Kris Jenner takes credit for Kanye’s proposal

Kayne West and soon-to-be mother-in-law Kris Jenner.

The Kardashian matriarch says she played a “major role” in organising Kayne West’s proposal to her daughter Kim

Kris Jenner has declared she was “directly involved” in putting together the huge event that resulted in the engagement of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.

The statement was made in the lead-up to the court case the family has filed against YouTube co-founder Chad Hurley, who leaked footage of the lavish proposal – including orchestra, champagne and fireworks – at At&T Park in San Fransisco last year.

Kris says she was the one who got all the family members together and “played a major role in organising and running the event”, a court declaration states.

“As part of this, I was directly involved in formulating and was familiar with the guest list … He (Chad) was not even invited to attend; Kim and Kanye did not know him.”

It is believed that Chad showed up to the event with an invited guest and later leaked the footage which was meant to be an exclusive for a double episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, leading to the lawsuit.

A hearing has been set for March 18.

Target has had a spectacular Photoshop fail, crudely airbrushing an obvious and unnatural “thigh gap” onto a young teen modelling swimsuits on its website.

The US branch of the retailer has received thousands of complaints after it published heavily retouched images of model on its website.

In addition to having her thighs dramatically slimmed, the young woman’s waist, hips and arms have had inches shaved off them, making her already slender physique appear dangerously thin.

Making matters worse, the images are promoting items from the store’s junior line, aimed at young girls who are most susceptible to body image pressure.

Sadly, Target isn’t the only retailer to drastically alter its images to sell products – here are some of the worst offenders in our Photoshop hall of shame.

Phantom calls give flight families hope

A relative of the a missing passenger is swamped by media.

Distressed relatives of passengers on board the missing MH370 Malaysia Airlines flight are claiming they have made calls to the mobile phones of their loved ones, which have dialled and rung before disconnecting.

As the world continues to wait news of what happened to the Boeing 777 flight, carrying 239 people, which seems to have vanished without a trace less than one hour after take-off from Kuala Lumpur, mystified officials and relatives are increasingly frustrated.

Rumours have circulated that friends and family members of those missing were able to call their lost loved ones’ mobile phones and could ‘connect’ before the call was abruptly ended.

The mystery surrounding Flight MH370 has created a fertile breeding ground for speculation and caused some on the ground to question whether authorities are concealing valuable information. According to newspaper reports a petition with over 100 relative signatures has been submitted to Chinese Authorities demanding answers.

Singapore’s Straits Times has reported Mr Hugh Dunleavy, Commercial Director at Malaysia Airlines, said the airline was also trying the mobile phones of the crew members, and that they also rang. But it could not do more, he said, and had given the numbers to the Chinese authorities.

A board displaying messages for the passengers from the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 is seen at Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Sepang on March 11, 2014.

The stories of phantom phone calls gives hope to the families who are holding onto the possibility that the plane has not crashed and the smartphone GPS systems could be used to locate the plane which may have landed somewhere.

However, other officials have dismissed the reports and warn that the rumours are just part of a heartless hoax to fuel conspiracy plots. MAS spokesman Ignatius Ong dismissed the reports, saying he had personally called one of the phones and failed to connect.

“I myself have called the number five times while the airline’s command centre also called the number. We got no answering tone,” said Ignatius.

Four days on, 10 countries have joined the search for the aircraft but there is still no sign of the plane or its passengers over the South China Sea, which has forced officials to widen the search area.

Fevolas call time on marriage

The marriage between AFL star Brendan Fevola and wife Alex is over… again, reports JONATHAN MARSHALL

It seems Brendan Fevola’s demons keep catching up with him – and have once again triggered his wife to walk out. The well-known gambling addict and his stunning Dancing With The Stars wife Alex are living separately, Woman’s Day can announce.

Alex, who owns a photographic studio near her home, confirmed the story to Woman’s Day, but added: “I’m not sure I’m ready to talk about this.”

“Alex has had enough – she wants to focus on saving her business before it starts getting affected by Brendan’s financial situation,” says a friend. “He’s had too many chances.”

