Being unfit is nearly as bad for you as smoking

We all know that being out of shape is bad for our health. But exactly how bad is it?

A new study from the US has found that being unfit is nearly as bad for you as smoking.

During the study, researchers from the University of Gothenburg in Sweden gathered information from a large long-term database of information about the health of 1000 Swedish men.

The researchers used aerobic capacity as a measure of fitness. They explain that while we inherit some of our VO2 max from our parents, most of our endurance capacity is determined by lifestyle. Being active will increase your VO2 max, likewise, being sedentary or overweight will lower your V02 Max.

When it came to risk of death, the researchers found that smoking had the greatest impact. But aerobic capacity came a very close second.

The men in the group with the lowest VO2 max had a 21 per cent higher risk of dying prematurely than those with mid-range aerobic capacity, and about a 42 per cent higher risk of early death than the men who were the fittest.

While this study focuses on men, the message can’t be ignored. Being unfit can really hurt your health.

But, unlike smoking, fitness is fairly subjective. So how can you tell if you’re unfit?

Fitness specialist Jen Dugard says that most of us can gauge our fitness level by observing how we move in our day to day life.

“Can you walk up the stairs without stopping or being out of breath? Can you run around after your kids and play? Do you know you are eating and sleeping well? Do you move on a daily basis?” she says.

“If your fitness level is affecting your life in a negative way then your fitness level is not good!”

Dugard notes that if you want to get a specific measure of your fitness then doing something like a push up challenge (how many push ups can you do in a minute) is a good way to start.

If you think that you need to improve your fitness then Dugard suggests starting small.

“Getting up and moving more during the day is a good place to start. Track your steps, make sure you take the stairs where you can,” she says.

If you are already doing this then you can build on it by committing to exercise three times a week. Dugard suggests brisk walking, jogging or aerobic gym classes.

“Commit to training with a friend. Hire a PT and pay for it! Get out for a walk every day. Take the stairs. Play a sport. Even just walking to the shops instead of driving is a simple way to live more,” she says.

Dugard also says that if you want to improve your fitness it is important to make other tweaks to your lifestyle.

“Drink less alcohol, eat less sugar, replace white bread for whole meal bread. Make home cooked meals and eat less takeaways,” Dugard suggests.

Dr Frank Jones is the president of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. He agrees that we should take our fitness (or lack thereof) very seriously.

He says that he uses the acronym SNAP (smoking, nutrition, alcohol and physical activity) to educate his patients about their overall health.

“Snap is a really good way to keep yourself healthy,” he says.

But, Dr Jones also notes that your GP can be a great person to talk to if you want to improve your fitness.

“It’s a good idea to go and see your GP before you embark on a new exercise program,” he suggests.

Dr Jones also notes that when you are starting to make changes it’s good to take it slow and steady and be consistent.

“Start slowly, take it gently and try to stay motivated,” he says.

“Your health is your greatest gift.”

7 upcoming true crime series to get obsessed with

Following the success of 'Making a Murderer' and 'Serial', here's what's up next in the true crime world.

1.Southwest of Salem

This follows the story of the San Antonio Four, four Latina lesbian women in Texas who were accused, and wrongfully convicted of gang raping two girls, aged seven and nine, in 1994. The accused were aged just 19, 20 and 21 and were sentenced to a collective 92 and a half years in prison for their alleged crimes.

The film fights to prove that the womens’ convictions came about due to bias against their sexual orientation. “As lesbian low income women of color, these women hold intersecting identities that make them the most vulnerable to incarceration and juror bias,” says director Deborah S. Esquenazi.

2. Tower

The story of the first mass school shooting in America. Tower, which premiered at SXSW film festival this year, is the terrifying true story of Charles Whitman, an ex-Marine, who climbed the tower on the University of Texas campus and shot 49 people, killing 16, in 1966.

Charles, who was later found to have a tumour on his brain, was a trained sniper and shot many of his victims from bonkers distances. Tower, directed by Keith Maitland, combines archived footage and animation to tell the story of that day when, as Keith says, “when the worst in one man brought out the best in so many others.” How’s that for a tagline?

3. Captive

Netflix’s next look at true crime. This eight-part series is set to look at delicate hostage situations around the world. According to Variety, “The episodes look at a wide range of situations from the viewpoint of everyone involved: the victims and their families back home, the negotiators, business leaders, government officials and the kidnappers.”

