Cate Blanchett spluges on £3 million English manor

And you won't believe who her fancy neighbours are...

Oscar winner Cate Blanchett and her family have reportedly bought a large £3 million estate home in the English countryside.

The Hollywood actress has made plans to relocate to Los Angeles this year with her playwright husband, Andrew Upton and their four children, but as the rich and famous do, the couple has also purchased Highwell House, an extensive red brick Victorian mansion in Crowborough, East Sussex, reports the Daily Mail.

Set on 13 acres the recently restored property features seven bedrooms, five reception rooms, an imperious oak staircase and sprawling grounds of greenery, no doubt for children Dashiell John, Roman Robert, Ignatius Martin and daughter Edith Vivian Patricia to play and explore away from the prying eyes of the public.

Cate, 46, and Andrew sold their Hunters Hill trophy home last year for a reported $20 million in less than 3 weeks of the property being on the market.

Now should the Blue Jasmine star want to borrow a cup of sugar from the neighbours she may want to pop around to fellow actress and Oscar-winner Kate Winslet’s home which is located in the same small county suburb.

The 40-year-old Oscar winner became a household name following her iconic role as Elle Woods. Just 25 when she filmed the 2001 comedy, it’s clear Miss Witherspoon hasn’t aged a day!

From the dress she wore for what Elle thought was her engagement dinner with Warner, to her iconic pink sparkly bikini – time has stood still for the accomplished star.

And she still can tap into Elle’s sass, quipping in one video, “whoever said ‘orange is the new pink,’ was seriously disturbed.”

Sharing a poignant message, the mum of three – she shares Ava, 16, and Deacon, 12, with ex Ryan Phillippe, and Tennessee, 3, with husband Jim Toth – also uploaded a powerful reference from the film.

Reese got to keep her wardrobe from the film!

Yeap, even that Halloween costume!

“Live every day like Elle Woods after Warner said she wasn’t smart enough for law school,” the quote read.

Instagram got behind the anniversary by chatting to the actress, who admitted that Legally Blonde was so much more than a movie for a lot of fans out there.

“I have had so many women say, ‘I went to law school because of Legally Blonde,” she told the social media outlet.

“It actually had a meaningful story. And it was about female empowerment. It wasn’t necessarily about the girl getting the guy.”

While there was a lot of depth to the rom-com, it still had one very loveable moment that every gal LOVES – the bend and snap!

Watch Reese teach us how to do it! Post continues…

“That is still the most asked request I get from people,” Reese laughed.

“I have a feeling I will be doing the bend and snap until I am 95.”

With her southern hospitality in check, Reese kindly showed fans the proper way to do a bend and snap ala Elle Woods style!

“You pretend you’re dropping something – whoops! – and you beeeeend and then you snap! And that’s how it’s done.”

I fell 18 storeys and survived

A 45-year-old man fell 18 floors – 30m – while high on ice and survived.

A 45-year-old man fell 18 floors – 30m – while high on ice and survived.

Zac (not his real name) told news.com.au he wanted to highlight the dangers of the drug ice after he fell from his balcony in Sydney’s World Square.

Police were called to his apartment on March 7 at 2.45am. A stand-off ensued after he was seen “scaling the side of the building” and throwing things off his balcony.

He then fell from the balcony onto a glass and steel awning, with negotiators, police and paramedics believing he was dead.

Somehow, he survived. The man told news.com.au he broke every bone in his body, and he now has two metal rods in his legs.

He said: “I don’t know why [I fell]. I was high on ice. They tell me I was on another planet.”

Zac threw a chair, a sports bag, a computer and a television set off the balcony

The man was seen on the awning with broken bones poking out from his body, but he then got up and lunged at police who were treating him.

“Hitting the canopy saved me. I broke both femurs, broke ribs, my lower legs and I still can’t lift my feet there’s so many broken bones in them.

“The right side of my face was numb but it’s coming back.”

The man, who worked as a construction worker, was mostly unconscious throughout his recovery process and is now walking with the aid of a frame.

Zac, who is a father and grandfather, said that he is positive about his future and wants to get away from drugs.

“I have always been positive. I want to live. I have everything to live for. I am a positive sort of person,” he said.

“Apparently I’ll be out in two months, although I’m weeks ahead in my rehab. I’ve been in three car accidents and survived and I’ve survived this. I was on ice. I want to go to Dubai and get away from drugs and drink.

“I want to be working as a supervisor on a building site in Dubai by next January.”

Drug Arm Australia national programs manager Richard Norman told news.com.au that long-term use of ice or methamphetamines could lead to drug-induced psychosis, or violent or suicidal behaviour.

“If there is chronic use of ice over a period of time, it can cause bizarre behaviour and emotional and cognitive problems and lead to the onset of other mental health issues,” he said.

Now Pete Evans is warning us about Wi-Fi

The other day it was sunscreen. Now, he's tackling Wi-Fi.
Now Pete Evans is warning us about Wi-Fi

Celebrity chef Pete Evans is blaming Wi-Fi for health issues in his latest unconventional claim, telling followers he protects his family from electromagnetic fields at home.

