The North Korean media has been plugging out stories encouraging people to eat dog meat in recent months, channel DPRK Today suggesting the meat was good for the intestines and stomach and contained more vitamins than beef or chicken.
Yep, they’re promoting it as a stamina-inducing superfood.
Oh, and according to the Korea Times, the dog should be beaten to death and its fur removed before being scorched to improve its taste.
Radio broadcaster Tongil Voice described dog stew as the “finest medicine”.
In neighbouring South Korea, many animal activists have protested about this practice of butchery.

The talk show host has spoken out after the controversial use of a sporting meme, which sparked an outpour of backlash from fans accusing her of racism.
Ellen DeGeneres found herself in hot water this week following a photoshopped meme of herself and Olympian Usain Bolt.
The image in question, taken by Aussie photographer Cameron Spencer, shows the athlete flashing the camera a smile while sprinting strides ahead of his opponents in the 100m men’s sprint.
Ellen and her team altered this image to show the host riding on his back, with the caption, “This is how I’m running my errands from now on.”
The intended joke immediately began to receive an influx of backlash from Twitter users, calling out the 58-year-old for being “racist” and “insensitive”.
“You thought it’d be funny to post a pic of yourself riding on the back of a Black man? Nope. Delete this racist garbage,” wrote one disgruntled user while another simply said, “This is utterly f–king ridiculous. How dare you!?!?”
Others were quick to stand up for the beloved comedian, pointing out the fact that she has been nothing but supportive in her active fight against discrimination.
Finally, the Finding Dory star took to Twitter once more; not to apologise, but to defend herself.
“I am highly aware of the racism that exists in our country,” she tweeted. “It is the furthest thing from who I am.”
Usain, who is clearly unoffended by the meme due to his decision to retweet it, went on win gold after crossing the finish line in 9.81 seconds.
His win went down in the history books as he became the only person to claim first place in the event for the third consecutive time.

A $4 million oceanfront mansion in Sydney’s swanky suburb of Freshwater is being given away in a bid to raise money for veterans in an RSL Lottery.
The luxurious four bedroom property, valued at $3.8 million, is the major prize in an RSL Art Union raffle with tickets going on sale today from just $5.
More than two million raffle tickets have been made available on the RSL Art Union website and punters are allowed to enter as many times as they like.
It is fitting that this house’s changing of hands should benefit veterans as the property’s history is steeped in service.
According to The Daily Telegraph, “the land was bought for 50 pounds in 1906 by Laura Faviell who served as a nurse during the First World War. Her son David fought in World War II and later joined the merchant navy. He married Rita — a German refugee — who lived in the house until she was 98 and became something of a local personality.”
The lucky winner of the lottery could pick up the keys in early October and move in with their first 12 months of rates and water already paid for.

Psychologists Satoshi Kanazawa of the London School of Economics and Norman Li of Singapore Management Universities have noticed two massive trends when it comes to people’s IQ levels and social interactions.
The study, published in the British Journal of Psychology looked into the data of of 15,000 adults aged 18 to 28 and they discovered that people with higher IQ’s are less satisfied the more time they spend with friends.
‘The effect of population density on life satisfaction was therefore more than twice as large for low-IQ individuals than for high-IQ individuals. And more intelligent individuals were actually less satisfied with life if they socialized with their friends more frequently.’
Which makes sense, perhaps if you’re more focused on a higher goal or objective in your career you would prefer to spend time focusing on this than in large social situations? That’s not to say that overly intelligent people can’t or won’t enjoy socialising – they just maybe prefer to have more time to themselves to focus their thoughts.

Since the German sports star’s injury, very little information has been released from his camp.
Michael’s wife of 21 years, Corinna Schumacher, has adapted their home in Switzerland for Michael and has a team of doctors and nurses working around the clock.
In November 2014, the sporting legend’s good pal and fellow race champion Philippe Streiff, who is also in a wheelchair, said: “He is getting better but everything is relative. It’s very difficult. He can’t speak. Like me, he is in a wheelchair paralysed. He has memory problems and speech problems.”
Meanwhile, in May this year the father-of-two’s manager Sabine Kehm said that they are still holding out hope for his recovery.
“Of course, Michael is not here and of course we miss him. We know what has happened and cannot change it.”
“We must accept it and hope with everything that we have that with continued support and patience he will one day be back with us.”

Both Chelsey and Ryan appeared super surprised, with one guest even saying “Who’s this guy?” as he walked up and interrupted the photo session.
The 35-year-old Grammy winner then took the time to shake the groom’s hand, offer his congratulations to the happy couple, and pose for a few snaps.