4. Entering Hades

This is miles off being done but it looks smashing. Rumoured to feature Michael Fassbender as the lead, Entering Hades is set to be the film version of the story of Jack Unterweger, an Australian journalist and minor celebrity who shocked the country when it emerged that he’d killed up to 11 prostitutes across several different continents.

5. Suspect

Suspect will cover Chillenden murders which occurred in 1996 when mum Lin Russell and her daughter Megan were murdered with a hammer in a bungled robbery attempt. Megan’s younger sister Josie was also attacked but survived. Michael Stone has been in prison for the crime since but maintains his innocence. Suspect is set to examine the evidence and take a look at whether he is indeed the right man.

6. JonBenet Ramsey

A huge sensation in the US, the murder of six-year-old beauty queen JonBenet Ramsey has never been solved. Although plenty of fingers have been pointed. This upcoming series on the murder and the subsequent investigation is set to air later this year.

7. Law & Order: True Crime – The Menendez Brothers Murders

The one everyone in America is talking about at the moment. Based on the murders committed by the handsome and wealthy Mendendez brothers, Law& Order: True Crime is set to be scripted like OJ Simpson: American Crime Story. In 1989 Lyle and Erik, 18 and 21, killed their parents in their Beverly Hills mansion. They are currently serving life without parole.

When life imitates art: Celebrities who fell in love on set

We check out all the stars who fell head over heels on set.
Kit Harington Rose Leslie

The story of the moment Heath Ledger fell in love with Michelle Williams is so Hollywood, it could be its own movie!

In commemoration of the 10th anniversary of Brokeback Mountain, cast and crew have shared their memories from the iconic 2005 film.

Screenwriter Diana Ossana, who won an Oscar for her work on the film, was lucky enough to witness firsthand the chemistry between Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams for the very first time.

“The first day we filmed that scene where Michelle’s character is on the toboggan and falls off the sled, and Ennis is with her – they’re laughing,” she told Out magazine, naming Heath’s character of Ennis Del Mar. “Well, on the third take, Michelle fell off the sled, and at the bottom of the hill she was crying. She’d twisted her knee, and we had to call someone to take her to the hospital.”

She continued: “Heath was not about to let her go alone, and as he was getting into the vehicle with her he was smoothing her hair back. I remember him looking at her, and she looking up at him with these wide eyes. She was almost startled by the attention he was giving her, but you could see it every day from thereon. For him it was truly love at first sight. He was so taken with her.”

The setting allowed the two actors, who would eventually welcome daughter Matilda in 2005, to get to know each other.

“It was an intimate project in that way. We’d wake up and make breakfast for each other, and hang out. Heath and Michelle fell in love. It was a really special, special time,” Jake Gyllenhaal told the publication.

Inspired by Heath and Michelle’s beautiful on-set romance – we take a look at the celebrities who have mixed business with pleasure and, not surprisingly, there’s a lot of them! We look at our top Hollywood romances that have blossomed on-set.

Kit Harington Rose Leslie

Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan Tatum recently celebrated their seventh wedding anniversary! A part from being one of Hollywood’s steamiest couples, the duo are the proud parents to daughter Everly.

No itch here! the duo danced their way into our hearts and stepping up for one hot romance, after meeting on the set of 2006 dance flick Step Up.

And clearly the passion is well and truly alive with Channing gushing, “This woman, 11 years together, 7 married. Happy anniversary Cake. Thank you baby I love you. Plus you look daaaaaaaaanmm!!!” And the feeling is mutual for his wife, who simply penned, “7 years ❤️” Check out Channing dish on their steamy sex life in the next slide!

Channing Tatum gets real about his sex life with Jenna Dewan

Game of Thrones fans everywhere rejoice! On Sunday March 3, Kit Harington and Rose Leslie made their first official red carpet debut as a couple at the Olivier Awards in London.

“I fell in love with my co-star,” Kit confessed on The Jonathan Ross Show, as a photo of the pair flashed across the screen. “This is Rose, who plays Ygritte, who I’ve met, who is just the loveliest girl and she could do so much better!”

Heath Ledger was completely besotted with Michelle Williams when they worked together on the iconic 2005 film, Brokeback Mountain.