The Paleo diet leader has also sprung to the defence of his friend, ABC TV’s Catalyst journalist Dr Maryanne Demasi, who has been suspended over her controversial “Wi-Fried” episode that aired earlier this year.

The show was found to have breached editorial standards by favouring claims Wi-Fi causes health problems and giving little airtime to the scientific consensus that there’s no evidence of harm.

Last night, the TV chef posted a message on his Facebook page encouraging his 1.5 million followers to back a campaign imploring the ABC to reinstate Dr Demasi. Pete has previously appeared on an episode she fronted about low-carb diets.

“Maryanne is a journalist that is willing to tell the truth to help let Australians make wiser choices with the information she thoroughly investigates and shares,” he writes. “I am proud to call her my friend, and what is happening to her at the moment is unfair on so many levels.”

The Channel 7 My Kitchen Rules host waded into the Wi-Fi issue after making headlines last week by claiming regular sunscreen is full of “poisonous chemicals” and saying he generally goes into the sun without it or, during prolonged exposure, using a non-TGA approved skin product called Surf Mud (his claims about sunscreens were first exposed by The Weekly in a feature last year.

Pete Evans’ second book, Bubba Yum Yum: The Paleo Way.

Anti-vaccination claims have been posted on his Facebook page by some followers this week – although Pete did not post his personal views on this issue.

After a question on Pete’s opinion on children being vaccinated went unanswered, a follower called Katie wrote in reply, “I doubt you’ll get a response on that. [Pete] would know full well how vilified people get for speaking out against vaccines (even though there are damn good reasons to), so I think he’d be smart enough to stay away from that topic – for now anyway.”

In an interview with Fairfax Media last year, the TV chef reportedly suggested more research was needed into childhood vaccinations and autism. Ironically, childhood vaccines have been subject to an uncommonly large amount of research because of a fraudulent and now retracted 1998 study linking MMR to autism.

Pete has previously suggested the official Australian Dietary Guidelines have contributed to a rise in autism in children – a claim dismissed as unfounded by medical experts.

He has also expressed anti-fluoride views and one of his cookbooks includes claims that a Paleo diet can help with various health conditions, including “cancer remissions/tumour shrinkage”.

In a Q&A session on his Facebook page earlier this week, Pete Evans wrote “EMFS [electromagnetic fields] are causing a lot of issues for people” in response to a follower’s question about whether he would be making public “the dangers of Wi-Fi in our schools and houses”.

“We…turn off Wi-Fi at night at home and have our house EMF friendly,” he wrote. “If people have not educated themselves on this yet, then I urge them to do so as well. EMFS are causing a lot of issues for people.”

When it first emerged Dr Demasi had been suspended last week, Pete wrote, “SO SAD! One of our most professional and courageous journalists that we have in our country, Maryanne Demasi, has just been suspend [sic] from her job for sharing the TRUTH.”

Pete appeared on a Catalyst episode by Dr Demasi about low carb diets in 2014. During the program, he claimed coconut oil was a source of monounsaturated fats: a claim that the ABC later corrected. Coconut oil is very high in saturated fat and contains little monounsaturated fat.

A controversial report on statins by Dr Demasi in 2013 also provoked heavy criticism from the medical and scientific community and was later found to have breached standards on impartiality.

The beautiful babies who were born sleeping

They never took a breath or died soon after they were born, but they will live in their parents' hearts forever.

WARNING: GRAPHIC IMAGES.

They never took a breath or died soon after they were born, but they will live in their parents’ hearts forever.

We are taking a moment to celebrate these beautiful babies and all those who were born sleeping.

Paul Murray and Sian Horstead’s gorgeous son Leo passed away 34 hours after he was born in August, 2012.

Heartfelt arranged for these beautiful portraits of Leo to be taken so his proud mum and dad had something to remember him by.

Little Leo was perfect in every way.

Natalie Morgan shared these images of her stillborn daughter Eleanor on her Facebook page earlier this month.

Lovely Eleanor was born sleeping on September 11.

“All I ask of you is when you have your dark moments with your baby – when you’re at your wits’ end and feel like you can’t go on anymore when you’re only getting an hour or two of sleep a night – instead of begging your child to go to sleep and wallowing in your frustration and exhaustion, say a prayer of gratitude for your child, as difficult as it may be in that moment.”

“And if you would, say a prayer for me and all the mothers whose children were taken from them too soon. Say a prayer for my sweet, sweet Eleanor who never got to know life outside my womb.”

The girl’s mum posted her answer to the Huffington Post’s facebook last week, writing, “My daughter’s answer a problem on her 4TH GRADE math problem last night. #girlcodetrumpscommoncore”.

The question, which asks the students to figure out “who’s dating who” in a complicated logic question, got an unexpected answer when the girl wrote “I can’t answer this problem because my mom says acoording [sic] to girl code you [shouldn’t] date a friend’s [e]x boyfriend.”
