Mariah Carey is getting candid about her divorce from Nick Cannon.
“I never thought I would have babies with someone and then get divorced. Like, ‘Oh, great job. Repeat your past,'” the 46-year-old singer said of her 2014 split from Nick, 35, with whom she has five-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe.
“But life happens. And it was supposed to happen. It’s fine. For [my kids], I wish it hadn’t happened that way. For me, it was… too much, too little, too late. Guess it’s over. Call it a day,” Mariah recently told Complex magazine.
The “We Belong Together” songstress and Nick wed in April 2008 and finalised their divorce in April 2015. In January 2016, Mariah — who was previously married to Tommy Mottola from 1993 until 1997 — announced her engagement to billionaire James Packer.
It’s been a big day for one Aussie bloke who bought a couple of tickets in a raffle last month during his lunch break, trying his luck at a once-in-a-lifetime proposition. Overnight he has become the proud owner of a tropical resort on the Micronesian island of Kosrae– all after another Aussie family decided to give it away.
Doug Beitz and his wife, Sally, moved to Kosrae in 1994 with four kids in tow, after getting tired of their desk jobs and ready to try something new. In the 20 years following they managed to grow a successful business overlooking a spectacular waterfront and ancient ruins, living the kind of life most could only dream about. But the birth of their first grandchild had them yearning to move back to Australia and be closer to family.
Rather than sell it off, they wanted to pass the resort onto someone who could start off like they did: with no hospitality experience but passion in spades. That’s when the idea of selling raffle tickets to takeover the business was sparked.
Fast-forward to today, where raffle winner James* from Wollongong, has been passed the reigns of the Beitz’s 16-room resort and scuba diving business– no strings attached, news.com.au reports.
“What started as a simple click of a news article during my lunch break that piqued my interest has resulted in a life-changing experience that I could only dream of,” James* told news.com.au.
“I look forward to working with Doug, his family and the amazing staff to learn about the ins and outs of the business and to continue its success long into the future.”
Hopefuls from over 150 countries entered the raffle for their shot at owning a piece of paradise, purchasing tickets for $AU66.
No doubts a lot of people are regretting not throwing our names in the ring now!
“He’s a little boy now,” a family friend tells People.
Determined to raise their first-born just like any other child, Duchess Catherine and Prince William are doing a spectacular job with locals telling the publication the three-year-old already has impeccable manners.
A witness reveals that George’s charming etiquette was put on display when Duchess Catherine took him to a cafe near their Anmer Hall home in Norfolk recently.
“Kate said to George, ‘Ask the nice lady what you would like to have.’ And George said, ‘Excuse me nice lady, but can I have’… and pointed to a cake on the counter,” the onlooker recounts of the adorable moment.

Meanwhile the People cover story has also shed light on George’s carefree nature, with a source describing a particularly hilarious phone call while William and Catherine were away on their royal tour of India and Bhutan.
People claim George asked his parents on the phone if “Mummy” was home yet and when he found out she was still overseas, he simply chirped “Okay, bye!” Before hanging up the phone.
The curious young royal is said to adore heading to the park to play on the fire truck and zip around on his scooter.
However, life at Norfolk certainly isn’t permanent with the Cambridge clan indebted to their royal duties. Just this week, it was announced that William and Catherine will embark on their second royal tour for the year, with the couple set to visit Canada.
“The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will visit Canada this autumn at the invitation of the Canadian Government. TRH hold very happy memories from their last visit to Canada in 2011 – their first overseas tour as a married couple,” the announcement explained.

Speculation has already mounted as to whether they’ll bring along Prince George and Princess Charlotte. Although they didn’t bring them to India earlier in the year, George did accompany them on their tour of Australia and New Zealand in 2014.
As for how long the family of four will be able to live at Anmer Hall is reportedly up to The Queen to decide.
“The moment that [Prince] Charles becomes King, it’s over. William will definitely have to come down to London and Kate too,” royal historian Robert Lacey tells People.
The highly-anticipated revival of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life is coming to Netflix on November 25th.
It was announced on Wednesday that the four, 90-minute episodes titled Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall, will be available to watch in just under four months.
And judging by the hilarious new trailer that dropped overnight, it would appear we’re in for a serious treat!

