Emma Thompson, who has appeared in the likes of Sense and Sensibility and Love Actually, has surprised the host of a Swedish talk show with a hilarious story involving herself, President Donald Trump and a VERY awkward phone call.
โHe asked me out once,โ Thompson told host Fredrik Skavlan while appearing on Swedish news outlet SVT on Thursday. โIโll tell you the story, itโs very funny.โ
The surreal exchange took place as she was shooting the 1998 film Primary Colours in Los Angeles, a political film that was loosely based on Bill Clintonโs 1992 presidential campaign.
The 57-year-old actress recalls: โI was in my trailer and it was on the Universal lot. โฆ So the phone rings in my trailer, which itโs never done before. โฆ I lift up the phone: โHi. Itโs Donald Trump here.โ I said, โReally? What? Can I help you?โ โ
โHe said, Yeah, I just you know, I wondered if I could offer you some accommodation in one of my Trump Towers. Theyโre really comfortable.โ

โI think we would get on very well. Maybe we could have dinner sometime?'โ
She continued: โI didnโt know what to do with myself. I was absolutelyโฆ I was on my own, and I just said, โOkay, well Iโll get back to you! Thank you so much for ringingโ.โ
Having a laugh with the talk show hosts, Emma added, โI wish I had [accepted] โ think of the stories!โ

Two thumps up for effort!
Emma separated from her first-husband Kenneth Branagh in 1995 and welcomed a daughter, Gaia, in 1999 with her Sense & Sensibility costar Greg Wise. The duo wed in 2003.
Greg has previously opened up about the coupleโs failed attempts to conceive through IVF and how โupsettingโ the process was.
Speaking to the Daily Mail magazine back in 2014, he said that following the birth of their daughter, who was conceived thanks to IVF, the couple tried for second child.
โWe tried IVF a few times after having her and it didnโt work,โ he said.
โIVF is very upsetting. Itโs a brutal process and itโs very emotional. Itโs really hard. But then you pick yourself up, look around and see this unbelievably beautiful little baby youโve got anyway.โ
In 2003, Greg and Emma met Tindyebwa Agaba, a former child soldier from Rwanda. Tindyebwa was homeless and began spending more and more time with the family before they eventually adopted him.

โHeโs a remarkable boy,โ Greg told the Mail of his son.
โHeโs had more misery than hopefully any of us will have to put up with. Thatโs given him an incredible drive for trying to make peopleโs lives better.โ
What a wonderful couple!
