The reporter along with her crew, Ben Williamson, David Ballment and Stephen Rice walked free around 4pm local time, with “smiles as wide as the Harbour Bridge” according to Nine News reporter Tom Steinfort.

Tara was in great spirits as she revealed the first thing she did after being freed was call her husband, John McAvoy.

“Had a chance to call John – I was ordered to call home straight away,” the veteran reporter told 9NEWS with a laugh.

“But not the kids yet, I can’t wait to speak to them obviously, although they have no idea about any of this.”

“It’s great to talk to home and it’s great to be going home.”

The sentiment resonated with Sally, who said she was “just so glad to be out of there.”

Adding, “I mean they treated us well, I can’t complain about that, it’s just the uncertainty that sort of kept me awake at night, not knowing if it was going to be a life-long sentence.”

The detained Aussies left the prison for Beirut Airport last night at about 11pm AEST.

Tara, along with 60 Minutes cameraman Ben Williamson, sound recordist David Ballment and producer Stephen Rice, were facing charges of kidnapping, physical assault, hiding information and criminal conspiracy.

“I release all the Australian crew on bail because Ali Elamein has dropped the charges,” the judge said.

Adding, “That is the personal charges that have been dropped. But criminal charges remain. They will have to return for them.”

Freedom! The group of Aussies couldn’t be happier to be returning home.

As for Sally’s estranged partner Ali Elamine, who dropped the charges, he has no resentment towards the Channel Nine team, telling the media they were “just doing their job.”

The network paid an unspecified amount of reconciliation money to the Lebanese father, who now has full custody of the kids, Lahela, five, and three-year-old Noah.

“I am glad it’s over,” he said outside Baabda Central Women’s Prison.

“She is their mother and I don’t want them growing up and thinking ‘Daddy had the option of letting Mummy off easily and he didn’t.”

IKEA’s deadly drawers: Third child killed by tipping furniture

A toddler has become the third child to have allegedly been crushed to death by IKEA’s popular Malm drawers.

A toddler has become the third child to have allegedly been crushed to death by IKEA’s popular Malm drawers, sparking a fresh safety warning from the Swedish company.

A 22-month-old Ted McGee, of Philadelphia, died after he tipped the top heavy Malm chest on himself and was crushed, reports the Philadelphia Inquirer.

His mother Janet claims she had put her son in his bed for a nap and was checking on him every 20 minutes but was horrified to discover him out of bed and trapped under the furniture.

Following the incident IKEA claimed the six dresser drawer was not fitted to the wall.

An IKEA spokesperson said: “We at IKEA offer our deepest condolences to the McGee family.

“At IKEA, we believe children are the most important people in the world and the safety of our products is our highest priority.

“Upon being informed of this incident IKEA US immediately reported it to the authorities and an investigation is taking place.

“IKEA US has been advised that the product was not attached to the wall which is an integral part of the product’s assembly instructions.

In the US it is the third such tragedy in the past two years. In 2014 a two-year-old boy from Pennsylvania being killed after a Malm chest fell on him, that same year a 23-month-old child from Washington killed in when a three-drawer Malm chest tipped and crushed him.

No reported incidences have been recorded in Australia but parents everywhere are advised to heed safety warnings.

IKEA said: “We wish to emphasise that the best way to prevent tip-over of chests of drawers is to attach products to the wall with the included restraints and hardware per the assembly instructions.”

Kidnapping charges against Tara Brown and 60 Minutes crew dropped

Kidnapping charges against Tara Brown and a 60 Minutes crew detained in Lebanon have been dropped, confirms 9News.

Kidnapping charges against Tara Brown and 60 Minutes crew dropped, confirms 9News.

A lawyer for one of the accused emerged from a Beirut court on Wednesday afternoon local time and told waiting press that the charges against the Channel Nine 60 Minutes crew have been dropped, well as those against Brisbane mother Sally Faulkner, whose case they were documenting.

According to Nine reporter Tom Steinford if the 60 Minutes team can come up with compensation by 2pm Beirut time (9pm AEDT) the crew will be released today and free to fly home.

This is a huge development considering the group were all facing charges that could have resulted in lengthy jail time.

Earlier this week a lawyer for Sally Faulkner, Ghassan Moghabghab, hinted at a deal being struck. Mr Moghabghab told News Corp that an agreement had been reached between Ms Faulkner and her estranged husband, Ali Elamine, the father of her two children.

At the time Mr Moghabghab described the negotiations as being “very positive”.

“Somehow we reached a deal,” Mr Moghabghab had said.

