If you can’t join ’em… move ’em?

This appears to be the technique deployed by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle as they prepare to move away from Kensington Palace and into Frogmore Cottage, their new 10-bedroom home in Windsor.

The couple’s big move was announced by Kensington Palace in an official statement, which referenced the couple’s first child as a reason for their move.

“Windsor is a very special place for Their Royal Highnessess and they are grateful that their official residence will be on the estate.”

And while we have no trouble believing Windsor will indeed be a beautifully quaint area to raise their new baby, there are other potential factors at play that could have sparked the move, and they might surprise you.

The news comes amid reports of tension between Prince Harry and Prince William’s wives – Meghan and Kate.

Wills and Kate live in Kensington Palace and would have been Harry and Meghan’s neighbours, but according to the Daily Mail, the two female royals “don’t really get on”.

“Kate and Meghan are very different people,” a source told the publication.

What’s more, according to The Sun, the plan had always been for Meghan and Harry to move into Kensington Palace, “but there has been a bit of tension between the brothers,” a source revealed.

Last month, the Sunday Times revealed William and Harry would create two separate courts as their roles with Kate and Meghan evolve.

A source told royal correspondent Roya Nikkhah, “The brothers have leant on each other and looked after each other since their mother died. But now they have their own families, they no longer rely on each other as before.”

They added, “[The] William and Harry double-act has naturally been supplanted by the two couples and their families. They have become different people with different outlooks on life. Splitting the household is the obvious thing to do.”

But while the two couples, affectionately dubbed the “Fab Four” might be forging their own paths, they’ll still come together through their joint organisation The Royal Foundation, and of course at official family events.

And as for Meghan and Harry’s new cottage? Well, we can’t really blame them for wanting to move there – it boasts no less than 10-bedrooms, a new nursery and space for a gym and yoga studio, perfect for yoga enthusiast Meghan!

The cottage, which will require building work to turn it back into a luxury family home, will be separated into five units where Palace staff will also live.

Up until now, the house was used as a retreat for both private and official engagements, according to The Sun.