The couple, who have two daughters together and another from Alex’s previous relationship, married in 2005 but 14 months later announced they were separating after Brendan was caught having an affair with model Lara Bingle. They later reunited.

The couple’s children are living with glamour girl Alex in the Melbourne suburb of Hampton. Brendan is given weekend access and the split is not expected to end up in court.

The star player moved to Yarrawonga and has been appointed coach of the O&M interleague and is well known to staff at the town’s RSL and TAB.

Brendan has been dogged by financial problems in recent times. In November it was reported he owed almost $75,000 to creditors, including $13,000 on a credit card and $3200 to the ATO.

His gambling issues have been more than problematic and the severity was illustrated when he took his family to Vanuatu in August last year and was photographed visiting a casino in the afternoon while Alex and the kids remained in the hotel.

A few months later, reports surfaced that Brendan borrowed money to pay school fees for his children, something Alex says she knew nothing about.

Brendan made no comment when approached by Woman’s Day.

How one extra hour of sleep can help save your life

New research suggests one more hour of sleep really does make a difference – particularly during daylight savings

Studies have long told us that sleep is important. And for as long as it has existed, people have lamented the start and/or end of daylight savings. Does it really throw our bodies out of whack that much? It’s only one hour!

New research suggests that yes, one hour does make a whole lot of difference especially when, as lives get busier and each day gets fuller, sleep falls further and further down the priority list.

A study at the University of Alabama found that heart attacks increase by 10 per cent on Monday and Tuesday following the change to daylight saving time, while a Swedish study found that heart attacks increase the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday following the switch.

Research into traffic accidents throughout Canada by the University of British Columbia found a 7 per cent increase on the Monday after the clock shifts forward, which was followed by statistics outlined in the Journal of Applied Psychology that show accidents at work happen more often and are more severe after turning the clock forward by one hour.

If you were wondering whether the opposite effects took place when we turn the clock back an hour, the answer is a resounding ‘yes’. Heart attacks and car accidents decrease when we gain time to rest, studies show.

That one hour of sleep deprivation has been studied in relation to daylight savings, but what happens when you cut back on it on a daily basis? You are at risk of the exact same outcomes.

Our modern-day society sleeps way less than ever before so think before you fuel up on caffeine in place of an extra hour’s sleep because it really isn’t worth the strain on your body.

Pistorius vomits during graphic testimony

Oscar Pistorius arrives in court.

Oscar Pistorius arrives in court.

Oscar Pistorius repeatedly vomited, retched and sobbed as he heard graphic details of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp’s injuries on the sixth day of his murder trial.

The disgraced Paralympic champion vomited into a bucket provided him to by the court and cried loudly as the forensic pathologist who conducted Steenkamp’s autopsy described the damage done to her body in terms so graphic the judge agreed to halt the trial’s live television coverage for the duration of the testimony.

Judge Masipa also stopped the live radio feed from the courtroom and banned journalists from live tweeting the evidence in order to protect people, particularly children, from the grisly details.

Pistorius’ extreme reaction to the evidence won him no fans on social media, with some claiming it was all an act designed to garner maximum sympathy for him.

Pistorius has pleaded not guilty to murdering Steenkamp on Valentine’s Day in 2013. If he is found guilty, he faces 25 years in jail.

David Bowie, Iman, Tom Brady, Gisele Bunchen

Supermodels are almost like mermaids; rare, elusive and impossibly beautiful but what kind of man would it take to get such a charmed creature to stop and notice him?

Well, there are a few lucky men who have managed to put a giant sparkly ring on it and while there seems to be a pattern emerging among these partners i.e. rich, musical, rich, athletic, rich … these genetically blessed duos seem happy in their ongoing relationships.

Iman, 58, has been married to her legendary musician husband, David Bowie, 67, since 1992.

Model/mogul Elle Macpherson, 49, married her billionaire husband, Jeffery Soffer, 44, last year at a private ceremony in Fiji. The pair now split their time between London and Miami, where Jeff has a variety of business interests.