But according to AAP the deal could include the Ms Faulkner relinquishing custody of her two children, who currently are with their father in Lebanon, in return for her release.

Mr Elamine, a Lebanese-American, was seen entering the court today and is reportedly happy to see the charges dropped after reasoning that the TV crews were only in the country to document the story.

At this stage the fate of the two men from the professional child recovery agency is unclear.

Michelle Bridges hit a nerve: I was obese and unhappy

Michelle Bridges doesn't speak for all obese people, but for me, there is some truth behind her controversial comment.

When Michelle Bridges said that she has never met “someone who is morbidly obese and happy” she sparked a fierce social media backlash that labelled her a ‘fattist’ and blasted her for fat shaming.

Bridges certainly doesn’t speak for all overweight people, and high profile women such as Chrissie Swan and Meshel Laurie have vehemently waved the flag for body positivity.

But for me, Bridges hit a raw nerve. For me, there is some truth behind her controversial comment.

Twelve months ago I was obese.

I wasn’t unhappy. In fact I felt strongly that being overweight wasn’t a reason to be unhappy. I wanted to be a positive influence for my daughters and show them that bodies come in all different shapes and sizes.

I didn’t avoid swimming pools or beaches. I even wore a bikini, there was nothing to be ashamed of. ‘It’s just my body’ I reasoned. ‘It’s not me.’

But despite my sunny outlook the weight was dragging me down.

I was sluggish, lethargic and fond of sitting on my rotund arse. It was hard to get up in the morning. I was living in a fog.

I wasn’t unhappy – but I wasn’t exactly happy either.

On holiday with my family I let my kids pull me in to the sea for a swim and a splash. My husband took some photos (later he said that there was a danger that I’d never be in our family pictures, I was always behind the camera).

When I saw the photos I got a bit of a shock. It wasn’t just the weight (rolls of fat cascading over my hips) it was the air of apathy that hung around me. I looked like someone who didn’t care.

Something started to shift. I embarked on a health kick. This time it will be different I told myself. And it was.

I embraced exercise in a new way. I started working with a personal trainer who inspired me to push myself harder than I ever had before. I ran round the park, red faced and sweating profusely. I was determined to enjoy it – even when I felt like puking.

I found myself living in the moment – ‘here I am’ I told myself during every spin class, run and PT session.

I made other changes too. I gave up alcohol (at first to give my health kick an extra boost and then because I enjoyed sobriety. No one was more surprised than me) I weighed my food and re-learned what it meant to be full.

I’d like to say that I did all this because I wanted to be fit and active and that the inevitable weight loss didn’t matter. But, it did matter. And while it wasn’t my main motivation in the beginning my resolve grew with every kilo shed.

I replaced my wardrobe with a smaller size. Then I replaced that wardrobe with a smaller size and that wardrobe too. I became a tiny bit addicted to shopping – the thrill of getting into smaller clothes was a new type of high.

They say that old habits die hard, but I was working harder than ever. My new lifestyle became my new normal.

A friend told me that I was like a different person – and she wasn’t referring to my smaller figure. “You just seem really happy,” she said.

It’s been a year. I am 24 kilograms lighter. I am the fittest I’ve ever been. I have more energy to run after my children (sometimes literally, they scoot and I run, exercise and family time rolled into a fast paced game of tag) and I’m rarely grumpy.

Perhaps the strident body positive outlook that I strived so hard to maintain was just a clever disguise. Maybe I was in denial.

But when I look back on myself, overweight and perpetually harassed I see a woman in knots.

And now, untangled from the shackles of my own obesity, I really am happy.

The Monkees to release new album

We’re still believers!

This year marks just over five decades since Monkee-mania began.

And now, all three surviving band members – Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith and Peter Tork – have teamed up to release their first new studio album in 20 years, Good Times!

Scroll down for video

The three men have all written songs together, provided vocals and performed music on the album and the unmistakable voice of the late Davy Jones is also included with a vintage vocal on the Neil Diamond-penned “Love To Love.”

Fascinatingly, they have also completed many songs for Good Times! that were originally written and recorded for the group during the 60s.

Harry Nilsson wrote the title track Good Times, which he recorded at a session with Nesmith in January 1968.

The production was never completed, so the band returned to the original session tape (featuring Nilsson’s guide vocal) and have created a duet with his close friend Dolenz.

Good Times will mark the first time Dolenz and Nilsson have sung together since Dolenz’ May 1973 single Daybreak.

Good Times! will be available on May 27 and can be pre-ordered now.
