McLeod’s Daughters is a classic example of great Aussie TV, so we weren’t surprised to learn that is has been sold in almost 190 international territories over the years.

No wonder the Nine Network are currently in talks about reviving the series.

According to research by Screen Australia, McLeod’s Daughters has fans in some very far flung places including the Faroe Islands, the Shetlands and even Lapland. The show is also incredibly popular in Germany and The Netherlands.

A number of Australian dramas and kids shows have sold to over 130 international markets. At the top of the list is the first series of the highly acclaimed drama Top Of The Lake which can be viewed in 255 territories. The second season of the series Top Of The Lake: China Girl, starring Elizabeth Moss (The Handmaid’s Tale), Nicole Kidman (Big Little Lies) and Gwendoline Christie (Game Of Thrones) will hit our screens shortly.

Many Australian series are now available on international streaming sites. Cleverman, Wentworth, Miss Fisher’s Murders, Little Lunch, Rake, Utopia, The Code, Glitch, Rosehaven are all available on Netflix US. While Kath & Kim, Neighbours, Wonderland, Real Housewives of Melbourne, Offspring, The Straits, Packed to the Rafters, All Saints are just some of the Australian shows currently available on the US streaming service Hulu.

When it comes to our favourite soaps, Neighbours has been sold to nearly 100 territories and is watched by millions across the globe. It’s has been on air in the UK for over 30 years! Home And Away also has a huge following in the UK, having been broadcast since 1989 and is currently available to watch in 137 countries worldwide.
