What’s a distiller to do when he finds himself with a quarter of a ton of surplus Yarra Valley shiraz grapes?

Four Pillars gin man Cameron Mackenzie destemmed them, steeped them in gin for eight weeks, pressed the fruit, then added more gin.

The result is Bloody Shiraz Gin, an unfiltered, no-other-additives beauty that packs a potent purple punch at 37.8 per cent alcohol.

Its colour is reminiscent of sloe gin, but that’s where the similarities end. “I’ve never been a huge fan of sloe gin,” says Mackenzie. “It’s incredibly tart and acidic and [the flavour of the fruit] overpowers the gin. It becomes a liqueur.”

The spice of the shiraz grapes and the sharp citrus notes of the gin combine to create a highly smashable winter warmer best drunk straight, Mackenzie says, over ice. Or try it as a G&T – diluted with tonic, the gin’s colour changes to a vibrant acrylic pink.

Hello Granny! Queen Elizabeth visits Prince William at work

It was bring your grandmother to work day for Prince William!

It was a bit of a special day on the job for Prince William, as his Granny Queen Elizabeth decided to drop in for a visit!

The Queen and Prince Philip were greeted by their excited grandson William when they popped in to the new East Anglian Air Ambulance Base at Cambridge Airport on Wednesday.

The helicopter pilot royal welcomed both his grandparents with open arms and happily showed them around.

The Queen wore a pale pink ensemble and matching hat for the tour, as William, complete with and ID patch that said William Wales.

Welcome to my work, Granny!

He introduced the monarch to some of his co-workers, who explained how the operations at the ambulance base actually worked.

Meanwhile, the Duke of Cambridge’s colleagues revealed that they bought him a funny gift as a welcome present.

Wills reportedly has a great relationship with his colleagues.

The team bought him what every worker needs: an office mug with his name on it!

Except it wasn’t really his name… The cheeky workers had bought the Prince, an avid dance music fan, a mug that said Will.i.am, after the lead singer of the Black Eyed Peas.

Showing around your grandparents is serious stuff.

The Queen looked very proud of her grandson!

Although the mug wasn’t out of the cupboard for all to see when Queen Elizabeth arrived, his colleague Dr Pam Crispin confirmed its existence.

“We got him a mug before he arrived and it says, ‘Will.i.am.’ I wasn’t around when he received it, but I’m sure he’s pleased just to have his own mug.” she said.

Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip seem impressed with the helicopter that William flies.

Pam also confessed to her embarrassment when the royal father of two discovered what her own mug said.

“It’s a bit embarrassing, Jemma, one of the paramedics and I – she’s ‘Princess Jemma’ and I’m ‘Princess Pammie’ – and we have mugs with those names, but he doesn’t mind.”

Pam confirmed what a joy it was to have the 34-year-old prince working by their side.

“William is a great pilot, he’s a charming person, but most importantly, he’s a really great team player,” she confessed.

“He’s settled into the team really well and he is just one of us – I know that sounds ridiculous – but he is just one of us.”

Metal shavings have been found in hot dog buns at ALDI.

An urgent recall has been issued for ALDI’s 6 pack of hot dog rolls after metal shavings were found in them.

Bakers Life Hot Dog Rolls have been taken off the shelves in NSW and ACT stores, the NSW Food Authority said yesterday.

The recall concerns the rolls with a best before date of July 14, and should be returned to the place of purchase immediately.

Customers can expect a full refund.

Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice immediately.

Police have grave fears for her safety, and are now searching Maribyrnong River banks for.

Police have grave fears for missing Melbourne woman Karen Ristevski, with orders to conduct a search along Maribyrnong River for her.

The 47-year-old left her luxury home in Avondale Heights at 10am on June 29 after having a fight with her husband Borce about money issues.

Karen said she was going to get some fresh air but no-one has heard from her since.

Concerns for her safety were raised when she didn’t arrive to work at the Bella Bleu boutique at Watergardens Town Centre in Taylors Lakes.

Her family said she had medical issues and that’s it’s extremely unlike her to not contact anyone in the family.

Karen’s daughter Sarah urged the public to help find her.

She told the media: “I just want my mum to come home.”

Earlier this week it was revealed that police had questioned her husband Borce over the disappearance.

Karen has not used her ATM card and her mobile phone is switched off, sparking grave fears.

Woman posts chilling photo hours before plummeting to her death

A woman was hiking the Grand Canyon when she lost her balance and fell off a cliff.

A 35-year-old woman fell to her death at the Grand Canyon, hours after she posted a photo of herself sitting on the edge of a cliff.

Colleen Burns was hiking the South Kaibab Trail on Friday with two friends when she stepped aside to make way for another hiker and then lost her balance, according to one of the friends, Jessica Roman.

Colleen, a marketing director from Orlando, Florida, was at the edge of Ooh Aah Point when she fell backwards off the edge.

Park rangers found her body 120m below.

She had uploaded a chilling photo the night before to her Instagram, with the caption: “That view tho (sic)”.

Her mother, Catherine, told People magazine she’d been worried after seeing her daughter’s photo because she herself was afraid of heights.

“I saw the last photo she posted before she died, where she is looking at the canyon, and it put a chill through my body because I’m afraid of heights and I was afraid for her,” she said.

“I shut down my computer because it freaked me out so much. And then the next day we lost her.”

Such a tragedy.

Calvin Harris calls out “hurtful” Taylor Swift on Twitter

Tay’s DJ ex is reportedly sick and tired of her trying to “bury” him.

There is some SERIOUS bad blood between Taylor Swift and her ex Calvin Harris if his latest Twitter rant is anything to go by.

It seems the Scottish DJ has had enough, responding to the rumours she wrote his latest song featuring Rihanna, and calling out Taylor for her “hurtful” comments.