The new clip takes us right back to good old days of Rory, played by Alexis Bledel and Lorelai, played by Lauren Graham, sitting around a kitchen table with a cup of tea and Pop-Tarts, speed-talking about the important things in life.
“Do you think Amy Schumer would like me?” Lorelai asks her daughter, seemingly out of nowhere.
When Rory predictably replies with a flat “no”, the young-at-heart mother quips back, “Why? It’s not like I’m perpetually armed, or at sundown I turn into one of those vampires with no sense of humour, or I have that plant strapped to me that blooms every year and smells disgusting.”
After some familiar bickering, the two finally come to the conclusion that the comedian would not get along with Lorelai due to their opposing opinions on water sports – which Rory assumes is a passion of Amy’s as she’s always pictured indulging in some water-related adventure while she’s on holidays.
“Oh no… that would not work at all,” the defeated mum agreed, shuddering at the thought of a jet ski.
And it didn’t take long for Amy to weigh in!
Settling the debate once and for all, the 35-year-old wrote on Twitter, “I would love her!”
“I’ve only done 2 water sports, and they took pictures of it both times. I promise I usually just lay there (sex too),” the Trainwreck actress joked.
Cast members to join Rory and Lorelai in the four-part reboot include Sookie St. James (Melissa McCarthy), Paris Geller (Liza Weil), Dean Forester (Jared Padalecki), Milo Ventimiglia (Jess Mariano) Christopher Hayden (David Sutcliffe) and Emily Gilmore (Kelly Bishop), who’s now a widower.
The much-loved original series ran for seven years from 2000 to its final episode in 2007.

When parents observe shyness in their child, they may wonder if it is normal or cause for concern. For instance, in social situations, the child may cling to their parent, be hesitant to speak, reluctant to interact with others, and play alone when in groups more often than other children their age.
Shyness is of more concern if it is persistent rather than temporary. Some children are “slow to warm up” or engage with others, but do engage well after initial hesitancy. Also, some children grow out of shyness during primary school. However, other children demonstrate persistent shyness over time.
Shyness with other children is of more concern than shyness with adults. It is common for children to be wary of adults, particularly men, but less common for children to be wary of children around their own age.
Shyness is of concern if it results in playing alone when in groups of children. When children engage in interaction with peers they learn skills that serve as a foundation for normal development, such as how to understand other people’s feelings and perspectives, take turns in play and conversation, negotiate a mutually enjoyable joint activity, reciprocate friendly overtures and express their point of view in a way that is acceptable to others.
Children who engage in very little social interaction in comparison to children their age are missing out on these important, cumulative learning experiences. As a result, their social cognition, social skills and sense of self may be less mature than those of other children their age.
Shyness and making friends
Shyness with familiar social partners is of more concern than shyness with strangers. It is of particular concern if children are shy with other children their own age they see regularly, such as childcare or school classmates. Shyness with familiar classmates suggests children may be worried about how other kids treat them, or whether they will be liked and accepted.
Shyness is of more concern if a child is poorly treated by other children than if a shy child is well treated by other children. Shy children are more likely than other children to be excluded and victimised by kids their own age and to have trouble making friends. Being excluded and victimised are damaging to children’s emotional health and sense of self, especially when these conditions persist over time.
Although shyness tends to be equally prevalent in boys and girls, shy boys sometimes encounter more difficulties with friends than shy girls. This is probably because shyness is a violation of norms for males to be bold and self-assertive. However, it is important to keep in mind both shy boys and girls can encounter peer exclusion and victimisation.
What you can do
Children need help from adults to stop exclusion and victimisation by other children. When parents become aware their child is being excluded or victimised by other children at childcare or school, they should contact the childcare centre or school to advocate on their child’s behalf.
Shyness is of concern if it interferes with your child’s or family’s routines or activities, or if your child often appears miserable or complains of being lonely. For instance, if shyness prevents your child from attending other children’s birthday parties or school, or prevents your family from visiting friends, then you should consider seeking help from a child psychologist.
Online programs to help children and parents cope with child shyness and anxiety are starting to become available and provide convenient help for a lower cost (Brave Online, Cool Kids Online).
Parents can also do many things themselves to help their shy child. They can arrange play dates and help the child join a group extracurricular activity. Parents can also talk to children about their friendships and act as a sympathetic source of encouragement and constructive ideas.
If a child is upset about a problem with a friend, parents can encourage the child to try to resolve the problem in a way that preserves the friendship, instead of ending the friendship, as well as encourage the child to develop other friendships.

