The evolution of Margot Robbie

From Neighbours babe to fully-fledged fashionista, we take a look at Margot Robbie's Hollywood evolution.
Margot Robbie

She’s the Australian beauty making waves in Hollywood, but like many stars from Down Under, Margot Robbie made her humble start on Neighbours.

Before she had every designer in Tinseltown fighting to dress her, the actress’ style had to start somewhere – and that somewhere wasn’t at Chanel.

The star admits that the ’60s are her favourite decade for “the music, the fashion, the clothes, the hair”, and this passion clearly influences her style choices.

While we think Margot looks good in anything, she certainly has revolutionised her aesthetic over the years to transform from Neighbours babe to fully-fledged fashionista.

Click though the gallery for a look at Margot Robbie’s Hollywood style evolution!

Margot, pictured here with her then-Neighbours co star Dean Geyer, sported a seriously sassy gown for the 2009 TV Week Logie Awards.

Donning a tiny nose stud, the starlet opted for a baby pink and white frock for the 2009 Australian Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards.

Of course, like most of us at one point or another, Margot went through a Dove Summer Glow phase.

It was a very bronzed time for the starlet.

Opting for a floral summer dress, the star made one of her first appearances in the US.

But she really put herself on the map at the 2013 Vanity Fair Oscar Party.

The New York City premiere of The Wolf of Wall Street was one of Margot’s defining Hollywood moments, and boy did she shine in this one-shouldered white gown. Find out the star’s secret to her flawless New York accent in the next slide!

Then, of course, there was that time she channeled the dancing girl emoji in this show-stopping red number.

The Aussie beauty proved her edgy side in a lace-paneled jumpsuit at the 2014 Critics’ Choice Movie Awards.

Margot displayed a much darker side at the 2014 Oscars.

Which just goes to show, that there’s really nothing she can’t pull off!

In May 2014, the star arrived for a dinner to celebrate the work of The Royal Marsden hosted by Prince William at Windsor Castle. Is this the night she met Prince Harry!?

The 26-year-old made a slow transition back to blonde by taking a pit stop on the ginger train! Her fiery look perfectly complimented this gorgeous geometric dress.

And soon enough, she was back to her roots.

The star looked every bit as glamorous for the 2015 Academy Awards in deep plunge, black gown with a statement red lip.

We weren’t sure if this was our Aussie export, or an angel sent from heaven to grace the 2016 Oscars red carpet.

Margot turned heads in this drop-dead gorgeous, figure-hugging gown at the 2016 Met Gala .

But it was this Japanese-inspired Gucci kimono that had fashionistas everywhere saying “slay.”

Then, of course, there was that time Margot made pyjamas look like couture while chatting to Jimmy Kimmel.

The Aussie stunner stole the red carpet at the London premiere of Tarzan in a silver embellished Miu Miu naked dress.

And she looked equally as pretty in pink on the Suicide Squad promotional tour, taking some style advice from Dorothy with those statement red pumps!

The bombshell gave us total style envy in this monochromatic combo while spotted on the streets of NYC.

And channeled her Suicide Squad character Harley Quinn in this edgy number.

It’s true, no matter what she wears, the actress can simply do no wrong. Find out how Margot keeps her face youthful and glowing in the next slide!

Duchess Catherine is the most popular British identity for American tourists

The Duchess of Cambridge is the British person most Americans would like to meet!
Duchess Catherine

Prince William’s wife has just topped the list of beloved Brits that American travellers would like to meet one day.

When people think London, their minds jump to royalty and castles with Buckingham Palace being on most people’s to-do lists.

With that in mind, it will come to no surprise the ruler of all the kingdoms (within the British Monarch), Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth features on the list, coming up in the second spot right behind the Duchess.

We totally understand why the Duchess is such a popular choice… After all, how many real life Princesses do you know?

With her funny sense of humour, beauty and kindness – we can see why Kate is adored by our friends across the pond.

Her magnificent Majesty comes in the second spot.

Travel website Hotels.com conducted the telling research, unveiling that the top five figures Americans most want to meet are women.