He started out playing nice, confirming the Love Story singer did indeed contribute to the track by re-tweeting a link with the headline “Taylor Swift wrote Calvin Harris and Rihanna’s hit This Is What You Came For.”

He followed the link up with a comment praising his ex-lover’s musical ability.

Calvin conformed his ex did write the lyrics for his latest hit.

“And she sings on a little bit of it too,” the 32-year-old added. “Amazing lyric writer and she smashed it as usual.”

He then when on to clarify the finer details, stating she’d written only the lyrics, and that he’d arranged the music, produced it and spliced in the vocal track.

But that’s where the niceties ended.

No more Mr Nice Guy…

Calvin then took to calling Taylor out on her motives for releasing the information.

“Hurtful to me at this point that her and her team would go so far out of their way to try and make me look bad at this stage though,” he wrote.

“I figure if you’re happy in your new relationship you should focus on that instead of trying to tear your ex-bf down for something to do.”

The Scottish DJ said if Tay was happy in her new relationship with Tom Hiddleston, pictured, she should be focusing on that.

Taylor has very publically moved on with Marvel movie star Tom Hiddleston, and isn’t shy about showing PDA all over the globe.

He then seemed to confirm Taylor’s ongoing feud with fellow musician Katy Perry in a tweet that’s sure to cause waves for the 26-year-old blonde pop star.

“I know… you need someone new to try and bury like Katy etc, but I’m not that guy, sorry.

“I wont allow it.” Ouch!

Katy immediately took to social media to seemingly respond to the controversy with a cryptic tweet.

The Firework singer posted a Hillary Clinton meme showing the US presidential candidate displaying a very matter-of-fact face.

Alongside the gif, she wrote, “Time, the ultimate truth teller”.

Fans immediately applauded Katy for her subtle shade throwing.

Zayn Malik says an alien told him to quit One Direction

No we aren’t kidding. The solo pop star says the extra-terrestrial came to him in a dream.

Um OK. Zayn Malik’s latest confession on why he left One Direction has us all going, “Wait, WHAT?”

The former member of the singing sensation boy band revealed that he quit the group that made him famous because an alien told him to.

Glamour Magazine unearthed the out-there reason for going solo during a recent interview.

They asked him when the first time was that he realised he wanted to split from the band and do his own thing, musically speaking.

Yep. Aliens told him to do it.

“An alien spoke to me in a dream,” the 23-year-old musician told the publication.

Unfortunately for us all, he neglected to expand on it any further than that.

No word yet on what Zayn’s girlfriend Gigi Hadid has to say on the matter.

He also revealed that his first celebrity crush – or crushes rather – was “Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.”

“They’re the same, right?” he jokingly said.

The former boy band member also confessed his biggest mistake to date: “wearing pastel colours.”

Zayn’s first celeb crush was the Olsen twins.

The singer announced in March 2015 that he planned to go solo and leave his bandmates Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson.

He’d been with the group for five years at that point.

Bradley Cooper and Irina Shayk drama all down to allergies

Before you start thinking there is zero love between Bradley Cooper and Irina Shayk, new reports inform us it was simply a case of pollen in the air!

TMZ have kindly revealed that the heated match occurring away from the Wimbledon tennis courts between the Hollywood couple was all down to allergies.

Sources close to the couple told the media outlet that “the supermodel was simply battling allergies.”

Things looked… unpleasant.

The source also has a very reliable explanation for Bradley’s side eye.

“He was actually talking to retired tennis star Stefan Edberg, who was sitting next to Irina. TV cameras didn’t show Edberg, which made it seem like Bradley was peeved at Irina.”

The 41-year-old and his girlfriend definitely had the world fooled.

The pair, who began dating last April, appeared to be right in the middle of an argument.

The atmosphere was so awkward that even people watching the Andy Murray and Milos Raonic’s final seemed more intrigued by the couple’s off court drama.

Bradley appeared to be desperately trying to talk to Irina, but she would have none of it.

She remained stony faced and sullen, at one stage turning away from her 41-year-old beau to wipe tears from her eyes.

But there is a perfectly reasonable explanation!

Bradley was simply chatting away to Swedish tennis legend, Stefan Edberg.

Of course social media was abuzz.

“I think Bradley Cooper is in a fight,” one person tweeted. Another added, “Bradley Cooper done f–ked up.”

“Hold up. I know that reaction,” a fan quipped. “She’s crying cause he said ‘after this lets stop for pizza on the way home’ #tearsofjoy #BradleyCooper.”

Bradley’s ex Suxi Waterhouse was at the final.

Pollen seems to follow Mr Cooper around… The former couple attended a match back in 2014.

No pollen issues for these stars!

Many speculated the awkward exchange was due to the fact that Bradley’s ex, Suki Waterhouse, was also in the building.

Surprisingly other stars that were at the match, including Duchess Catherine, Diane Keaton and Benedict Cumberbatch had no reaction to said pollen.

We’re just happy to know that Irina isn’t allergic to her beau, rather the British summer.

Identical quadruplets snooze through gorgeous shoot

These photos are just perfect.

This photographer lucked when taking photos of these adorable quadruplet girls – they slept through the whole shoot!

Cassandra Jones of Noelle Mirabelle Photography had the very cute task of capturing these precious moments of identical sisters Abigail, Mckayla, Grace and Emily Webb.

And look at their little outfits!

First-time parents Tim and Bethani Webb, from Canada, were over the moon with how great the pics turned out of their baby girls.

Identical quadruplets are so rare that there is said to be only 70 sets known in the world right now.

The overjoyed parents tell the bubs apart by different colour ear piercings – Abby has blue, Emily has purple, Grace has red and Mckayla has pink.
