Princess Diana

Royal fans, rejoice: you could soon own a historical piece of Princess Diana herself.

A 1994 Audi Cabriolet owned by the people’s Princess is going to auction next month, with an estimated value of £50,000 – around $AUD81,652.

The green convertible car was bought by Diana in 1994, and she drove around 4,000 miles in it, often with her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry in the back seat.

According to the auction site, the sports car was returned to Dovercourt following her tragic death in 1997 and it is still registered to its original number plates.

Princess Diana was often pictured driving her beloved Audi.

The car is among a prized set of 12 classic cars that will be going on sale between 12-13 November as part of the auction, Jewels in the Crown – also among them is a Bentley once owned by Queen Elizabeth.

The limousine, valued at £235,000, or $AUD385,000, was built in 2012 as a gift for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee tour of Great Britain.

It comes with armour protection, reinforced tyre and even a picnic table.

A Bentley that belonged to Queen Elizabeth will also be going on sale.

Other cars up for auction include a Rolls-Royce Phantom owned by Elton John and a Fiat 500L bought by former UK Prime Minister David Cameron.

Of course, if you want to get your hands on a car, it could also cost you the price of shipment, since the auction is being held in Birmingham, in the UK.

Managing Director of Silverstone Auctions, Nick Whale, thinks that there will still be plenty of competition to own the once-in-a-lifetime cars, though.

“We anticipate a huge amount of interest in these cars from across the globe. These cars have been wonderfully cared for over their lifetimes and we look forward to finding them new homes.”
