A definitive list of Taylor Swift’s famous boyfriends

As Taylor moves Swiftly from one A-list hunk to another (sorry, Calvin Harris!), we take a look back at the star's famous dating history.
Tom Hiddleston, Taylor Swift, Calvin Harris

As Taylor moves Swiftly from one A-list hunk to another (sorry, Calvin Harris!), we take a look back at the star’s famous dating history.

Before we’ve had a chance to recover from the heartache that is the end of “Talvin,” the 26-year-old star has already started flaunting her latest romance with potential James Bond heartthrob, Tom Hiddleston.

We take a look at the country star turned pop idol’s long list of ex lovers, while admiring her latest beau’s racy underwear shoot.

No wonder he has Taylor hooked! Tom Hiddleston, 35, recently posed for W magazine in nothing but his trunks. The actor, who is speculated to play the next James Bond, was snapped kissing the Bad Blood singer in Rhode Island last week, not long after her split from Scottish DJ Calvin Harris.

Taylor’s year-long relationship with Calvin Harris seemed to be going great, with the singer frequently gushing about her boyfriend during interviews. But news of the pair’s shock split broke earlier this month, with sources revealing the romance had simply fizzled. The pair have also deleted all traces of each other on their social media accounts, prompting fans to question whether the split was in fact amicable like they previously said.

The pair dated for just under four months, but John Mayer certainly made an impact on Taylor, inspiring her song Dear John (and probably many others)! Taylor was only 19 at the time, and the 12-year age gap proved to be a strain on the romance. One particularly telling lyric from the song included, “Don’t you think I was too young to be messed with? The girl in the dress cried the whole way home.”

Though the romance was short-lived (they dated for less than two months), Harry Styles was one of Taylor’s most hyped about relationships. Along with I Knew You Were Trouble, the One Direction star is said to be the subject of several songs on Taylor’s 2012 album Red.

That time Taylor was almost a Kennedy! The singer dated Conor, the grandson of Robert Kennedy, when he was just 18 and set to leave for college. Taylor was so enamored by Conor she even bought a house in his neighbourhood to be closer. We can’t blame her for selling up once the relationship went south!

Though she only dated Jake Gyllenhaal for four months (the actor reportedly broke up with her via text, ouch!) Taylor sure got a lot of material for her album. The songs We Are Never Getting Back Together and The Moment I Knew are rumoured to be about the 35-year-old.

It seemed sharing a first name didn’t bode well for this relationship! The singer’s whirlwind romance with Taylor Lautner began when they met on the set of their film Valentine’s Day.

They met on the set of Taylor’s You Belong With Me video, but her fling with Lucas Till apparently lacked the passion to go the distance. The model told MTV, “We dated for a little bit, but there was no friction because we were too nice.”

Joe Jonas was Taylor’s first famous boyfriend. The former Disney star brutally ended the relationship with a 27-second phone call. But it appears the exes have made up since then – Taylor even set Joe up with one of her besties, Gigi Hadid and enjoyed double dates with Calvin last year.

Happy birthday, Prince William!

Today, on Prince William's 34th birthday, we look back at his life and loves, from tiny prince to heir to the Kingdom.

When we first met Prince William, he was a tiny bundle in the loving arms of his mother, Diana, Princess of Wales. With a head of soft blonde hair and blue eyes, the world met Diana’s young son, and their future monarch, and fell in love.

From there, William endured both triumphs and hardships in the years to come. Growing up in the public eye as the son of the ‘most photographed woman in the world’ and the future King of England, William had to live with being on full display, even during the event of his mother’s tragic death in 1997.

But from that young Prince grew a handsome man, who, after enjoying a successful military career for many years, has stepped up as an heir, a Prince, a husband and a father.

After meeting his wife, Catherine “Kate” Middleton, at St Andrew’s University in Scotland, the two formed an tight bond that eventually led to their engagement, wedding and the birth of their two children, Prince George of Cambridge and Princess Charlotte of Cambridge.

Throughout the years of William’s life in the public eye, he has come to be known as kind, intelligent and distinguished, and is admired by many.

Soon after graduation, Prince William launched a successful military career.

Happy winter solstice!

The winter solstice is upon us again – but what exactly is it, and why does it happen?
Happy winter solstice!