The film’s screenwriter, Diana Ossana was one of the lucky ones that saw the moment Heath met Michelle, revealing: “For him it was truly love at first sight. He was so taken with her.” The pair were together from 2004–2007 and welcomed daughter Matilda in 2005. Tragically, Heath passed away in 2008 from an accidental overdose of prescription medicine.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt met on the set of their 2005 film Mr and Mrs Smith.

For years they denied they fell in love on set, as Brad was married to Jennifer Aniston at the time, but in 2008 Brad finally came clean and confessed while referencing their children getting to watch the film: “Not a lot of people get to see a movie where their parents fell in love.” The pair created one of the steamiest flicks of the year and in 2005 became the industry’s biggest power couple… Brangelina. They are now parents to six kids.

Brad’s ex-wife, Jennifer Aniston, had a string of failed romances after their hugely publicised divorce in 2005. But she bounced back when she worked with Justin Theroux on the set of the 2010 film, Wanderlust.

“I thought he was very sweet and he was always very nice. But I remember thinking he was very dark. At first you think he could be like a serial killer, but he is actually the nicest person in the world.” The pair announced their engagement in 2012 but are yet to tie the knot.

In 2000, Julia Roberts met cameraman, Danny Moder on the set of The Mexican, in which she starred alongside Brad Pitt. In a real life the Notting Hill actress, she once said: “He made me believe in myself in a whole brand-new way.” They married in 2002 and have three children together.

Golide Hawn and Kurt Russell… AKA the reigning couple of Hollywood met in 1984 on the set of Swing Shift and have been together ever since. The pair have never married but are more in love than ever.

Penelope Cruz oozes seduction so it’s no wonder that her Vicky Cristina Barcelona co-star, Javier Bardem fell in love with her. The pair wed in 2010 and have two children together.

Pivoting into Natalie Portman’s heart on the dance floor of Black Swan is Benjamin Millepied, who starred and choreographed the film. The gorgeous duo married in 2012 and welcomed son Aleph in 2011.

They are one of Tinseltown strongest couples… Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr., who met while working on the ’90s classic I know What You Did Last Summer. They married in 2002 and have two kids.

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds win the award for the funniest couple (seriously, go to their Instagram accounts). The parents to baby James met while filming Green Lantern and married in 2012.

Jackie and Michael from That 70’s Show made #relationship goals come true when actors Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher finally got together in real life. The pair made hearts melt when they had a baby girl, Wyatt, while it’s believed they secretly tied the knot earlier this month.

Honourable mention goes to The Notebook’s Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams.

They embodied Noah and Allie and were the dream couple… #NeverForget! Sadly, the pair split in 2007.

Chelsea Clinton: ‘I’m a very proud daughter’

Chelsea Clinton offers a warm and intimate portrait of her mother in a bid to build the American voter’s trust.

Chelsea Clinton might become a woman whose bragging rights will be having two presidents for parents.

On Thursday in the US the 36-year-old, who spent her childhood growing up in the White House, took to the stage of the National Democratic Convention in Philadelphia to pay tribute to her mother, and perhaps future president.

There have been a lot of issues discussed in the long lead up to America’s November election but in the end it might come down to trust – and Hilary is a presidential candidate that is struggling to connect with voters because of her perceived trustworthiness. It’s a weakness that the Republican Party has poked and prodded at since before the 68-year-old threw her hat in the ring.

So during her live address Hilary’s only child, Chelsea offered a packed crowd at the Wells Fargo Center a warm and deeply personal portrait of her mother.

“I am here as a proud American, a proud Democrat, a proud mother, and tonight in particular, a very, very proud daughter,” Chelsea said on the final night of the Democratic National Convention.

Hillary Clinton stepped on stage after being introduced by daughter Chelsea.

Sharing anecdotes about her “wonderful, thoughtful, hilarious mother” leaving sweet notes for her while overseas trying to understand problems of the world, Chelsea’s eyes were beaming with pride.

“People ask me all of the time ‘How does she do it, how does she keep going amid the sound and fury of politics?'” Chelsea said. “Here’s how, because she never, ever forgets who she is fighting for.”

Hillary Clinton tweeted an photo showing her and Bill Clinton holding their grandson Aidan when he was born in June 2016.

Chelsea also acknowledged Hillary’s own mother, Dorothy Rodham, the woman whom her mother, the former-First Lady moved into the White House to help raise her.