Making the world just that little bit more magical, Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling followed the Queen.

Surprisingly, for the land that brought us the queen of girlbands, not one Spice Girl made the cut.

Instead pop royalty Adele came in the fourth spot with Oscar winner Kate Winslet slotting in right behind her!

It was a female only list but, if you ask us, we’d give honourable mentions for cheeky Prince George and his charming uncle Prince Harry.

Rounding out the list is JK Rowling, Adele and Kate Winslet.

Of course we think George would be a delight to meet.

How do you know for sure your kid is not an online sexual predator?

Considering that it could be your child spreading graphic images of non-consenting girls and women is the first step to making sure it’s not.

Let me tell you something about online sexual predators and trolls. They are regular people. It seems hard to believe, right? That someone who asks for ‘box shots’ of underage girls (a quote from the Australian pornography site) is a regular person? That someone who writes ‘My brother and mates gangbanged her…’ (a quote from Blokes Advice) is a regular person? That someone who calls me a ‘c**t* or a ‘slut’ just for writing an opinion piece is a regular person?

Well, let me surprise you. They are regular people.

Online sexual predators and trolls look no different to any other human males. I tracked a few down in last year’s #endviolenceagainstwomen, and found that these were men with jobs, wives, children, even daughters.

Similarly, the boys and young men involved in the hideous school pornography ring don’t look like criminals. They would look like any other kid.

You know why? They are any kid.

As parents/grandparents/friends, we are sure our kids are different to the others. Our boys won’t join a site that shares underage porn. Our boys won’t look at pictures of underage girls on the internet. Our boys won’t share naked photos of their girlfriends with their friends, who in turn will share them on the internet. Our boys won’t do that because….

Well, they’re our kids.

But you know what? Each kid using that porno site is someone’s son. They are someone’s grandson. They are someone’s nephew. They might be yours. Are you sure they’re not? And until you can at least ask yourself that question, you are closing your eyes to this growing problem.

Now, let me make this clear. Violence against women, in real life and online – and this includes sexual shaming and non-consensual pornography – is the fault of the perpetrators. It is never the fault of the victims, and it is not the fault of the women in the perpetrators’ lives.

But as women – as mothers/grandparents/aunts/friends – we can help to address the problem. We can be part of the solution, by teaching our boys not to be part of the problem.

  • Recognise this is not your girls’ problem. It is not up to girls to change their behaviour. It is not up to girls to dress differently/act differently/never take a selfie again. This problem requires change on the part of males.

  • Be sure your kids understand consent, including the consensual sharing of images.

  • Be sure your kids understand that sharing images of underage girls is child pornography.

  • Be sure your kids understand that sharing private sexual images of any female without her consent is a form of sexual assault. Be sure they understand that even ‘liking’ those images is contributing to the degradation, humiliation and invasion of privacy of that victim. It is contributing to that assault.

  • Explain to your kids how evil flourishes. It is not enough anymore to turn a blind eye. It is not enough anymore to say ‘It wasn’t me’. If your kids don’t take a stand when they know violence is occurring, if they don’t call out the perpetrators of sexual violence, then they are complicit.

  • Be aware of what your boys are doing online. Yes, kids are entitled to a certain degree of privacy, but no, they are not entitled to unconditional privacy. Not when this sort of violence and sexual shaming is so prevalent. Be involved. Ask questions. Know your kids’ friends. Know what they are looking at. Do you think the families of the sons involved in the pornography ring knew their kids were involved? No. Of course not. But can you be sure what yours are doing?

  • Have the conversation. Have the conversation again. Keep having the conversation. It may not be your kid. It is probably not your kid. But please remember. It could be your kid. Stay alert.

The explosive new trailer for the JonBenét Ramsey series is here

The Case of JonBenét Ramsey will see investigators try to solve one of the most intriguing murder mysteries of all time.
Loading the player...

On Boxing Day this year, it will officially mark 20 years since child beauty queen JonBenét Ramsey was violently killed in her family’s basement.

