Sia’s disguise fails as gust of wind exposes her face

Despite her efforts to remain anonymous, Sia's disguise was no match for the weather.

Sia’s cover has been blown during a concert in Colorado on Wednesday.

The 40-year-old singer couldn’t maintain her disguise when a gust of wind picked up and blew her trademark hairpiece away, giving the audience a rare glimpse of her face.

The Aussie singer and song writer is famous for never showing her face in public and has gone to great lengths to hide behind extravagant wigs and hats on stage and the red carpet.

The secret’s out! Sia was too wrapped up in her performance to cover up her face.

Last year, the South Australian star told Ellen her efforts to hide her face in public stemmed from a desire to remain anonymous despite her fame.

“Well, it’s so that I can go to Target and buy a hose if I want to. Or if I’m in need of a restroom and I can’t find one, I could go by the side of the road,” she said.

Watch below to find out why Sia insists on hiding her face in public! Post continues.

Before releasing her own music, Sia was a song writer to the stars and has penned dozens of hit songs for Rihanna, David Guetta and Flo Rida just to name a few.

But it seems the talented artist wasn’t after the lifestyle and attention bestowed on her famous friends.

“I’ve been writing pop songs for pop stars for a couple years and have become friends with them and see what their lives are like. And that’s just not something I want,” Sia told Nightline’s Chris Conley previously.

“Someone once said, ‘The reality is that you don’t ‘get over’ the loss of a loved one, you learn to live with it,'” she continued. “I think Jackie would have liked us to do more than that. As she requested, I will not mourn her death, but rather celebrate her life.”

Tyra Banks defends Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid’s supermodel status

The model icon weighs in on the “supermodel war”, lashing out at the industry's catwalk cattiness.
Kendall Jenner Gigi Hadid Tyra Banks

It’s news to no one that there’s been a generational clash in the modelling industry, with certain former cover stars deeming the present day generation as “not true supermodels.”

But now in an attempt to end the catwalk cattiness, OG Tyra Banks has weighed in with a lengthy essay entitled Model War, that specifically defends today’s reality-turned-cover stars Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid.

Speaking out to her generation of “original supermodels” which includes the likes of Naomi Campbell, Heidi Klum, Giselle Bundchen and Cindy Crawford, the America’s Nex Top Model host began by acknowledging their hard work.

“We worked runways and shot magazine spreads together, schlepped to countless go-sees, used pay phones for on-the-go communication, and subways for transportation around the globe – no cell phones.”

“And, after all that hard work, dedication… after all the blood, sweat, fears and floods of tears… we finally were bestowed with the coveted title of Supermodel!”

The 42-year-old uploaded this mini-rant before posting her “Model War” essay.

The new mum then brings to light the mindset of some, who believe that the modern-day supermodel’s fame was fast-tracked by television and social media.

“Fast forward to present day, and some of us are in a state of shock.”

“We witness young girls on reality shows and super popular girls on social media now being called Supermodels and think, “WHAT?! It’s not fair! Is that kind of success even real?”

“Yes. IT IS REAL.”

Finally, she praises Gigi and Kendall with the message, “you’re on countless covers, rule all the campaigns, walk everyone’s runway, have top designers on speed dial and everyone knows your name.”

The conflict began in April earlier this year when actress and former model Rebecca Romijn called out best friends Kendall and Gigi as “not true supermodels” in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.

Seconding her notion was ex-model Stephanie Seymour, who went as far to call the 20-somethings the “b—hes of the moment.”

Unsurprisingly, the remarks made their way across the whole internet. Some fans agreed, whilst others rushed to the pair’s defense.

The two former-supermodels became the subject of a relentless online debate.

Following their comments and an influx of backlash, both Stephanie and Rebecca took to social media with apologies for Kendall and Gigi, but the damage had been done.

Clearly hurt by the scrutiny, Kendall took to her app with a post addressing the drama.

“Being a ‘supermodel’ is a relative term,” she began. “If people want to call Gigi and I supermodels now, it doesn’t take anything away from supermodels of the past.”

“Obviously, I have so much respect for those women, but right now, we’re the models of this time. Significant? Maybe. Hardworking? For sure.”

Unfazed, Kendall and Gigi will no doubt continue to dominate the fashion industry.