“Mum, Grandma would be so, so proud of you tonight,” Chelsea said.

Moments before taking to the stage herself Hillary Clinton tweeted a photo watching from backstage. The presidential hopeful said she was “so proud” of her daughter.

Earlier this week Chelsea Clinton took aim at her long-time friend Ivanka Trump during a live panel discussion with Glamour magazine.

Joined by fellow DNC speakers Lena Dunham and America Ferrera, Chelsea confronted Donald Trump’s eldest daughters claims about her father’s policy on equal pay.

Chelsea Clinton and Ivanka Trump during friendlier times in 2014.

Before introducing her father at the Republican Party’s Convention in Cleveland last week Ivanka said that her father had women’s rights in his sights.

“As president, my father will change the labour laws that were put in place at a time when women were not a significant portion of the workforce and he will focus on making quality childcare affordable and accessible for all,” Ivanka told a crowd of more than 20,000.

But when asked by Glamour’s editor-in-chief Cindy Leive about Ivanka’s comments regarding how her father “would fight for” equal pay Chelsea was very pointed in her response.

“I would ask, ‘How would your father do that?’” Chelsea tested. “Given it’s not something he’s spoken about, there are no policies on any of those fronts on his website, not last week, not this week. So I think the ‘how’ question is super important. In politics and in life.

She added: “So it really matters to me that my mum in this election consistently has told you how she’s going to do everything, whether that’s on gun control or protecting a woman’s right to choose … she also tells you how she’s going to pay for it.”

Bachelorettes Mia and Laura didn’t feel a connection with Richie

The eliminated Bachelorettes reveal the reason why it didn’t work out with the handsome rope technician.
Mia Laura

Thursday’s action-packed episode of The Bachelor Australia had the recipe for a romantic love story.

With helicopters, the show’s first kiss and a Woman’s Day shoot, the episode was rearing for the perfect fairytale… We imagine Janey was loving it!

While mansion-packed bachelorettes can’t wait to get to know the handsome rope technician, two of the ladies simply weren’t feeling the magic.

After Richie failed to present Mia and Laura with a rose, the eliminated ladies are revealing their thoughts on why it just didn’t work out with Mr. Cool Bananas.

“He is definitely not my type at all, he just didn’t do it for me,” Laura (R) admits.

LAURA – project manager, 25

Describe your Bachelor experience in three words.

Exciting, nerve-wracking and endearing!

Did you feel like you had an adequate amount of time to really get to know Richie?

I got enough for me. I got enough to realise that there wasn’t enough for us to continue on.

I didn’t feel a connection, and he wasn’t quite my type or my cup of tea so if I was to stay on, I’d be staying on for the wrong reasons.

Could you pick a favourite to win?

Alex or Nikki. Alex has the white rose and she seems quite smitten by him, and Nikki fits in with his lifestyle and she lives in the same state as him.

Have you moved on since leaving the show?

Yes actually, I’ve been dating my vending machine at work!

Mia (L) hopes to attain some modelling work after appearing on the show.

MIA – student/former athlete, 24

How would you describe the overall experience of The Bachelor?

I thought it was really great! Even though Richie and I weren’t compatible, I still made some really good, long-time friends.

Do you feel like Richie spent enough one-on-one time getting to know you?

We had a little chat about family, but I didn’t get a lot of one-on-one time. Everyone wanted the attention on our group date but I wasn’t going to be aggressive. If he wanted to talk to me that was fine, but if he didn’t then that was also fine.

Who do you think will win Richie’s heart?

I think it could be Nikki as she had the first date, and Alex definitely made an impression but she has a child and Richie wants to travel… so I don’t know.

What’s next for you?

I just finished my personal training course so I’m hoping to get a job in that soon, and hopefully I’ll get some opportunities in modelling or TV from the show.

Have you found love since the show?

I ended up back with my ex-partner, but we recently decided to take some time apart to figure out what’s next. Hopefully it works out!

Waitress fired over using the ‘N word’ in racist snapchat

“It’s just shocking, when you think you’ve made a connection with somebody,” Mayes said. “Especially the way times are right now, and there’s so much hate going on.”

Chelsea Mayes was enjoying a pleasant dinner with her friends on a Sunday evening at a Cheddar’s restaurant in Tennessee. They laughed, ate heartily and were served by a seemingly kind waitress who they tipped generously. But when Mayes arrived home she was met with a text message that tarnished the feel-good mood she was in.