Still to this day, the events of that tragic day remain unsolved while the case has had over 140 suspects linked to it.

Now a new docu-series, The Case of JonBenét Ramsey, will see investigators revisit the death of the six-year-old child in a bid to find answers.

In a sign of what is set to come out of the CBS production, the trailer features the chilling phone call JonBenét Ramsey’s mother Patsy made on the night of her daughter’s murder on 24 December 1996.

The new clip – which was released earlier this week – shows experts planning to further analyse Patsy’s call using new technology to strip back the audio and reveal a conversation that happened when the Ramseys thought the call had been disconnected.

The new docu-series on JonBenet is tipped to be as popular as Making A Murderer.

The 911 operator who took the call also features in the trailer and tearfully maintains she’s never been questioned by authorities.

“Twenty years, nobody asked me,” the operator says. “I think it would have really turned the case around.”

The docu-series is being tipped to be as popular as Netflix’s Making A Murderer.

The trailer for the documentary screens Patsy’s frantic 911 call to the police.

Fascination to the case has garnered even more attention after it was confirmed JonBenét’s older brother Burke will give his first ever interview, which is set to be aired in September.

His three-part interview with Dr. Phil promises to “reveal what he knows about his sister’s mysterious murder” and reflect upon the deep impact it’s had on him and his family.

Sofia Vegara reveals her biggest beauty regret and it’s so relatable

It's not too late to start though.

Sofia Vergara is famous for her curvaceous body, but she still has regrets about the way she took her ‘youthful looks’ for granted in her 20s.

The Modern Family star wishes she had applied suncreen to her chest instead of just her face and neck from a younger age.

“In my 20s, I started to use sunblock on my face,” she told PeopleStyle.

“I wish I had put it on my chest too.”

The 44-year-old says it’s probably too late to reverse all the damage, but is liberal about applying SPF everywhere daily now.

Beauty experts have similar advice, especially as the chest is not immune from tell-tale signs of aging.

Zoe Foster Blake, author of Amazing Face, has long told her fans that her best bit of beauty advice is: “your face stops at your boobs”.

Blake says most clothes women wear reveal at least part of their chest, so it’s illogical to only slather expensive treatments– and sun protection–onto your face.

Helpful tips and tricks

  • Apply what you do to your face on your neck and chest area during the day and night.

  • Wear high necked tops and dresses as much as possible when the sun is out.

  • Don’t apply perfume on your chest or neck area during the day as the alcohol can increase your chances of getting sunburnt or developing pigmentation.

  • Sleep on your back.

  • Avoid boiling hot showers because they could damage the delicate skin on your chest.

It’s never too late to start.

Fashion brand throws some heavy shade at Ivanka Trump

Ivanka Trump is probably going to lie a little low today.

Ivanka Trump is probably going to lie a little low today.

The daughter of Presidential candidate Donald Trump made a recent purchase for a pair of $84 Helix Ear Cuffs from indie jewellery brand Lady Grey.

While the founders were completing her order they included a little note to show her exactly what they thought of her Republican father and everything he stands for.

They were kind enough to share their message on Instagram, and already it has gone viral due to its sassy undertones.

The handwritten note to Ivanka reads:

“Dear Ivanka,

Thank you so much for your web order! We’re happy to let you know that the proceeds of your sale have been generously donated to the American Immigration Council, the Everytown for Gun Safety Organization, and the Hillary Clinton campaign. We hope you enjoy your new Lady Grey [Helix Ear Cuff].

Best,

Jill + Sabine, Lady Grey”

“While we were flattered to receive an order from Ivanka Trump, our social and political views couldn’t be further from those of the Trump campaign,” a spokeswoman for Lady Grey told The Huffington Post.

“When we received her order, we instantly felt compelled to take the money and donate it to a few organizations that were more aligned with our ideals ― Everytown for Gun Safety, The American Immigration Council, and The Hillary Clinton Campaign.”

We wonder if we’ll be seeing Ivanka rocking these ear-cuffs anytime soon?