Today is shortest day of the year (the winter solstice) for the Southern Hemisphere – an astronomical phenomenon that occurs each year in June as the Earth orbits the Sun.

But why is it the shortest day of the year?

“It all comes down to the fact that the Earth is tilted at about 23 degrees,” explains Geraint Lewis, Professor of Astrophysics at the Sydney Institute for Astronomy.

“So what happens is that orientation in space is fixed, and at some point the top of the Earth is closer to the Sun than the bottom.

“We are at the point where the Southern Hemisphere is further from the Sun.”

The solstices relate to the tilt of the Earth. The Southern Hemisphere is currently tilted away from the Sun.

Each year the solstice falls between 20-22 June for the Southern Hemisphere, while the summer solstice – the longest day of the year – occurs between 20-22 December.

“The word ‘solstice’ means ‘Sun still’,” says Fred Watson, astronomer at the Australian Astronomy Observatory.

“The Sun stands still in the sense that it’s northern and southern journey stops.”

From today, the days will get longer as the Earth continues to orbit, the Southern Hemisphere getting closer to the Sun each day as it approaches the December summer solstice.

Two astronomical phenomena collide

While it is the shortest day of the year in the Southern Hemisphere, it was (literally) the polar opposite for the Northern Hemisphere, which had its longest day of the year yesterday.

It was a particularly special summer solstice however, as for the first time since 1967 – almost half a century ago – the June full Moon and summer solstice fell on the same date. While not astronomically significant, these phenomena rarely cross paths, as the Moon’s cycle and Sun’s orbit are independent processes.

The shortest day of the year is a perfect time to catch the late sunrise and early sunset. Here are the sunset times around Australia today:

Smart super tips for women

Unless you want to work 15 years past retirement age, that is?
Woman checking finances online

Let’s be honest, most of us would rather discuss Nina Proudman’s love life than talk about superannuation, but with the election looming, the latter is top of mind. Right where it should be, the experts would argue.

See, as it stands, Australian women are getting a pretty rough ride when it comes to super.

A 2015 Westpac Report found that, on average, a woman’s super balance is $145,000 less than a man’s come retirement age. To match, women would have to work for an extra 15 years. No biggie.

Now, that could all change on July 2 – and we sincerely hope it does – but one thing is set to stay the same: how you manage your super matters.

Always add your TFN

When setting up a superfund, always link it to your tax file number straight away. This will help you avoid getting taxed incorrectly on your super contributions and can help you find lost super in the future. While you’re at it, register for online access. Some funds, such as BT Super for Life, make life simple. They allow you to manage your super and online banking in one so you can transfer money and keep track of both balances easily.

Super is savings

It’s easy to think of super as someone else’s money. Your employer pays it directly to your fund so the contributions often feel separate to any personal finances or savings plans you have. However, experts argue that you should see super not just as your money, but your savings too. It’s your nest egg for the future so take responsibility for it, manage it wisely and watch it grow.

Find and consolidate

According to the ATO, $13.5 billion in lost super is floating around unclaimed. Why? How? Well, a recent Westpac Lost Super Report found that 48% of Aussie workers weren’t even sure if they have lost super. Avoid being one of them by always filling out the choice of superfund form whenever you start a job. If you don’t specify a chosen fund, your employer will do so for you. That’s fine if this is your first job, but if you already have a super account, you could end up paying multiple fees on multiple funds. Your current fund or an online super search tool can then help find any outstanding contributions or ATO-held funds for you. Because the report also found that if everyone claimed their share of lost super today, it could equate to a whopping $42.4 billion by retirement.

Know your worth

Super isn’t just for full-time employees. Anyone over the age of 18 earning $450 a month (or more) is entitled to super contributions from their employer. Be sure that you’re getting what you’re entitled to and keep in mind that the Government revealed post-election plans that benefit part-timers, providing a refund for the higher tax they pay on some super contributions.

Make additional contributions

Employer super contributions equate to just under 10% of your gross salary. However, experts advise that higher super contributions – around 12% of your gross salary – will stand you in better stead for the future. You’ve got two options: salary-sacrifice super contributions that go straight into your fund before you get paid or personal contributions from your take-home salary after tax.

Following a 10-minute session in the sauna, I’m escorted into the exquisite hammam, featuring decorated walls and heated marble. The stone bed is surprisingly comfortable and super calming as my therapist starts with a full body exfoliation and scrub.
