Peaches Geldof’s death still a mystery

What killed Peaches Geldof remains a mystery, after a post mortem examination into the 25-year-old’s death came back ‘inconclusive’.

The second daughter of musician, Bob Geldof, and the late Paula Yates, was found dead at her London home on Monday. There was no evidence of injury or suicide.

Police say they are now waiting for toxicology test results, and that it could take weeks before they determine exactly how the mother of two died.

Meanwhile, investigations continue at the models home, with forensic teams seen scouring through rubbish bins and walking around the property with sniffer dogs.

“The death is being treated as a non-suspicious, but an unexplained sudden death,” Police said.

“Officers are working to establish the circumstances and will be compiling a report of their findings for the coroner.”

Peaches was 11-years-old when her own mother died of an accidental drug overdose.

She leaves behind her husband, S.C.U.M singer Thomas Cohen, and their sons Astala, 23 months, and one year old Phaedra.

The day after her sisters unexpected death, Fifi Trixibelle, took to instagram to pay tribute to her little sister, sharing a picture of her and Peaches pulling faces when they were little.

An accompanying message read: “My beautiful baby sister … Gone but never forgotten. I love you, Peaches x.”

Peaches’ father, Bob Geldof, released a statement saying that the family was “beyond pain”.

Sexist Veet ads pulled from internet

One of the Veet commercials features two men in bed. Picture: Supplied

The US commercials, which suggest that women who don’t wax turn into men overnight, are part of a campaign with the tagline “Don’t risk dudeness”.

The four commercials show a hairy and overweight man playing the role of a woman who has suddenly realised she has body hair despite shaving the day before.

In one of the ads, a woman puts her leg over her boyfriend in bed. He touches it, realising it is hairy, and the person he thought was his girlfriend is revealed to be a man.

Veet’s US marketing team made a statement on Facebook, saying: “The idea came from women who told us that at the first hint of stubble they felt like ‘dudes’.”

“It was really simple and funny, we thought,” the statement said.

“Our intention was never, ever, to offend anyone, so we decided to rethink our campaign and remove those clips.”

Most of the time we see her carrying out her royal duties, but behind the scenes, the Duchess of Cambridge is very much a hands on mum.

Prince William’s private secretary, Miguel Head has revealed that Catherine, 32, is all about finding the perfect balance between her royal duties and motherhood.

“When she works in the evening, she spends the preceding day with George,” says a royal insider.

The working mother is said to be a natural when it comes to parenting and is focussed on getting it right.

And it’s not just quality time with her eight-month-old son that the Duchess carves out regular time for.

Catherine also knows the importance of keeping the spark alive in her marriage, and ensures there’s time for romance with her husband.

“It’s not the future king and wife who will do as she’s told,” says a friend of the couple, “but a husband and wife in the modern world.”

After the birth of Prince George in July last year, the Duke and Duchess took some time out from their royal engagements to spend it together as a new family.

The young royals arrived in Wellington on Monday, ahead of their visit to Australia next week.

The little Prince looks all worn out and has a rest on his mothers shoulder, after a big day mixing with other children in New Zealand.

Shock winners! Chantelle and Steve win The Block: Fans v Faves!

Underdog couple Steve and Chantelle have proven they can do more than clean soot and make hats. The chimney sweep and milliner have come out on top, crowned the winners of The Block: Fans V Faves during last night’s nailbiting auctions.

With no renovating experience prior to entering the reality TV competition, not even they thought they could take the prize. But the pair didn’t just win the show – they broke records.

Having endured 10 weeks of criticism that they were lazy and inept, the quirky duo walked away with a whopping $736,000 in their pockets after their luxury apartment sold for over $2,470,000 – the highest price in The Block history.

The record-breaking price was $636,000 over reserve. And to top it all off, the winners received $100,000 in prize money to add to their fortune.

But in the end, all four couples finished on a high, collecting a profit of more than two million dollars between them.

Runners-up were Adelaide twins and former police officers, Alisa and Lysandra. Their warehouse apartment sold for $2,375,000, fetching them a profit of $616,000 over their reserve.

In third place were the ‘Super Ks’ and favourites to win, Kyal and Kara from the NSW Central Coast. Their apartment sold for $2,440,000, giving them a profit of $567,250 over the reserve.

Meanwhile, comedians Brad (East Maitland, NSW) and Dale (Geelong, Vic) took home $507,250 when their apartment sold for $2,310,000.

In total, all contestants earned an astounding $2,426,500 for turning a run-down shell of a building into four high-end, luxury warehouse apartments.

The Block will return later this year for another series.

Artist shows armpit hair can be sexy

An artist has photographed a series of women with unshaven armpits in a bid to challenge the beauty industry’s “brainwashing” that smooth skin is sexy.

London-based artist Ben Hopper recruited eight women – including models, designers, actresses and his friends – to pose for his project entitled “Natural Beauty” seven years ago.

He has now released the first official set of images to the Huffington Post hoping to highlight that “a woman’s beauty and her armpit hair are in no way mutually exclusive”.

“I think armpit hair can be a beautiful look,” he said. “I don’t want to say that I want women to start growing their armpit hair. I just think that it’s a possibility and people shouldn’t dismiss it. I’d like people to just question beauty standards.”

Peaches Geldof’s death still a mystery

In the wake of Peaches Geldof's sudden death, there is speculation that the 25-year-old's dieting may have caused a heart attack.
Peaches Geldof.

Kent police said a post-mortem examination, which was held on Wednesday, proved inconclusive. The results of toxicology tests will not be available for several weeks.

The mother of two had spoken out about her juicing habits in the past. In an interview with OK! Magazine, she said: “You juice vegetables and then you drink it three times a day. It’s gross. I do it usually for about a month.”

The body of Peaches was discovered at her home in Kent, England on Monday and despite officers searching the property, police have described the death as non-suspicious but unexplained.

The Mail Online reported that no illicit drugs, suicide note or evidence of injury was found by police.

The second daughter of musician Bob Geldof and the late Paula Yates, Peaches was once known as a London party girl, but after marrying Thomas Cohen in 2012, many had watched her mature into a devoted wife and mother of two young boys. She frequently shared videos and pictures of her family on social media.

Tragically, her final tweet was of her as a baby in the arms of her late mother, Paula Yates. Peaches was just 11-years-old when her mother died from a heroin overdose.

Cohen said in a statement: “My beloved wife Peaches was adored by myself and her two sons Astala and Phaedra and I shall bring them up with their mother in their hearts every day. We shall love her forever.”

Bob Geldof also issued a statement to the media. “We are beyond pain. She was the wildest, funniest, cleverest, wittiest and the most bonkers of all of us,” the 62-year-old said. “Writing ‘was’ destroys me afresh. What a beautiful child. How is this possible that we will not see her again? How is that bearable?”
