in late January that she hoped the baby would come early. “My obstetrician said, ‘if your baby was any lower in your pelvis it would be out. It could not be any more engaged than it is’,” she said.

Rebecca first made headlines around the country when she accompanied Chris to the 2004 Brownlow Medal wearing a revealing red dress. The couple married in an elegant New Year’s Eve ceremony in 2010.