It’s set to be a busy year of travel for Prince William and Duchess Catherine as they enjoy a well-deserved family holiday before heading off to Canada later this year for an official royal tour.
After a busy few months for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, the doting parents have decided to whisk Prince George and Princess Charlotte off for a lovely summer holiday.
Prince William and Duchess Catherine boarded a private Cessna plane with the children to take them for a much needed break.
The plane, worth $15 million, belongs to a family friend, the Duke of Westminster.
According to a French newspaper, on their arrival, the royals were greeted by a full security detail, including royal protection officers and a group of Scotland Yard personnel.
They were apparently swiftly ushered into two waiting blacked-out Range Rovers that were registered in William’s name.
It isn’t known whether the royal nanny, Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo, was accompanying Prince George and Princess Charlotte on the trip, or if it was just for the family.
Local publications reported that the family of four were visiting France to drop in on friends and relatives in the country.
The last time the couple visited France, it was a somber occasion. Watch Prince William and Duchess Catherine pay their respects at Somme, then post continues.
The French countryside has always held a warm place in Kate and Wills’ hearts, and the couple took their first holiday as a family of four their earlier this year.
The 34-year-old parents had a ball with Charlotte and George, laughing and playing in the snow of the French Alps.
Meanwhile, the well-travelled couple have just announced they’ve accepted an invitation to visit Canada for their next royal tour.
This will be their second tour of the country, with the parents of two having visited previously in 2011. The exact date has not yet been confirmed.
The palace tweeted: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will visit Canada this autumn at the invitation of the Canadian Government. TRH hold very happy memories from their last visit to Canada in 2011 – their first overseas tour as a married couple.”
“The Duke and Duchess look forward to exploring more of Canada, from British Columbia to the territory of Yukon, when they return this autumn.”
In a statement, Canadian Governor General David Johnston said, “Sharon and I will be delighted to welcome Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to Canada.
“Their royal tour will take them to the beautiful province of British Columbia and the scenic territory of Yukon. Once again, our true Canadian pride and spirit will shine and be at the very heart of this visit so they can feel at home.”
Speculation has already mounted as to whether they’ll bring along their two children. Although they didn’t bring George and Charlotte to India earlier in the year, George did accompany them on their tour of Australia and New Zealand in 2014.

A version of this was first published on Woman’s Day.
Hillary Clinton has made history as the first female presidential nominee of any major American political party, and the stars are out in full-force to cheer her on.
Hollywood sure loves a powerful woman, and never has it been more apparent than today as Hillary Clinton makes history as the first female presidential nominee of any major American political party.
Stars as diverse as Alan Cumming, Connie Britton, Jane Fonda, Jaime King, Julie Bower, Idina Menzel, Eva Longoria and many more, released a rendition of chart-topper ‘Fight Song’ today to celebrate the Democratic presidential candidate’s success.
The song was played during the Democratic National Convention. It has, of course, since gone viral.
Actress Elizabeth Banks was behind the project, one of many A-listers hoping to use their platform to encourage Americans to vote #1 for Clinton.
The message behind the song is to never give up even when the odds are stacked against you, so it’s no doubt also a message they’re hoping will empower Clinton further as the race heats up.
Last night’s premiere episode of The Bachelor saw a whole lotta sequins, drama, interrupting and some admittedly awkward singing.
Landing in third place in the race for Sam Frost’s heart clearly didn’t deter the handsome rope technician, who stood with confidence of a cool banana as he met the 22 hopefuls ready to battle it out for his heart.
Australia collectively cheered with joy as the glorious Richie Strahan graced our television screens once more, but there was one lady who simply wasn’t falling under the Bachelor’s irresistible spell.
Within the first minute of meeting the dapper 30-year-old, Queensland-based massage therapist Vintaea decided to walk out of the rose ceremony, without even waiting around for the chance to collect her free rose/snack (ahem Sasha, we’re looking at you).
Woman’s Day caught up with the brunette beauty, along with the other two eliminated women, to find out what really went down in the Bachelor mansion.