The husband of high-profile Sydney publicist Roxy Jacenko, Oliver Curtis, has been sentenced to at least one year in jail for insider trading.

Justice McCallum sentenced Oliver to two years jail, with possible release after one year on good behaviour. The stockbroker was charged and convicted for the $1.43 million he secured through trades that were based on illegal tip-offs given to him by his childhood friend and former Orion Asset Management employee John Hartman.

“Mr Curtis has not embraced responsibility for his offending,” Justice McCallum said, adding he was driven by “self-interested pursuit of material wealth”.

Before adding she did not believe the 30-year-old felt remorse for what he did.

“It is wrong to regard insider trading crime as victimless,” she remarked.

Nine News reported when Oliver received his sentence, he kissed his wife and handed her his wedding ring.

The judge also acknowledged that Oliver has changed since he committed the crime over eight years ago, when he was 21 and 22.

“It’s always gutting especially when young people are concerned.”

Roxy stated to the court that her husband was the kids’ “primary carer” as she was often busy at her “24 hours, 7 days a week” job.

“If Oli were to be sent to jail our children will lose the close relationship the have with their father for a period of time,” the Sweaty Betty PR executive quipped.

“Given their ages I’m worried about the effect this will have on them.”

“I will need to significantly reduce the amount of hours that I work to maintain my businesses in order to take up the parental responsibilities that Oli currently has.”

The Election: Are you scared yet?

Leigh Sales grills Bill Shorten to end a political week that is getting scarier than The Conjuring 2.

Former Prime Minister John Howard once said he wanted Australians to feel relaxed and comfortable.

Scroll down for video

But not the two men currently competing to be our next prime minister.

Judging by the scare campaigns being run by both the major parties over the past week, we can only assume they want us to be afraid, very afraid when we go to the polling booth in just over a week’s time.

The Prime Minister, Malcolm Turnbull, wants us to be anxious about hordes of asylum seekers invading our shores if Bill Shorten’s Labor is elected on Saturday week. That’s despite Shorten saying the boats will never make it here because Labor will turn them back just as the Coalition has done.

Shorten’s scare campaign is much closer to home, and is based on one of our greatest anxieties – being able to get access to affordable health care when we need it.

Political journalists have started calling Shorten’s scare campaign “Mediscare”.

The Labor leader has made Mediscare the main theme of his election pitch to voters. According to Shorten, the PM harbours a secret desire to sell Medicare to the private sector, meaning the end of bulk-billing and free access to some health services.

Shorten bases this accusation on the fact that the Government originally had plans to get a private company to run Medicare’s payments system because the current government system uses an antiquated IT network. Those plans have now been scrapped.

Bill Shorten was grilled by Leigh Sales

This is a long shot from selling off the whole of Medicare, but that little fact hasn’t deterred Labor from suggesting this is the PM’s real intention.

On ABC’s 7.30 last night, presenter Leigh Sales took Shorten to task for being fast and loose with the truth. She challenged Shorten half a dozen times to prove the Coalition would privatise Medicare if re-elected.

At one point Sales asked “Can you put your hand on your heart and look Australians in the eye and say that the Coalition has a policy to privatise Medicare?”

The Labor leader responded “I can say to the people of Australia that this election and their vote on July 2nd will determine the future of Medicare.”

Shorten couldn’t provide proof (because there isn’t any) and essentially said we should trust him when he says Turnbull’s track record proves he cannot be trusted.

That’s right, the man who helped Julia Gillard behind the scenes to knife Kevin Rudd, and then did the same to help Rudd beat Gillard, wants us to take his word over the word of the man who brought down Tony Abbott. What a choice.

Later in the 7.30 interview, Sales asked Shorten whether the message he was sending with his hyperbole around Medicare was that he didn’t think the truth alone could win Labor the election.

Shorten’s response was “Not at all. I just think the truth of the Liberals plans on Medicare is scary and I will not be deterred.”

So are you scared yet? You shouldn’t be. You should be angry instead.

Angry that the two men who are asking us to place our trust in them – not to mention the well-being of the entire country – are treating voters like fools.

With one breath they say they should be trusted, and with the next they’re spinning a lie about their opponent.

We deserve to be treated with greater respect than this. Voters need more than silly ghost stories to help us decide who is best fit to run the country.