Her friend had sent her a screenshot of a Snapchat image that contained a racial slur. Mayes immediately recognised the person behind the image. It was the same waitress who had served her and her friends dinner earlier that night.

“I’m so hung over and have a section full of n** right now,” the Snapchat selfie caption read.

Judging by the time it was sent out the twenty-two year old says there is no doubt it was directed at her group.

“It kind of just confused me,” she told The Independent. “If she felt this way the whole time, she could have easily done something to our food, done something to our drinks, and we never would have known.”

“It’s just shocking, when you think you’ve made a connection with somebody,” Mayes said. “Especially the way times are right now, and there’s so much hate going on.”

Rather than contributing to the hatred though, Mayes took to Facebook and penned a post which conceded that the world needs more love– particularly as racial tensions in the USA are at an all-time high. While the slur was hurtful, Mayes says she refuses to stoop to the waitress’ level.

“This ‘n—–‘ is pretty nice,” she wrote on her profile. “This ‘n—–‘ actually enjoyed your company. This ‘n—–‘ is praying for you. This ‘n—–‘ loves you and there isn’t anything you can do about it.”

The waitress has since been fired. Mayes has extended an invitation for her to attend church alongside her family and get “a different outlook” on black Americans.

We are family: Stars who have used surrogates

There are many ways to make a family, especially in Hollywood!
Nicole Kidman

There are many ways to make a family, especially in Hollywood!

For these stars, the road to parenthood was far more complex and challenging than they ever could have imagined.

“We really had thought it through financially, emotionally, relationship-wise. We didn’t just accidentally get pregnant. These kids come into our world with nothing but love,” Neil Patrick Harris revealed of his much-longed for children, daughter Harper and son Gideon, who he welcomed with husband David Burtka via a surrogate in 2010.

Meanwhile Hunger Games star Elizabeth Banks, who welcomed two children via a gestational carrier, is eternally grateful for her experiences.

“There’s lots of ways of being a mother. You have to listen to your heart in this situation. There are many paths to having a family. I’ve always said I could be a mum. There are lots of babies out there that need love,” Elizabeth has mused.

In February, model Tyra Banks confirmed she and her partner Erik Asla became first-time parents with the help of a surrogate and are now overjoyed with their newborn son York.

“We are so excited for our new baby boy bundle of joy. The journey to now has not been an easy process, as I’ve shared before. But there was a beautiful bright light at the end of the tunnel for me and his father, Erik,” Tyra said in her statement.

After overcoming breast cancer, Sally Obermeder was told that having a baby could mark the return of the disease she fought so hard to beat. But the TV personality has just announced she’s expecting her second child with her husband Marcus via surrogacy! “Thrilled to bits to share that @marcusobermeder and I are adding to our family thanks to the most incredible surrogate,” the beloved star said.

“I would give my life for the woman who helped me bring my sons into this world,” Ricky Martin said of his surrogate, who gifted the star his two twin sons, Matteo and Valentino, in 2008.

Although he’s never officially confirmed it and vows to forever guard the truth, it’s widely reported that soccer pro Cristiano Ronaldo used a gestational carrier to welcome his mini-me son, also named Cristiano. “it is with great joy and emotion that I inform I have recently become father to a baby boy. As agreed with the baby’s mother, who prefers to have her identity kept confidential, my son will be under my exclusive guardianship,” the sports star explained in a statement back in 2010.

And now we have a gorgeous baby girl,” actress Ellen Pompeo gushed of her second daughter, Sienna May Pompeo Ivery.

Giuliana and Bill Rancic’s long road to parenthood was well-documented on their hit reality TV show, Giuliana and Bill. After several failed attempts at IVF and the 41-year-old’s battle with breast cancer, the couple turned to a gestational carrier. They welcomed Edward Duke Rancic in 2012 and they’ve never looked back. “She never had any trouble getting pregnant and she just wanted to help, to make a difference for parents who couldn’t do this on their own,” Bill has mused of their treasured surrogate, Delphine.

Morning after pill could be less effective in women over 75kgs

Your last-minute lifeline of the morning-after pill might not be as effective as you think.

Your last-minute lifeline of the morning-after pill might not be as effective as you think. New research into emergency contraception suggests that the morning-after pill is less effective in women who weigh more than 74.8 kilos.