VINTAEA – massage therapist, 25
Did you know instantly that Richie wasn’t right for you?
Yes. I knew when I first met him that he wouldn’t have the personality to be able to handle mine.
How did you come to the decision to leave the show?
It was pretty simple, I just knew immediately that he wasn’t for me and I didn’t want to waste my time or his time staying on a show that I went on to find love. So I made the decision, straight away, to leave.
Since leaving The Bachelor, have you met anyone special?
No.
It’s still early days, but which girl do you think is right for Richie and why?
Nikki is a clear favourite. Her personality matches his and you could tell straight away the both Nikki and Richie were keen on each other.
AIMEE – business development manager, 31
What are your feelings towards Richie at this point?
I think he is a lovely person and I hope he finds the person he is looking for. I wish him all the best in doing that!
Did he give you any indication of what kind of girls he likes?
I think the kind of girl he likes is definitely someone a little more adventurous, based on the fact that he pointed out that we don’t have common ground as I’m scared of heights and he has no idea about numbers!
Is there anyone from the show you’re happy to say goodbye to and why?
Maybe… but at the end of the day I wasn’t around for long enough so I didn’t need to worry about that too much.
What would you say was your lowest moment on the show?
The long hours and being surrounded by people who were younger.
Who do you think is going to win?
Nikki, I think she is his type.
NATALIE – communications officer, 27
What was your first impression of Richie?
I thought he seemed like a really genuine gentleman – a little bit awkward and nervous, but a really nice guy.
If you had your time over in the house, would you do anything differently?
I think I would have taken a step back in terms of just taking it all in. It feels a little surreal. I would have probably made sure I breathed a little more and spoke a little less. I kind of wish I got to know Richie outside of a dress and makeup.
Do you still believe in love?
Of course!
From your experience in the mansion, can you pick a favourite to win?
Nikki. I feel like she is his type of girl. She is genuinely lovely, stunning and I feel like they would complement each other quite well.

How’s this for a quirky coincidence? A father has taken to website Reddit to share a spooky prediction photo of his toddler son as an elderly man.
The man came across the snap-worthy moment when doing his weekly shop at a Costco store in Indiana. He spotted an older gentleman wearing a green polo shirt and checkered shorts– that looked almost identical to the pair worn by his little boy.
‘I guess I know what my son will look like in 70 years…,’ the father captioned the memorable image.
Some reddit users were quick to jump on the time-travel bandwagon, wondering if this was proof of a hole in the space-time continuum. Others just took the photo at face value, enjoying it as a reminder of the inevitable but wondrous circle of life.
We just wish they had been wearing matching shoes too!
Bill Spedding, a man once identified as a person of interest in the disappearance of William Tyrrell, is now facing historical child sex charges in Victoria.
Bill Spedding, a man once identified as a person of interest in the disappearance of William Tyrrell, is now facing historical child sex charges in Victoria.
According to reports, William ‘Bill’ Harrie Spedding of Bonny Hills is expected to front Ballarat Magistrates Court today to face five charges of indecent assault and two of sexual intercourse with a child under 10 years old.
According to the SMH the alleged offences date back to the 1980s and relate to a girl Mr Spedding knew.
Spedding, 65, has previously been questioned by police investigating the disappearance of three-year-old William, but has always denied any involvement.
In 2015 Mr Spedding, a white goods repair man, took to releasing a video statement on YouTube where he insisted he was innocent and expressed his sadness for the Tyrrell family over the toddler’s disappearance.
“I wish to state that I have had no involvement whatsoever in the disappearance of William Tyrrell,” he said in the September 2015 video.
William Tyrrell was last seen wearing a Spiderman costume on Friday, September 12 at 10.30am as he played with his sister in the front yard of their grandmother’s home on Beneroon Drive, Kendall.
Spedding became connected to the Tyrrell case after it was revealed he had been in touch with William’s grandmother about fixing her broken washing machine.
This September will mark two years since William vanished.
Anyone with information about William Tyrrell, is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
