The Duke of York has snapped what is believed to be the first selfie taken inside Buckingham Palace, which is usually a tech-free zone.

The 54-year-old posted the picture of himself smiling in front of a group of 350 young people attending an event about technology and business and posted it to his twitter account.

While this selfie hasn’t gone viral like Ellen’s Oscar’s selfie, it has had 287 retweets.

“This is a unique day at the Palace because we are encouraging you to use your phones and electronic gadgetry,” the duke told the guests at the event.

“As a result of that, I’ve decided there’s a bit of a thing going around about selfies.”

Almost two months after she was freed from jail, it seems Schapelle Corby is finally getting on with her life.

The convicted drug smuggler, who spent almost 10 years in Indonesia’s Kerobokan Prison, has been seen out and about in Bali looking relaxed and going about her everyday life.

The pictures, taken in early March, show Schapelle wearing a Balinese-style dress and sunglasses, and carrying a white clutch. The 36-year-old looked happy as she chatted to her half sister Mele Kisina.

Schapelle, who was released on parole in February, appeared for her second monthly parole meeting this week, where she refused to remove her motorbike helmet.

She only agreed to remove it after an official said they wouldn’t process her parole unless they could see her face. Schapelle then spent 10 minutes in counselling with a parole officer.

The Queen meets Pope Francis at the Vatican

The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh visited Rome on Thursday, where they met Pope Francis at the Vatican for the first time.

The monarch presented the Argentine-born pope with a hamper, containing 18 items from Buckingham Palace, Windsor, Sandringham and Balmoral.

It had two types of honey, a bottle of whiskey, ‘Coronation Best Bitter’, ‘Grandad’s chutney’, eggs and ‘Sandringham handmade aromatherapy soaps’.

In return the Pope presented Her Majesty with a lapis lazuli orb – a semi-precious stone – decorated with a silver cross of Edward the Confessor as a gift for the eight-month-old prince, with an inscription on the base that read ‘Pope Francis, to His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge’.

Pope Francis welcomes Queen Elizabeth to the Vatican City.

The Queen said Prince George “will be thrilled by that”.

The royal couple was also presented with a copy of the 1679 decree by Pope Innocent XI which turned Edward the Confessor into a saint for the Catholic Church.

It was the Queen’s seventh meeting with a head of the Roman Catholic Church.

Nigella Lawson denied entry to US over drug admission

Nigella Lawson has been refused entry to the US because of her courtroom confession that she took cocaine.

The 54-year-old cook was prevented from boarding a flight from London Heathrow to Los Angeles on Sunday morning.

The UK’s Daily Mail newspaper reports Nigella arrived alone at the airport on Sunday morning to catch a British Airways flight to LA.

She is believed to have checked in and passed security before being told she couldn’t board the plane.

US authorities are thought to have refused her entry to the country on the grounds that she admitted to using cocaine in a dramatic courtroom confession last year.

Nigella is now expected to hire lawyers to fight the ban, but that could take weeks, putting her career on US show The Taste in jeopardy.

Curvaceous Aussie model Robyn Lawley has landed the cover of US Cosmo in her first ever full beauty spread.

The Australian model from Sydney’s west is kicking goals in the fashion sphere and has just ticked off another triumph with a US Cosmopolitan cover and full beauty spread in the May issue of the magazine.

In an industry unlikely to embrace those beyond a small frame, no one was more surprised about the cover than the model herself who posted her excitement on social media.

Robyn shared the happy news on her official Facebook page on Tuesday, saying: “Had no idea, Cosmopolitan USA featured me as a second peel away cover !!! So awesome !!! I can’t wait to get an issue.”

The May issue of US Cosmopolitan is Robyn’s first ever beauty feature.

Robyn, who has been an advocate for size diversity since the beginning of her career, last year found herself on The Ellen DeGeneres Show to talk about her ideas on body image.

“Saying you love your body actually works,” Lawley told Ellen. “It makes a positive rebound effect. And then you start loving your body. You start not caring about the little things.”

In the past, Robyn has also been dismissive of the “plus-size” tag that often precedes her moniker.

“Personally, I hate the term ‘plus-size’. It’s ridiculous and derogatory – it puts women down and it puts a label on them.”

Robyn first made international waves when she appeared on the cover of Vogue Italia alongside other curvy models Tara Lynn and Candice Huffine in June 2011.

According to stuff.co.nz, Newstalk ZB presenter Rachel Smalley thought that her microphone was turned off during a radio conversation yesterday morning.

She had been chatting on air about a story on the emergency contraceptive pill being less effective in a woman weighing more than 70 kilograms, and that the average weight of New Zealand women was 72 kilograms.

Smalley made an emotional apology this morning and said her comments that were broadcast were “hurtful”.

Infrared body wraps are the latest Hollywood weight-loss craze, so we decided to find out exactly which stars are loving the new treatment!

From the Kardashian’s to Miranda Kerr, stars are lining up to try the Infrared body wraps and discover the treatment’s apparent healthy benefits.

The theory is that the 50 minute session, which sees you lying on a massage table, wrapped in silicone bandages which gradually heat, causes you to sweat.

Your body’s natural cooling processes then kick into overdrive to try to cool you down. This process requires a lot of energy and also increases circulation and fat-burning.

Woman, 63, killed by shark in Tathra

Christine Armstrong, was swimming with friends between Tathra Wharf and Tathra Beach about 8.20am this morning.

Police said she fell behind the group of swimmers, turned back and was alone when the attack occurred. Human remains were found at the scene shortly after the attack.

The group, all regular early morning swimmers, are believed to be in treatment for shock.

“Emergency services are doing what they can for them but naturally they’re shocked and horrified by what’s occurred,” a police spokesman told reporters, adding that it wasn’t clear what type or size of shark was involved.

According to locals, this is the first shark attack in the area.

Emergency services, including the Westpac rescue helicopter and local fishing vessels, are continuing a search for both the body and the shark in sea to the north and south of Tathra headland, say NSW police.

Mrs Armstrong’s family released a statement this afternoon, saying she was “loved by many people”.

“She has been swimming at Tathra Beach for 14 years and was an experienced and committed member of the surf club,” the statement said.

“She was a senior surf club trainer for many years and swimming brought her much joy and many friends. She will be sadly missed by all who loved her, especially by Rob, her husband of 44 years.”

Meanwhile, human remains believed to be that of a 38-year-old man who went missing on Saturday during an ocean dive off Perth have been found with possible shark bites.

The remains were found by WA Water Police divers near the dive site yesterday.

Police said that a preliminary investigation indicated that “the male may have received shark bites”.

However, they also said that the cause of death remained unclear and that the man’s friends had not seen a shark.

If the man was killed by a shark, he will become the first shark fatality in western Australian waters since a controversial shark cull began in January.