The contraceptive pill that’s made from the hormone levonorgestrel, which prevents ovulation, is found to become less effective after the 74.8 kilo mark- and is said to not work at all for women weighing more than 79 kilos.

This information was put on the back of the European-made pill Norlevo’s packet in 2013, and a new study led by Alison Edelman, a professor at the Oregon Health and Science University, U.S, found that it takes a higher dosage of the drug to raise the obese women’s hormone level to that of the women of normal weight.

Edelman’s study involved 10 women between the ages of 18 and 35, five of which were considered ‘normal weight’ and five of which were considered ‘obese,’ according to the BMI measure. When obese women were given one dose of levonorgestrel-based emergency contraception, the amount of the hormone measured in their bloodstream was 50% lower than other women’s.

Although, don’t worry as the team did have a breakthrough moment when they doubled the dose for obese women; Edelman told Women’s Health Mag that: “By doubling the dose, we doubled the level of levonorgestrel observed in the bloodstream.” “We were surprised and pleased to see that we were able to compensate for [the effect of obesity] by doubling the dose,” says Edelman.

When asked whether overweight women could just take two pills if they needed to, Edelman replied: ‘As a clinical provider, I would love to tell you yes,’ she continues, “As a researcher, it’s not something we can recommend yet.”

Elizabeth Westley, director of the International Consortium of Emergency Contraception, tells Women’s Health: “What we need now are some bigger studies that look at whether the higher dose of levonorgestrel is effective at preventing ovulation in heavier women.”

Maybe this is a big-enough signifier to drug companies of the changing times, and how women’s bodies are unapologetically growing upwards and outwards and society just needs to catch up, accept and adapt toward this.

This Kmart has ridiculously high security for chocolate

Shoppers with a sweet-tooth have forced this Melbourne store to take some very extreme steps in the name of (chocolate) security!

A Kmart store in Melbourne’s north has been forced to take some pretty radical steps in the name of security, after sweet-toothed shoppers refused to stop opening packets of Cadbury chocolate during their weekly shop.

All blocks of Cadbury at the Bundoora store are locked in individual security cases. They can only be unlocked by staff once the order is processed at the checkout.

The measures were introduced because too many half-eaten packets were left behind by customers looking for a snack while they shopped, security told News.com.au.

Apparently no other brands have the same kind of casing, so it’s clear what kind of chocolate visitors a the Summerhill Shopping Centre complex prefer!

#WeWearWhatWeWant: Plus-size women hit back at body shamers on social media

The #WeWearWhatWeWant campaign is an antidote to the abuse plus-size women were getting on social media for wearing outfits deemed “unacceptable” for larger women.

Plus sized model Simone Mariposa, has hit back at body shamers by starting a social media campaign that encouragers plus-sized women to wear whatever they like.

The #WeWearWhatWeWant campaign is an antidote to the abuse plus-size women were getting on social media for wearing outfits deemed “unacceptable” for larger women.

The 23-year-old, who Instagrams as ‘wise young fattie’ encouraged her 36.7k social media followers to post selfies, using the hashtag.

She tweeted: “Showing skin isn’t exclusive to smaller girls. It’s okay for a plus-size women to let her body breath in her clothing. Stop making it ‘unacceptable’ for plus women to wear clothes that show skin.”

So far thousands of women have shared their favourite outfits using the hashtag.

Speaking to the Huffington Post, Mariposa said that she wanted to give plus-sized women a voice.

“The story of the plus-size woman isn’t commonly addressed because we are often made to feel subhuman,” she said.

“But with powerful hashtags like this, we are given a voice that no one can ignore.I find it important to highlight plus women being free and fabulous with their wardrobes because we live in a society that constantly polices our bodies.

“Plus-size women are constantly told to cover up, not because we look bad in revealing clothing, but because of people’s personal lack of comfort.”

Since the start of the campaign plus-sized women have started to share stories of times they were shamed for wearing certain items of clothing.

“Plus size doesn’t mean ugly. Plus size doesn’t mean unhealthy. Plus size doesn’t mean I’m lazy. Plus size doesn’t mean I only eat junk food. Plus size doesn’t mean my life means less than anyone else.” Wrote one Instagram user.

“Last night I gained the ladyballs to wear a top like this in public. Empowering,” said another.
